    You are a beautiful person, inside and out. And so is your garden. What an inspiration! Just started sheet mulching my front yard in Sarasota, Florida so that I don't have to pay to have it mowed. Good for the wallet and good for the planet. Thank you so much for your videos!

    I love it! I’m going to try that mulching. We had a bad hurricane that almost took everything out so starting from scratch. A blessing and a curse. Thank you for all the great tips.

      @@jaysgardenjournal I used your newspaper method on a slope that divides our property lines. The hose as a guide was a great idea. Our landscaper came by as I was doing it . He asked where'd I gotten the idea from? A woman on RUclips! 😄😄😄

    Love the Before and After photos. I lay brown paper down (I use the garden bags from Costco) and cover with mulch for weed control, It lasts for ~2 years. Helps me to focus on
    a few beds per season.

    Absolutely love your garden. Gardening produces sanity, doesn't it? I never feel like I've had a truly good weekend unless I can get some dirt under my fingernails! Have you ever grown China asters? Not sure how they'd do in your southern climate. I grow them in Rhode Island

    I am in the Desert SW, I have only known Bermuda Grass, and making a bed like this is like inviting it to grow.....it is the oddest thing, it grows where you don't want it.
    All of my beds must be at least two inches below the surface of the ground so as to deep water the roots. Most days I find myself going from planting bed to planting bed moving the hose as it fills up...Bermuda loves that too! LOL
    Jay, you have a Dreamscape Garden!

    Amazing garden. You've worked so hard. Could you share how to maintain sheet mulching during the season? Do weeds break through mid-year? Do you spot fix and redo the sheet mulching?

    • @jaysgardenjournal
      @jaysgardenjournal  8 месяцев назад +1

      Yes, I reapply if the weeds spring back vigorously but they rarely do if I keep the soil covered with natural mulch (leaves, wood chips, etc)

    I love your garden it’s so full and beautiful. I have a question about the cardboard process. Do you do it in the fall and then ready to plant for spring? Is it just cardboard and mulch and nothing else? The reason I’m asking is I’m very interested in trying this in my yard.

    Thank you! I'm definitely going to sheet mulch my side yard over-run by ferns. But may l ask, do you think cardboard will be strong enough? I'll try a small area first to see how it goes. Happy gardening!

    After creating the garden bed, do you recommend installing edging around the bed? Or do you find edging is not necessary?

  • @Chicadee713
    @Chicadee713 Год назад

    How long does this cardboard last? I'm assuming that over time the cardboard will breakdown allowing weeds to grow. Will you need to redo them with new cardboard?

  • @summerofstacey6676

    Wow! You have done a beautiful job with your garden!! I’m also in zone 8 in north Texas…how long did it take for the cardboard to disintegrate and allow you to plant in those beds? I’ve just started using paper bags as weed suppression with compost on top. Your property is such an inspiration!
