Great vid! The Fire Station seems pretty cool with the water situation. The water spigot is on the back side. They even have a donation box above it. I tossed a couple bucks in and filled on up. Everyone there was super nice. No joke about the exposure and lake of shade.
Buddy and I did this segment in the summer during a section hike of 1-5. We knew about the waterless stretch and cameled up at Judys bridge. About noon it started getting really hot and we were sweating buckets. A little over halfway I was starting to feel nauseous, most likely from some sort of heat stress. Take your time and get that extra water. Start early in the day to maybe make it to the fire station by noon. Great videos.
Segment 2 can be pretty dry all times of year - its best to plan to have no water on this segment (after the start of course). There is stretch of about 14 miles that is dry from segment 2-3.
You and your wife are adorbs! What sorts of things do you guys do to train in the off-season? Obviously hikes and snow shoeing/winter hiking is best, but is there anything else you do that you’ve found effective?
haha thanks - we both love to snowboard so that's the main off season activity but cardio wise I am always training for something it seems and she is on her feet all day for her job.
I start my hike at the end of May after that all be spending a month hiking 14ers ya got me addicted just got done doing the maroon bells 4 pass loop did not know I had snowmass rite next to trail rider pass or I would have climbed it gives me a reason to go back ? Maroon peaks which one of the 2 would be easier to do and get back down I’m just learning how to climb heights don’t bother me as long as I got good holds!
Check out my video on ranking the 14ers if you haven't already: ruclips.net/video/00hAFf51AfU/видео.html, there is a blog post there that I would also recommend checking out. The Elks are known for loose conditions, so if you are looking for solid holds - neither Maroon Peak or North Maroon Peak offer that 100%. However, between the two Maroon Peak is easier. Snowmass is def beautiful and worth a trip there in the future.
Perfect for dogs this time of year, summer might be rough. I was actually surprised at how beautiful this segment was - by far my favorite views of the CT so far.

I wish we had these types of trails in Illinois. Illinois sucks for hiking. This is such a great video! great job!
TJ W thanks man appreciate it, hear ya about IL hiking I lived in Chicago for about 8 years. Wisconsin and Michigan has some decent stuff though.
@@TheVirtualsherpa Yes I like Kettle Moraine SF and Devils lake SP. Thanks again!
Looks like plenty of water if you are doing it fall through spring

Juno is cute as hell . Great video !👍🏻
She is the best - she will be a staple of the CT videos moving forward as long as she is a good girl haha

Looks like an enjoyable hike for a dog even if its a bit boring for humans.
