Divorce and loosing your child’s rights causing you to loose your permanent is crazy.
There’re many reasons people separate and the same reasons with the children as well.
If in this case you’re working for ten years and paying taxes regularly and well integrated.
You could just loose all for one reason.

Revoking a permanent residence upon divorce is such a strange concept for me (I'm in the USA.) I don't think a single country in the Americas/Western Hemisphere has that feature (where a person only loses permanent residence when committing a serious crime.)
But I guess that makes sense if the country has had to deal with marriage fraud.

If I marry a girl and 18 months later we get divorced, but I established roots, bought apartment, car, live and work there but just the relationship ended, why should I loose permanent residence? Its crazy that Ukraine does not have a path for pensioners from certain countries to live in Ukraine.
Many would come for economic reasons or because the area they are from has changed radically from immigration. These EU folks are already heading to Poland and Hungary, Ukraine should consider this too.
These older folks simply bring money, dont compete for jobs. They might drive up housing prices but this could be managed with either a limited number of visas or limits in other ways.

Since you are spreading misinformation, I would like to discuss the established law with you, because apparently you are not good at reading!
We are talking about changes to the Law on Immigration dated June 29, 2023 (Batkivshchyna Faction).
    The truth ✅
    - Our deputies introduced and improved the procedure for obtaining an immigration permit. This amendment emphasizes measures to combat fictitious marriages (interview, joint financial life, etc.).
    The truth ✅
Everyone who lives in Ukraine with a temporary residence permit will now be able to get an immigration permit (the main basis for the PPP)
    - False ❌
If the Immigration Permit has already been issued and the case was closed, the DMS cannot cancel it EVEN IF THE MARRIAGE BROKE UP. The immigration permit will be canceled only if the marriage has been determined to be invalid according to the court's decision. Divorced marriage does NOT mean that the marriage is invalid. We already have laws regulating invalid marriages (it concerns the transfer of property)
    - False ❌
A person does not waste parental rights if the marriage breaks up, it does not matter if the person is from Mars or from Kyiv. If the marriage is determined to be invalid due to doubts about its veracity, parental rights will be lost, but how can the marriage be fictitious if there are joint children??
I myself was shocked that I decided to read the law. An immigration permit is almost never revoked, let alone just like that. (The exception is when the court established that the marriage was fictitious). It is very difficult to cancel the Immigration Permit.
    Do not misinform!

There's nothing like family. Yes, a lot of Ukrainians will live abroad and not return and likely a lot of men will join them after the war because who will want to hang around with the threat of higher taxes (to pay for war and rebuilding of the country). However, family to a lot of Ukrainians is everything. Those Ukrainians will return. Also Olga is right. Ukrainians who will now live abroad won't have the same rights as locals. For example, we are right now in Poland and the government, for no reason at all, decided that my 1 year old child can no longer have child benefit. People in government are truly disgusting pricks of people.

Is there any way to acquire dual citizenship in Ukraine similar to the situation between different EU countries?
Dual citizenship would make live for Binational families much easier I think.
Being able to tell people in their language that you are their compatriot can be a very powerful dooropener.
In most EU countries you have to pass at least an A1 language proficiency exam. ( The required language proficiency certificate is country specific.)
BTW, I think it is a good idea to share the same citizenships with your husband or your wife.
It's in my personal eyes a strong commitment to speak each others language not only between binationals themselves but also to both motherlands.

    • @dangermouse8466
      @dangermouse8466 Год назад

From my understanding dual citizenship is illegal in Ukraine. They might be looking at changing this so I hear. However, there's nothing to say you can't have 3 or more citizenships. If memory serves correct, one politician was arrested at one of the ports in Ukraine a few years ago. They arrested him because they found a second passport. They took him to court and the court dismissed the case because he has 3 citizenships.
