I went to Neiman Marcus today and wore Epic 56 today to give it another shot. It’s very nice and it’s fairly affordable on the secondary now. I’m either picking this up or Overture Man, one I also like after a few tests. Hmm. 🤔
I love epic woman. Still up there as one of my favourite from the house. It's supposed to emulate the sense of silk, and it does. The box is cool as it has written on the side, in traditional Chinese, 史詩 (Shǐshī) which means Epic. Each character 史 = History and 詩 = poetry, put together literally means historical poem, i.e. epic. I think the story and execution of this perfume and it's reference to the silk road is amazing. Ramsey, I need your help. So, I’ve only smelled two Amouage so far. I own a full bottle of Boundless(because it was the best deal on one of the discounters), and I recently got a sample of Epic Woman. I know how you feel about each of these fragrances, but to me they smell soooo similar! Epic woman doesn’t have the blood orange opening of course, but once that passes, the two smell nearly the same to my nose. Boundless smells a little fuzzier, and Epic a little smoother with a touch more florals, but other than that I couldn’t tell them apart. Am I missing something? Do I just need to spend more time with them? I was really excited to try Epic Woman, thinking it would be my next full bottle purchase, but it just seems redundant. Do you have any thoughts on this? Have you ever smelled them side by side? Am I crazy?

Do the type of perfume alcohol used in a fragrance have anything to do with the refinement of the fragrance? Secondly, Opus library collection. I replaced my epic and noticed that the scent is much weaker more shallow. So I then trialled the exceptional extract and was closer to my bottle with Sultan of Oman so agree it feels like a money grab Absolute shame because a beautiful fragrance. Love the review

Another great review. Epic 56 is the best of the high-concentration Amouages. Cécile Zarokian created a faithful and more luxurious version of vintage Epic Woman EDP, it's truly spellbinding. On another note, I sampled current Amouage EDPs this month and the soul of these fragrances is no longer.

Very fair review. I purchased epic 56 when it was released - sold on a month later. Yes it’s great - but I’d rather spend the money on backups of the edp or other scents that push boundaries and not spending $$ on a perfume like epic 56 that is living off Amouage’s past

I bought Epic W off your recommendation. Amazing fragrance, sent me down a rabbit hole as I didn't really try the womens range before. I now have about 5 arriving in the post next week, and already have Jubi W in hand (Roja's RHDP 15 is similar, but adds a nice buttery Iris note). Anyhow, I got a vial of Epic 56 and compared. Totally agree that if you own one you don't need the other and that the price jump is not worth it even though it is a boosted version. In some ways I prefer the EDP, it has a dustier/drier tone which fits better with the theme.
I feel the same... the womens Amouages are such a rabbit hole but they are so good.. I just cant believe I overlooked them for so long.... making up for that now 💪🐏

Oh Only got Epic Man regular Joe so to speak ,so this comparison I feel I cannot really chime in on ,however on the basis of Oil content,projection and longevity,which I have some little experience,mostly though with my attar collection,which I find Attar users and lovers are into the lower projection and longevity with enjoyment coming from their personal bubble and probably don’t like an initial slap in the face blast that atomizer fragrances can deliver off the bat ,but rather let the attar in its own time work its way to the olfactory senses in it own sweet time (or not sweet lol)pardon my semi pun haha, anyways I found this video on point and interesting because it holds true for the concept of all high oil bases V edt.edp.etc cheers Rams fascinating stuff 🙏👍✌️

I blind bought a 50ml. tester of Epic Woman extrait many years ago, wore ot once and buried it in a move. I recently rediscovered the generic white box it came in and wore it several times. It is a top 5 scent for me (as is Epic Man, a near signature scent I wear a lot). I have never sampled the other two versions.

Seems like Amouage has become a brand new house instead of staying with their roots. They put 4 unreleased fragrance decants in their new discovery scent package and it sounds like basic stuff
The tea note in epic woman blew my mind with how photorealistic it is. It helps to balance out the heavier spices, brilliant work from Cecile. Still looking for a full bottle at a great price 😢
@@RamseytheRam agree with crediting all 3 perfumers. Kinda remembered an interview of hers where she said quite a number of perfumers submitted their own ‘prototype’ and her work got chosen. Maybe that’s when they started working together to nail what Chong is looking for. Epic woman doesn’t smelt like her work to be honest, after smelling some of her creations that came out later. She has a fetish with Vetiver, balsamic, amber and vanilla.
This is by Far the Best Extrait of the Whole Line, in exception of the Newest Guidance "which I haven't tried yet" & let me tell you by getting this for almost the same Price of the OG Woman is Outstanding & just a Must for every Amouage Fan. It can be easily the Best Amouage for me ever Released♥️ & I repeat specially by getting it for a Pretty Price
Wait until you try the new "attars" 🤣 besides the incense one which to be fair is very good, the rest, specially the vanilla one... is hilarious. They are now clearly targeting a more mass market with money to burn, if it works for them good, but is not for me, not impressed with new ones so far (considering the price tag of course)

I really want to try epic and journey they're next on my list. I 've really been enjoying amouage I love interlude man and own black iris but after getting used to the og IM I really like it more than black iris. I went through 2 decants of jubilation man it smells great but the performance is horrible on me but kept hearing about how well it performs maybe it was reformulated

Completly agree about the price. And although I know where you're coming from with the inverse correlation of concentration/longevity to projection, it's more about the innate properties of the materials themselves and how they're blended. For instance, if you increase the concentration of certain woody ambers even just a bit, you're likely to get super-duper-exploding-pooper projection and longevity....of the woody amber molecules. Not necessarily of the other materials. Certain oils (essentially alcohol-free) are beastmode too. And I don't just mean my farts. 😬 As far as I know, it's difficult (or impossible) to change the innate volatility/diffusivity of any olfactory compound without changing its molecular structure; but you can go heavy on the fixatives or blend in certain ways...and there are concentration limits to abide by, blah blah blah. That's why many fragrances that boast higher longevity are often mid-to-base heavy, sometimes resulting in less initial projection (again, depending on the compounds) and not necessarily due to the alcohol content, which realistically evaporates in a matter of seconds. You generally don't increase the projection of heavy molecules by decreasing their concentration - it's actually closer to the opposite. But you can blend a musk like elthylene brassylate with hedione and iso-e to give your stuff more diffusion. Bit of trial and error, but it's all about the balance and blending of materials. Highly confusing topic on the internet and I'm not sure why. Is the debate about whether or not denatured ethanol gets trapped between the oil molecules and lifts them like balloons lifting the house in "Up"? Because if that was true...think about how much alcohol we'd be smelling with each sniff. Feedback welcome!
😂😂😂 Yeah I actually thought the projection of Epic 56 is pretty good for such a high concentration of perfume oil.. but i wouldnt spend the extra money on epic 56 over my EDP 🤷♂️
For me; I only have one Amouage- Original Version and that's all that has wowed me , maybe I need to get my nose on more of their older versions. From the samples I've tried they are just an easy like for anyone. Not for the discerning, my excitement is elsewhere. Great comparison, great content that's not available elsewhere... could you do a Not a top ten for fragrance lovers with allergies, cough cough?!😉

But I think if you do enjoy something on the sweeter side with patchouli then I do really like CArslile by PDM. Have you worn it or smelled it?

Ceciles best work... but remember she had help... there were I believe 2 other perfumers who helped her create Epic Woman originally 💪🐏

Wait until you try the new "attars" 🤣 besides the incense one which to be fair is very good, the rest, specially the vanilla one... is hilarious. They are now clearly targeting a more mass market with money to burn, if it works for them good, but is not for me, not impressed with new ones so far (considering the price tag of course)

I really want to try epic and journey they're next on my list. I 've really been enjoying amouage I love interlude man and own black iris but after getting used to the og IM I really like it more than black iris. I went through 2 decants of jubilation man it smells great but the performance is horrible on me but kept hearing about how well it performs maybe it was reformulated

Completly agree about the price. And although I know where you're coming from with the inverse correlation of concentration/longevity to projection, it's more about the innate properties of the materials themselves and how they're blended. For instance, if you increase the concentration of certain woody ambers even just a bit, you're likely to get super-duper-exploding-pooper projection and longevity....of the woody amber molecules. Not necessarily of the other materials. Certain oils (essentially alcohol-free) are beastmode too. And I don't just mean my farts. 😬
As far as I know, it's difficult (or impossible) to change the innate volatility/diffusivity of any olfactory compound without changing its molecular structure; but you can go heavy on the fixatives or blend in certain ways...and there are concentration limits to abide by, blah blah blah. That's why many fragrances that boast higher longevity are often mid-to-base heavy, sometimes resulting in less initial projection (again, depending on the compounds) and not necessarily due to the alcohol content, which realistically evaporates in a matter of seconds. You generally don't increase the projection of heavy molecules by decreasing their concentration - it's actually closer to the opposite. But you can blend a musk like elthylene brassylate with hedione and iso-e to give your stuff more diffusion. Bit of trial and error, but it's all about the balance and blending of materials. Highly confusing topic on the internet and I'm not sure why. Is the debate about whether or not denatured ethanol gets trapped between the oil molecules and lifts them like balloons lifting the house in "Up"? Because if that was true...think about how much alcohol we'd be smelling with each sniff. Feedback welcome!

Yeah I actually thought the projection of Epic 56 is pretty good for such a high concentration of perfume oil.. but i wouldnt spend the extra money on epic 56 over my EDP 🤷♂️

For me; I only have one Amouage- Original Version and that's all that has wowed me , maybe I need to get my nose on more of their older versions. From the samples I've tried they are just an easy like for anyone. Not for the discerning, my excitement is elsewhere.

But I think if you do enjoy something on the sweeter side with patchouli then I do really like CArslile by PDM. Have you worn it or smelled it?

It’s my baby! At least until I find a 8+ year old bottle of Interlude. I smelled a current and older version of J25. There’s no comparison. It’s sad actually.
