If you sing….you can get dry mouth…quite a few singers chew gum when singing…keeps the saliva flowing…Greg Lake loved to chew gum while singing…videos of him playing live where both he and Keith Emerson are chomping away.
He was not happy with having to lip synch on live shows. He chewed it as protest. I know a feel other artists would do similar things.
