  • This is a 10 part day by day while on a Railway Holiday with Swindon as a base
Day 2: This journey starts at Swindon with First Great Western Class 43, 43126 wearing a Bristol 2015 promotional livery departing for London Paddington and a Colas Class 70, 70809 on a engineering train, once my HST arrive with the 1C05 0921 to Penzance via Bristol Temple Meads, my first destination was a journey to Dawlish, while on the move my train pass a LNER A4 Locomotive, 60009 Union of South Africa which is standing next to the old Tiverton station where the Heylock brach started, the LNER A4 was working the Royal Duchy from Bristol Teple Meads to Par. Dawlish is also where the railway runs by the sea between Exeter and Newton Abbot, behind my train departing Dawlish was the same steam locomotive which was sitting at the old Tiverton Railway Station, the A4 was suppose to pass through but for some reason it stopped at the station with the crew checking the steam locomotive over, however the train soon departed but had a feeling the locomotive failed. After Dawlish, moved to Teignmouth to film trains there for a hour but at this station, my thoughts about the LNER A4 locomotive came true, the locomotive failed at Newton Abbot. After a hour filming, I went to Newton Abbot to film trains there but also waiting for 47832 on a 1Z99 or 0Z99 move from Bristol Temple Meads to take the train which the LNER A4 failed on to Par but during my hour at Newton Abbot, it showed up! I travelled back to Exeter St. Davids on a Class 43 HST to change trains and took a South West Trains Class 159 to Exeter Central and for a Sunday was busier than a weekday! so it was the perfect time to film at this station, after an hour at Exeter St. Davids, travelled back to Exeter Central to film a Class 153 going to Oakhampton which only has a Sunday service! Then it was time to board a CrossCounty HST to the last station of the day. Totnes, but while I was there filming CrossCountry HSTs and DMUs with FGW Class 43 HSTs, LNER A4 60009 Union of South Africa made an appearance out the blue with 5Z09 Newton Abbott to Totnes, little that I knew at the time the A4 was going to Buckfastleigh on the South Devon Railway to get checked over, after a hour at Totnes, I took a First Great Western Class 43 HST to Westbury which the train went to Taunton and then turned off to go via Castle Cary, when arrived into Westbury, I took a Portsmouth Harbour to Swindon train which was a Class 158, these units would do Portsmouth to Cardiff Trains but with the line from Bath Spa to Chippenham out of use due to major engineering work, these trains were diverted via Swindon, soon as I got to Swindon, got off the train and went back to the hotel to end the show, filmed 16th August 2015
