This might have been due to console limitations at the time, for if you played on PS2 then you couldn't play online without a network adapter. Still it made for a very serviceable game offline and a very chill and fun sandbox that the new one lacks.
You also cannot buddy up in vehicles like you could in the original. Who remembers crammig into a shuttle or gunship to destroy the enemy ships internals? Who remembers cramming into the ATTE and defending it from all fronts? With vehicles being purchased by points akin to halo 5's req system, it certainly removed the buddy system you could have in the original.
To be fair. It's easier to make a bunch of low resolution, average detailed maps, than incredibly detailed, beautiful looking, unique maps. Still, EA BF 2 should have way more single player content
The Holocron Chambers I guess that is true, but back then they had worse tools and those graphics in 2005 would have been pretty decent. I think those graphics in 2005 would have been almost as hard as it is to make the new BF2 graphics in 2017.
That would be a bad idea. I mean just look at modern warfare it was awesome as fuck but now we have extra shit that basically made it a fully new game but with the name of "modern warfare remastered" And EA would add loot boxes and other shit that no one cares about unless they were an overwatch RUclipsr and want to do some other game
Battlefront 2 (2005) has horrendous gameplay compared to the new one, very clunky, very outdated, no weight to the movement/weapons/characters etc... you guys are deluding yourselves.
Even though it has NO progression? Qualms about strategy and death times are exactly the same in the original BF2 (2005) I was playing it online only 3 days ago... and it hasn't held up as well as I remember it to be.
Aethere_ Nocturna oh geez, you people complained when EA didn't take any inspiration or content from the OG bf2. You guys said, " just remaster the OG bf2 with newer graphics! ". Now, the devs have actually listened to you people and took a lot of inspiration from the OG bf2 and you call them ripping off the OG bf2?
That's all I think most people wanted (at least me) for the new game but instead while still fun it is watered down heavily based on MP. Where as if they focused on the single player and adding likes conquest mode like they did before I think the new one could become one of the best but till then I will think of it as just some nice graphics with a star wars theme
The original bf2 has a progression system. But it was for earning specific medals over and over and ranking up in that area. For instance one of the medals when you earn it in game gave you unlimited stamina until you died. But if you hit the rank war hero in that medal for getting it so many times it became permanent.
No, you are not the only one. But EA has other ideas, loot boxes, microtransactions and games as a "service". A level playing field would limit monetization potential. So no dice. No pun intended.
well, i didn't like the last game that much, but this one is great, (don't care about crates, as i usually just use the crafting parts from them), and the cross era isn't that awful if you explain it that way, it's actually quite good.
Bad2theBonz why do you care so much? Since when was there rebels on utopau or clones on the Death Star. Who cares about immersion. Watch the movies if you want to be immersed. It's about fun.
tman calm down bro. The new Xbox already has backwards compatibility and the original battlefront might be on the list later on just like what they did with KOTOR
Admiral Ackbar calm down? Don't you tell me to calm down!! But seriously Now that I look back at it, I do see how it seems like I was triggered but I can assure you I wasn't. Also, the way he says it does make it seem like he specifically means remastering it only on PS4 (which would be dumb) but it's possible he didn't mean it that way. I also thank you for your service to the rebellion.
They just should have made battlefront 2 pandemic but with more content... what it was supposed to be ... i mean why call it even then battlefront if it doesnt have the same content... it just fills my results box with stuff i am not searching for its annoying ... imagine someone made a remake of jedi knight or a sequel and its basically not the the same as the original at its core... thats just milking the name ... so thats my problem in general... ur searching for concept art or battlefront 2 vids now i gotta search and call it the 2005 version or pandemic and hope for the best... why didnt they call it first assault or something as this one never came out and it wouldnt use a already taken name... now i have this situation... i am playn the original and a friend wants to watch me playn so i stream it and he asks what this is and i have to explain to him that its not the one that came out recently that there was one before ... sry for the long rant but i just needed to vent it somewhere -_-
Kryo I have a feeling if they actually do that, make the Battlefronts like Battlefield, I'm afraid it'll make a quite large divide. On one hand, a Battlefield in a Star Wars setting is something a lot of people would want especially by DICE itself, improving the formula at least. On the other hand, some people would be angry accusing DICE to be lazy by copying Battlefield with a Star Wars skin, especially after how BF3, BF4 and Hardline was perceived, reskins after reskins after DLC. But I digress, like anyone actually values opinions, right?
EA has this idiotic obsession with rewriting history. They did it with Medal of Honor 2010, NFS Hot Pursuit, Most Wanted and Need For Speed 2015 as well, even though they had little in common with the originals.
What Pandemic's Battlefront does better: (Including Mods, because they're just as much part of the game as the vanilla stuff) - Freedom and just overall Feel (Movement and Gameplay much less restricted and feels very open) - Just Free Gameplay (No weird and and far too short stages, you do whatever you want to do and get to play for a while) - Play Anything (Horror like HvB or Fun like Beach Troopers, Great Stories like Aldura, Extensive Gameplay like BFX) - Amount of Content (Hundreds of Maps, Classes, Weapons, Vehicles, Heroes etc., just so much to choose from) - Even more Eras (basically any you can think off and even ones from other games) - Maps (Are Bigger, have much more accessible areas and a lot of AI running around, also flanking and tactic exists on them) - Classes (Much more to varied classes to choose from with far more interesting and useful weaponry) - Weapons (Much more Blasters and Gadgets to choose from) - Vehicles (Multi-Person Vehicles you can drive or fly yourself without the stupid rails) - Force-Sens. Heroes (Much more varied attacks, much better movement and just fun gameplay) - Space Battles (Freely leading a battle destroying or sabotaging the enemy capital ship is great) - Campaign and Mod Stories (Much more Interesting stories and fun objective play) - Modes (Conquest is unbeatable) - Community (Is much more passionate and creates amazing mods) - Developers (Actually care about their player base, hell they were the ones to add mod tools for us to use) - Offline Gameplay (It's super fun, the opposite of DICE's repetitive, soulless dull and empty version of offline matches) - Galactic Conquest (Can be pretty fun) - AI (Hell, even they have a certain charm compared to DICE's robotic, sluggish and useless AI XD) - No Microtransactions, nor season passes and everything is unlocked through gamepay What DICE's Battlefront does better: - -A Progression System (Ranks and tons of star cards to unlock and upgrade)- - Graphics and Cinematic Feel (Smoother Gameplay) - -Customization of the Classes (You can choose the weapons and star cards you want to use)- - -Multiplayer (Barely anyone plays 2005 online and 2017 can definitely be fun, also larger player base)- I wasn't gonna be that harsh on 2017, but DICE can't stop giving me reasons to hate their Battlefronts. Can't they either copy what Free Radical had almost finished or at least just reskin Battlefield into a Battlefront, I'd love that. The current one can be fun but has tons upon tons of issues and just doesn't compete with the original Battlefronts. Well, except for Multiplayer, because not many are left playing a game that came out 12 years ago and the newer one's can be fun WHEN IT DOESN'T END IMMEDIATELY BECAUSE OF THE STUPID STAGE SYSTEM THAT MAKES THE LARGEST GAMEMODE AVAILABLE LAST JUST 5 MINUTES.
I mean, the progression system is there, but it is awful.. The worst progression system I've seen to date. The whole game is based around microtransaction purchaces, even now that they're disabled... And the costumisation is a fucking joke! And where the FUCK is the map selection in the new Battlefront 2, seriously? The only time I'm having fun is while actually playing on the map that I wanted, as the gameplay is smooth and nice and works well. Everything besides that gets me incredibly annoyed and pissed off with the game... Fucking EA.. The only thing they have going for them now is the freee DLC, but without map selection I doubt I'll be able to try them out well enough..
The problem on EAs battlefront is that the offline is without content. There should be a galatic Conquest or the mods from the multiplayer. EA gets more money selling the game and not the cosmetic stuff. I don't get why EA doesn't invest on the offline. My opinion so if you wanna discuss, please put your arguments.
faustao da pepsi Pentelho I totally agree with you man. When I first saw the first trailer for battlefront 2 the new game I stoke all that time I was excited for the story that will tell the origins of the First Order started with her and the remaining imperial force and hoping for a long campaign little free roam in it as well I was so excited but after what I heard the she sided with rebels and short campaign nothing I was hoping im so done with EA including the new battlefront games now... 😔
Excellent video. You really captured all the elements which make the old game better, and you came across as fair as possible by accepting any possible biases or reasons why DICE might not be able to reciprocate something for balancing purposes. Two things I would add is that (a) the old Battlefronts never had cross-era heroes or cross-era weapons, and (b) the old Battlefronts not only had Star Wars music playing 95% of the match, but Pandemic had also keyed certain tracks to certain elements of the game. Every hero had their own theme song. If you played in certain areas of the map, it triggered certain score. No matter what was going on in the game, the music adjusted itself to feel appropriate to what was being played. That really helps immerse you in the Star Wars universe. I cannot understate just how influential John Williams’ score is to the Star Wars experience. Although the new Battlefront has some of it, the games are almost always silent until the objective changes for like 30 seconds in a 15 minute match, and even then the music is random music from any era of Star Wars, not exclusive to the era. Oh and this reminds me of a third thing: the in-game chatter which helps sell that other a.i. or players are real soldiers. The new game does this actually a little better than the 2015 one, but still not as well as the originals. You tell me if the new game has any in-game lines as memorable as “Watch those Wrist Rockets!” or “Now, hear this, all hands man your battle stations!” or “The Force was strong with that throw!” or “Ow, was it something I said?”
I didn't want to add the cross era hero thing because I heard they are supposedly getting rid of it once more heroes are introduced. Your two other points are perfect though. Wish I thought of them!
I believe that both are spectacular video games! They both have their positives and negatives. I consider The game-play for the new Battlefront 2 to be an improvement over the first, at least in certain aspects (such as gun-play). Despite being somewhat limited in what can be done, Battlefront 2 (EA) has a just slight better space battle system. Boarding capital ships in the classic version was fun once or twice (my opinion, it may still be fun for others). However, it turned into a more boresome objective after time went on (in my opinion). Anyways, implementing ship-boarding into an multiplayer-focused video game could be slightly troublesome (at least in an effective way). In actuality, implementing many aspects from the classic into the new can be troublesome for multiplayer. Therefore, I understand why they are not present. As for the campaign, indeed, Dice's campaign does feel rushed at certain instances. However, I do prefer it over the old one. Battlefront (classic) did not feel like a true campaign. I do enjoy the story, but it wasn't all that bedazzling as some may make it sound. Despite Battlefront 2 (EA) having a predictable story (which is more of Lucasfilm's fault, rather than Dice's), it was still enjoyable. Perhaps if Dice were given more time to work with, it could have been a more well-done campaign. These are just my opinions; feel free to disagree/agree on different or all parts.
I completely agree about the Jedi Flashy Jumping. It was sooo satisfying in the original BF2, but yeah I also understand that it needs to be balanced in EA’s BF2
It's RUclipsrs like you I highly respect. You don't bash the game because there are lootboxes..Yes that is an issue but it doesn't mean the entire game is terrible. Don't ruin it for everyone because a feature in the game is a money grabber! Love ya Kryo. Keep up the epic work!
Thunderclap421 _ I think it most certainly is game-breaking. Having to sink 4,528 hours into a game to unlock everything in it is absurd, and EA all the while is trying to make you pay money so you don't have to spend so much time playing a game you spent money on. Definitely looks like there are some cool features but there's no way in Hell I'll buy that game if I'm being fucked outta my green the whole time.
wafflcoptr You didn't read what I typed. The game isn't bad. You really want to upgrade every single star card? No one is stopping you buddy. Loot boxes are BAD. EA is scammy as fuck to tie it into progression. But the rest of the game isn't terrible. It's nieve as fuck to judge a game off of Loot boxes...You don't HAVE to spend money. You don't HAVE to upgrade every star card.
Sorry to say, but you kinda have to... I also thought you really didn't, and that's why I did buy the game, but really, you do have to buy all these starcards and upgrades, because they give you an actual advantage over others! And the entire game is based around buying these random lootboxes with in game money that you earn ridiculously slowly. Yes, the game looks beautiful and yes, I'm happy that this game actually has some good gameplay, but in everything besides in a match itsself, you're confronted with awful progression, terrible gamedesign and shitty business practices.. You can't even choose maps, goddammit! I am beyond annoyed by that!
ur one of the people making this game still alive :) and i do like how the new BF2 has more realistic graphics, and imagine that in the old BF2...thatd be sick af
Nope 2017 is trash for SOOOOO many reasons, first is lack of content, all they had to do was remaster 2005 but no nope everything is worse except visuals
Yeah but they reckon loot boxes will make more money, nothing else matters. The game is built around selling us loot boxes. Strip away the graphics and soundtrack and are basically buying a one armed bandit with a Star Wars theme.
Hi there, General Kryo! I am not sure if you're active anymore so anyways I am just a humble new fan of your remarkable work. I discovered your channel fairly late but because of you superb videos and channel, I was able to learn about the magnificent mods available for this superb game and the wonderful modding community that so brilliantly creates and generously churns them out. I regularly watch at least one of your old videos because they are always so brilliant, creative and enjoyably. As a teen, I was only to able play the vanilla game which I enjoyed quite a bit but after discovering your channel and the plethora of these mods, I was able to enjoy and experience it far more exponentially unlike honestly any other game I've ever played. Thank you so much for existing and putting out such top tier content . :D Apologies for the extremely lengthy comment.
The multiplayer is fun and all, until you realize that no one wants to play as a team and play the objective. You join a galactic assault match only to see a lobby of around 30 out of the 40 people using the CR-2 or whatever the fuck that gun from the assault class is with insane fire rates and no one else wants to play the objective for a W. The progression system is complete and utter GARBAGE. You can grind the hell out of a certain class/hero and it doesn’t fucking matter because the progression is random luck by fucking star cards. I grind the shit out of the officer class and I’m only level 13. Meanwhile I never play specialist and he’s like level 17 because for some fucking reason I always get star cards for him in trooper crates. The fact that heroes are still locked behind a grindwall is scummy as fuck. ////////////SPOILERS FOR THE CAMPAIGN///////////////// The campaign had a great Star Wars atmosphere to it but it again plays the cliche “imperial troop realizes he/she is fighting for the wrong side and turns rebel” bullshit. It’s fun and all, I still enjoyed it, but if I wanted a story with a plot like that I’d replay The force unleashed. These people really knew that we were excited for a story about the imperial perspective of the war, and they fucking knew that you only played like 3 missions as Iden in the empire, like they might as well should’ve saved the disappointment and told us that she turns, orrrr they could’ve done a fresh story with a new plot 🤷🏽♂️
Hey Kyro love your videos man. Keeps updated on what maps are better to play. Anyways, I agree with most of your points but something that really bugs me in the new game is the cross-era heroes. I know I might be nitpicky, but when I see Rey attacking droids, it kind of takes me out of it to be honest.
battlefront 2 (2005) did everything better than battlefront 2 (2017) Slap 2017's graphics & engine on 2005 Scrap those trash ass lootbox's/starcards Slap in some new maps/guns And you'd have the best star wars game of all time But nope, I'm not buying stbf2017
I actually got BattleFront 2005 just last week and I really loved the selection of era if you like to play during the Clone wars or the galactic civil war between the Empire and Rebellion, but I have one problem, not a really big one, in the game mode "XL" you'll be placed in a map with more than a hundred units on each team and you'll slaughter the opposing team until reaching the score limit, from which point is how you win, but my problem during this game mode, I always lose when I join the Republic during the clone wars era because the units of the CIS uses half the amount of their army for Droidekas, which is super OP and I can't get that sweet victory of the Republic. I end up always with the CIS to ensure a victory when playing this gamemode during the clone wars era selection...
The thing about freedom is that more twelvies are playing the newer game so if we gave everyone freedom all you'd get is these kids trolling and crashing all the vehicles and killing everyone.
Salat SooSe der Galgenmann ᛉ engineer were the most anyoing thing with there Explosives there self healing never healing teammeates sometimes :) and there overpowered shotgun. Sniper all the time our heavy
They are definitely hard to compare as they never really set out to achieve the same things. However, I think it's fair to compare them as they are supposed to be the same "franchise" of Battlefront games.
10mikey I disagree with one of the best pvp games to date part. So many games such as Jedi knight and first person shooters like battlefield do much better because battlefront’s gameplay gets stale. I’ve played it for almost 10 years and it’s gotten boring if there are no mods. If you are talking about how the horrors of war are presented, I would agree even though games like republic commando also did a really good job presenting that.
Here's just my opinion of SWBF2(2005) compared to SWBF2(2017). Here's how both did. Spawning: Command posts, of course. It was amazing to have the strategic advantage of choosing the best spot, deploying there, and possibly changing the tide of the battle itself. The new one has group deployment, which makes sense, but you cannot choose where you deploy, which is so annoying. I get that both have the same starting spawn, which I'm fine with, but later in the battle I want to spawn wherever I deem fit, instead of where I'm forced. Heroes: The timer was probably the best thing that was done. Poorly skilled players would lose the hero quickly, while the best would change the tide of the battle. The new heroes' regeneration is stupid OP, it takes away the fun of being the ultimate weapon of the entire team. Now I loved the multiple heroes at once, but cross era-gameplay is just disturbing to the force. Modding No brainer, the 2005 takes the cake. Only problem is though it crashes a ton, but the modded maps are great. It can only be better (except on steam) when the servers support mods and allow you to play Coruscant with many other people Campaign: Note, I did not play the campaign, I just watched gameplay of it. I do not appreciate that the SWBF2(2017) uses one person you must play as, and if you die, you have to go to the previous objective on a new save. Meanwhile, the 2005 game was extremely nice that you weren't forced to play one definite hero, and that you must go back to the objective. You could die as a hero, but then come back as a clone at the command posts and then finish off that one pesky jedi that killed you. Now speaking of the story, I found it was almost tied, but 2005 takes the cake. The fact that it almost tied up (Damnit EA, stupid DLC BanthaDung, corporate greed) episode 6-7 without me reading a book was great, but I was never really liked Iden Versio. She was completely new, and it seems that she almost popped out of nowhere. It also felt rushed. In contrast to 2017, playing a clone trooper was great. We already knew a lot about them, and came to admire them due to the movies and the TV series (I know, there was 2001 and 2008, I'm speaking both, which honestly makes no sense) with their characters almost being protagonists. Being a 501st clone, I feel like I wasn't born a year ago, even though it could be the case, and we already loved clones. It also helped tie up the prequels and original trilogy. Also mass-murdering jedi was extremely fun but difficult. Combat: do note this is taking into account Spawning and heroes. The gunplay in the new one is absolutely beautiful, even though it's annoying when you find out that an officer killed your enforcer with his stupid turret. The original is almost on par, but not as fun. Heroes in 2017 are a bit unbalanced, along with the garbage spawning mechanics. The gamemodes however are tied, because I loved conquest, just shredding through the rebels in an ATAT. Meanwhile, galactic conquest and just killing people is great. Online and offline. 2017 has extremely online-based gameplay, which is annoying b.c Optimum is not as satisfying as it should be. 2005 however, has a balance of both, which is what makes it better. 2017 is 95% of its content online, while offline gameplay is absolute trash. Conclusion. I like SWBF2(2005) better, because it is cheaper, it has almost as decent gameplay, it has better maps, it isn't rushed, and it has mods.
I had a friend who had Star Wars Battlefront II(2005) on console and we played it like all the time on the split screen mode. We either worked together as clones or went against each other when it was galactic civil war.(I fought for the rebellion while he fought for the Empire) I have the PSP edition of Battlefront II(2005) which is basically the same thing except it has less maps, you can't destroy enemy ships frominside and no rise of the empire.
What I really expected from the Old battlefront 2 was the final mission to be on Endor, crushing rebels and at the final cutscene we get to see Death Star 2 blowing up from Endor, unfortunatelly it ended on Hoth, but it was an Awesome campaign, especially playing it with the battlefront extreme mod.
I prefer the new game, it’s a huge improvement over the 2015 game and it is also a huge improvement over the original. I enjoyed the original, I played it for 6 years, but it’s become really stale. Flying is slow, gunplay is clunky, ai is terrible and unfortunately the graphics don’t hold up to today. I love the new campaign. The old campaign is a story we already knew thanks to the moves and it had boring multiplayer objectives. It also didn’t have any new maps specific to the campaign which sucked. The new game also (will) feature more maps then the last. I count the old battlefronts space maps as the same, due to the fact that the only things that changed were models, layouts and skyboxes. I also prefer the heroes in the new bfII. It is true that the old game had a lot of heroes, but apart from models and a few recurring abilities, they were the same, here we have unique characters with abilities like force freeze, mind trick etc. To be honest I don’t even know why galactic conquest is so loved. Yes, I have played it multiple times, but all it is is randomised instant action. Before you bash the new game for progression, the old game had neither nor customisation. Bash me all you want, I just took off my nostalgia glasses.
Every criticism you just stated can be removed through a remaster so why reject the game design of the originals and take the EA versions instead? If we look past graphics and outdated technology you can see the originals and an emphasis on choice, freedom and immersion.
General Organa While that isn't a bad thing for you like it cause it's own game when we compare battlefield to it which one would be played more and has more replay value This game already on death row with all the negativity surroundings and other shit I wanted to drive the republic gunship and the AT TE in battlefront 2 EA it holds your hand like a child vehicles on rials kill streaks forced down a path instead of exploring the entire map only one person drviable vehicles dumb down classes compared to the old one etc and their plenty more And the old one didn't need a progression system cause their was multiply if it was update in 2018 then maybe a progression like battlefield and nostalgia isn't an argument
landen scott but I respect the fact that your not lynching me for liking the new game. I am convinced that an extremist hater is going to appear any second now and show a knife into my back.
General Organa OMG HOW DARE U DISRESPECT THE 2005 GAME jkjk lol im 14 and i found stbf 2 (2005) 2 years ago. I fell in love with it and still sorta play it but it does get repetitive and i agree with the space battles and that sometimes they only add like 1 more frigate. I get what you say and what you mean.
Honestly, i feel like the ATAT on rails is way better because i remember in the original ppl cheesed around with ATATs walking off to where they were of no use, and having such an important vehicle up to be steered by trolls is way less cool than just having the thing walk towards the objective, because why wouldnt it? And then have players controll / fire the thing on rails. Its of course straight up to prefernce but i guess i am one of the few people that liked that change in the new titles.
Probably the biggest thing I wish they would carry over from the 2005 BF2 to the 2017 BF2 is the vehicles. There should be more of them and they shouldn't cost battlepoints that could otherwise be spent on heroes and special troops... and they should allow for multiple players to be in one vehicle, depending on what it is. For instance the classic droid tanks should have one person driving and firing the main guns, while the other person fires the big cannon on the top. And like the 2005 BF2 and the Battlefield games, you should find them at spawn points throughout the battlefield. Another thing they should bring back is being able to choose where you want to spawn.
I resently started playing bfII 2017, and there some aspects that you mention of the 2005 one that I truly miss in 2017 BFII. But thing that took away that I of 2017 bfII is that I like the way that did multiplayer. It's kind off mission based and I like it. Every character are interactive from one to the opposite based on the play outcome, and I think it's cool.
Mods make OG SWBF2 alive and playable almost decade. I have Battlefront Extreme mod, which is give the game improvement in classes, heroes, and firepower, buffed yet balanced. Put reinforcement count and bot deployment to maximum, and i have the most intense shooting game i ever played and i can play for everyday. No lootboxes, no microtransactions, no pay-to-win shit. Just pure satisfaction.
It's a no brainer which is the better game in terms of gameplay. Devs don't seem to care about gameplay anymore. Just visuals and finding intricate ways to get you to keep spending money on it.
And visuals and everything but gameplay increases the budget by a lot. I wouldn't mind if the graphics were weaker and they wouldn't hire voice actors for lots of money and spend a bit less on things like facial expressions and motion capture and sounds. OK, for me sounds and animation are important, more than graphics. But the thing is that man indie developers do a lot from fractions of AAA budget. Now, it's a visual competition, and they don't give a crap on gameplay. Cutscenes, are also really expensive because of motion capture and facial animations. While we don't get too much information about Galaxy in Turmoil (which was originally meant to the a Star Wars themed, Battlefront style game), they leaked out a gif for example, which looks pretty damn good. That game is made by a small team, the game will be free to play and I have a feeling they can compete with Battlefront in term of gameplay.
I my self got into gaming back in 2005 becouse of Battlefront 2 and Runescape, and since Battlefront 2 came out I have been making content for youtube about it! Not even close to you, so for now all I can do is look up to you :D PS.you modded Battlefront 2 (2005) right ? :D
my list of which did better in what catagory... Star Wars Battlefront 2 (classic) - 1. Better execution of uniqueness to classes between each faction. 2. Better execution of hero characters, they even got the original voice actors for each hero to boot! (not sure about Boba though...) They even stayed true to canon, so you won't see Han Solo with clone troopers fighting Darth Maul or something. 3. Better gameplay and modes! Galactic conquest, instant action, capture the flag, assault, hero assault, Space battles, Space assault, Space ctf, imperial enforcer (on psp), rogue assassin (on psp), rebel raider (on psp), hunt, Online (it counts, due to the steam version's online servers being brought back), a single player campaign (on consoles, you can do the campaign cooperatively with a friend in split screen). The campaign has a few unique faction fights. Like clones vs. storm troopers, clones vs. jedi, storm troopers vs droids and geinosions! Galactic conquest in it of itself is pretty addicting in a good way. you make progress by taking control of as many planets as you can, while fighting for control against the opposing faction. the further you go, the harder it gets to compete with the enemy. to keep a consistant sense of progression, every fight you win you earn points, which are an in-game currency and can be used to either purchase more classes or temporary buffs to your army. stuff like Extra reinforcements for a fight, tougher armor, or even a hero assisting you in battle. 4. PC version is compatible with mods and it's much easier to apply mods to it. 5. Better scale for fights. the presence of bots filling the battlefield makes the battles feel bigger! plus with online having more than a 20 vs. 20 player limit, that says a lot. 6. a more engaging story. you follow the journey of clones for the 501st legion throughout the majority of the star wars saga, the convaded emotion narrated by a clone of the 501st. it showed us what was going through the clone's heads during events like Order 66.
The thing that hurts me most when playing the new game (Aside from the vehicles) is multiplayer instant action. I'm not big on big competitive. Never have been. BUT I LOVED playing Battlefront 2 (2005) with a couple of friends ON THE SAME TEAM fighting against the AI. And that just is not an option with EAfront 2.
I like the new vehicle system more. It was a bit odd seeing a clone trooper just jumping in a hell fire droid. It also stops people from just jumping out the vehicles and using them as easy transportation and then abandoning them like they do in battlefield 4.
Don’t forget Galaxy Conquest where you could win strategic battles to conquer key planets and areas of the galaxy during the Clone Wars or Galactic Civil War!! No game comes close to that! However, Battlefront II (2017) allows us to play as heroes or villains without a time restriction, which is really my only gripe with the original Battlefront II...
Asides from the obvious like graphics, I like the battle point system and gun customization but that's it. Everything else about the old game is better. The diverse maps, conquest, needing skill and brain cells to do good, galactic conquest, the crazy amount of vehicles, teamplay, choosing where you spawn, boarding an enemies ship, the list goes on
I need capital ship boarding in my space battles, it just made it so much more interesting and gave me something to do while shooting enemy ships. I could turn the reinforcements up to max and completely destroy an entire fleet and then take out the ships to fill out the rest of the points, now though it's boring to do that in the new SWBFII as all you do is just shoot ships that fly around stupidly.
Amen brother
Amen

Don’t forget about the single player content. In 2005’s Battlefront 2 you can get everything that you can get in multiplayer offline.
Thats what i really hate about new games in general. And i am both a big fan of the original battlefront games and EAs new ones.
So true
I hate ea
This might have been due to console limitations at the time, for if you played on PS2 then you couldn't play online without a network adapter. Still it made for a very serviceable game offline and a very chill and fun sandbox that the new one lacks.
finally someone said it!
Very good point.
Emperor Palpatine that's why we need a glactic conquest gamemode.
Don't forget the perfect moments to Kamikaze into people/vehicles
You can have two people on speeder bikes
Deathbringer oh boy speederbikes!
12 years of technological advancements and the 2005 version still has lots more content.
Noob Fury that's what I'm saying!!!!!
Noob Fury just proves how much of a downgrade gaming has become in terms of fun
Lucas Sanchez the maps look pretty but they are pretty derivative in terms of mechanical design
Can I express how badly I want Battlefront 2 (2005) remastered on consoles with mod support.
Ven Numb that’s also what I want
I'd probably complain about the reboot culture for, like, a day....But heck, I would buy that shit lmao
Mod support would be kind of hard because pretty much all of the mods are on and for the PC version
You got one of those things buddy
501st >>>>>Inferno Squad
RonaldLil true!
indeed
RonaldLil Delta Squad>>>>>
delta squad is on the top, and well, for the empire SCAR squad is the coolest
BarbwireBlast Both are cool, but I still prefer the 501st over delta squad, specially since they were the ones involved in Operation Knightfall.
Battlefront 2 for gameplay
Battlefront EA 2 for visuals
That's really only because BF2 EA was made 12 years later.
Gameplay >>>>> Visuals, just look at fallout
Aethere_ Nocturna oh geez, you people complained when EA didn't take any inspiration or content from the OG bf2. You guys said, " just remaster the OG bf2 with newer graphics! ".
Now, the devs have actually listened to you people and took a lot of inspiration from the OG bf2 and you call them ripping off the OG bf2?
If the old one gets a huge graphics and models rework, there will be no way for the new one to beat it.
That's all I think most people wanted (at least me) for the new game but instead while still fun it is watered down heavily based on MP. Where as if they focused on the single player and adding likes conquest mode like they did before I think the new one could become one of the best but till then I will think of it as just some nice graphics with a star wars theme
It’d also need an engine upgrade I think. Could be wrong about that.
Mods
Old school battlefront 2. i remember playing this with my cousin back in 2007 and it was on play station 2. its so addicting
Somehow it just keeps you coming back
Kryo pretty much
Used to play old battlefront 2 online back then. We plugged the broadband behind the console. I miss it ...
Sir Lancelot Played it a lot on PC back in 2006-07. It really was so damn addictive.
They reupped the old servers, so it’s more alive than ever.
Am I the only one that doesn't want a progression system?
Just pure fun and classes are set like they should be?
No, you are not alone.
I dislike how they used cross era hero's. It really bothered me to play as Rey in the clonewars.
you don't have to play as rey, and you can just think she's just some random jedi, there were 10 000 of them then, one likely looked similar.
super jedi player and boba fett
Bad2theBonz agreed
well, i didn't like the last game that much, but this one is great, (don't care about crates, as i usually just use the crafting parts from them), and the cross era isn't that awful if you explain it that way, it's actually quite good.
Bad2theBonz why do you care so much? Since when was there rebels on utopau or clones on the Death Star. Who cares about immersion. Watch the movies if you want to be immersed. It's about fun.
they should remastered 2005 to ps4
James Garciia Muslera ikr I want one so bad
EA wouldn't allow it. They would want people to keep purchasing their shitty version.
😭why ...!!!!!!!!
tman calm down bro.
They just should have made battlefront 2 pandemic but with more content... what it was supposed to be ... i mean why call it even then battlefront if it doesnt have the same content... it just fills my results box with stuff i am not searching for its annoying ... imagine someone made a remake of jedi knight or a sequel and its basically not the the same as the original at its core... thats just milking the name ... so thats my problem in general... ur searching for concept art or battlefront 2 vids now i gotta search and call it the 2005 version or pandemic and hope for the best... why didnt they call it first assault or something as this one never came out and it wouldnt use a already taken name... now i have this situation... i am playn the original and a friend wants to watch me playn so i stream it and he asks what this is and i have to explain to him that its not the one that came out recently that there was one before ... sry for the long rant but i just needed to vent it somewhere -_-
They just had to piggy back off the older game's success unfortunately.
They did it with Medal of Honor 2010, NFS Hot Pursuit, Most Wanted and Need For Speed 2015 as well, even though they had little in common with the originals.
steam - battleferont 2 - nominate for "Best Battlefront 2" award
wait for profit
Just noticed a weird popping sound in a few places. Not sure what's up with that.
One word...."Everything!"
Datch damn that's what I was gonna say lol
Would have been a much easier video to make haha XD
Datch Preach it, baby!
@@Kryobi yeah no kidding
EA doesn't have the guts. And that's fact.
Mega Knight 360 James Fun Fact
What Pandemic's Battlefront does better: (Including Mods, because they're just as much part of the game as the vanilla stuff)
- Freedom and just overall Feel (Movement and Gameplay much less restricted and feels very open)
- Just Free Gameplay (No weird and and far too short stages, you do whatever you want to do and get to play for a while)
- Play Anything (Horror like HvB or Fun like Beach Troopers, Great Stories like Aldura, Extensive Gameplay like BFX)
- Amount of Content (Hundreds of Maps, Classes, Weapons, Vehicles, Heroes etc., just so much to choose from)
- Even more Eras (basically any you can think off and even ones from other games)
- Maps (Are Bigger, have much more accessible areas and a lot of AI running around, also flanking and tactic exists on them)
- Classes (Much more to varied classes to choose from with far more interesting and useful weaponry)
- Weapons (Much more Blasters and Gadgets to choose from)
- Vehicles (Multi-Person Vehicles you can drive or fly yourself without the stupid rails)
- Force-Sens. Heroes (Much more varied attacks, much better movement and just fun gameplay)
- Space Battles (Freely leading a battle destroying or sabotaging the enemy capital ship is great)
- Campaign and Mod Stories (Much more Interesting stories and fun objective play)
- Modes (Conquest is unbeatable)
- Community (Is much more passionate and creates amazing mods)
- Developers (Actually care about their player base, hell they were the ones to add mod tools for us to use)
- Offline Gameplay (It's super fun, the opposite of DICE's repetitive, soulless dull and empty version of offline matches)
- Galactic Conquest (Can be pretty fun)
- AI (Hell, even they have a certain charm compared to DICE's robotic, sluggish and useless AI XD)
- No Microtransactions, nor season passes and everything is unlocked through gamepay
What DICE's Battlefront does better:
- -A Progression System (Ranks and tons of star cards to unlock and upgrade)-
- Graphics and Cinematic Feel (Smoother Gameplay)
- -Customization of the Classes (You can choose the weapons and star cards you want to use)-
- -Multiplayer (Barely anyone plays 2005 online and 2017 can definitely be fun, also larger player base)-
I wasn't gonna be that harsh on 2017, but DICE can't stop giving me reasons to hate their Battlefronts.
Arek15Arek
perfect summary/ EA doesn't want it to be anything like battlefield, they want to make it
it's own series which is stupid
Battlefront 2 (2017) was rushed and uninspired. The greedy monetizing scheme was the "final nail".
Nailed it.
Arek15Arek Mods are definitely not “just as part of the game as the vanilla stuff”. If you got the game on Xbox or PS2, you don’t get mods.
STAR WARS BATTLEFRONT 2 2005 ITS THE BEST STAR WARS GAME WHO EVER MADE AND NO SHIT GAME OF EA WILL CHANGE THAT
I really LOVE both games, they are fun and immersive, but yeah, I think I prefer the old game :)
Good vid!

OG battlefront 2 is the best thing to come from the
prequels
jacob fuller true. There was so much hype for nothing. Let the time fix the mistakes from EA. I hope they listen the players
Or give the original owners of battlefront back to them
Melhor nick!!! kkkk
Bruno Kühn hehehehehe
It did everything right. Talking about the older one!
Lego Star Wars the complete saga wasn't bad either
I miss the hunt mode wher eyou could play as Sand people or Wamps
I agree with pretty much everything except for the campaign bit, but that really just comes down to personal preference.
I completely agree about the Jedi Flashy Jumping. It was sooo satisfying in the original BF2, but yeah I also understand that it needs to be balanced in EA’s BF2
Ikr, 2005 is better a lot things u can do but they only cares about gaming right now is animation and graphic
Very professionally done, you've got some good editing skills , and would agree to everything except the campaign, just my opinion though
Thanks, I appreciate it!. Understand how you feel about the campaign, that part is quite subjective.
♥
Bastiaan Wiltjer Well hopefully they change it. But seriously it doesn't deserve a 0.9/100 rating.
ur one of the people making this game still alive :) and i do like how the new BF2 has more realistic graphics, and imagine that in the old BF2...thatd be sick af
You could have made this video 5 seconds by just saying “everything but the graphics”
What the 2005 version did better then the new one?
Everything, every God damn thing
the new game is actually trash
Great video! Nothing else to say. Just great as always
:D
The game is trash, for no reason!
You broke the rules! You broke the rules!
ARC Trooper 147 2017 or 2005?
Nope 2017 is trash for SOOOOO many reasons, first is lack of content, all they had to do was remaster 2005 but no nope everything is worse except visuals
Kryo we're not allowed to use dyes
Considering it's made by such a huge publisher and backed by Disney, to make such an AVERAGE game..... yes, that would make it trash...
This game was OP for 2005 and challenged games of today
Honestly all ea had to do was remaster battlefront 2 and the would've been heroes
Battlefront 2 (2005) is Legends and Battlefront 2 (2017) is canon proof that Battlefront 2 (2005) is better
2005
Best Star Wars movie and game
Liverpool greatest comeback UCL final
For me as a star wars and Liverpool fan this was my best year
1. Everything
The second you said that battlefront 2 2005 mods were the basis of your chance I instantly subscribed and hit the bell
////////////SPOILERS FOR THE CAMPAIGN/////////////////
The campaign had a great Star Wars atmosphere to it but it again plays the cliche “imperial troop realizes he/she is fighting for the wrong side and turns rebel” bullshit.
Glad you like the vids! I feel the same way about the cross era heroes. I heard that once there are more heroes added they may get rid of that though.
battlefront 2 (2005) did everything better than battlefront 2 (2017)
Slap 2017's graphics & engine on 2005
Scrap those trash ass lootbox's/starcards
Slap in some new maps/guns
And you'd have the best star wars game of all time
But nope, I'm not buying stbf2017

The one thing i like about BF 2 2005 is there is gonk droids :)
i like the originals better but i feel like all people do is compare when they really are not similar except for the name
They are definitely hard to compare as they never really set out to achieve the same things. However, I think it's fair to compare them as they are supposed to be the same "franchise" of Battlefront games.
Father Of Memes since ea and dice are continuing off of an old franchise people have every right to compare
If they didn’t go out Of their way to tarnish a beloved franchise we would all care a lot less.
I guess people can’t post a comment without getting waves of hate
10mikey I disagree with one of the best pvp games to date part. So many games such as Jedi knight and first person shooters like battlefield do much better because battlefront’s gameplay gets stale. I’ve played it for almost 10 years and it’s gotten boring if there are no mods. If you are talking about how the horrors of war are presented, I would agree even though games like republic commando also did a really good job presenting that.
Here's just my opinion of SWBF2(2005) compared to SWBF2(2017). Here's how both did.
Spawning:
Command posts, of course.
Heroes:
The timer was probably the best thing that was done.
Modding
No brainer, the 2005 takes the cake. Only problem is though it crashes a ton, but the modded maps are great. It can only be better (except on steam) when the servers support mods and allow you to play Coruscant with many other people
Campaign:
Note, I did not play the campaign, I just watched gameplay of it.
Well said sir.
4:45 is this one of your videos? That umbara mod looks epic!
Yup, it's a pretty old one. I think it was one of my first Battlefront 2 mod videos actually.
Oh... it easy quastion
1) You can create mods and maps
2) Much more character, starfighters, maps, game mode
3) NO lootbox
EA allowing modding? Are you serious?
People are already modding the 2015 Battlefront
Kryo with UNofficial tools my man
With very minor mods that EA will close your server over.
EA will allow modding on the new Star Wars Battle Front when hell freezes over.
They’re already allowing mods in Battlefront 2
I had a friend who had Star Wars Battlefront II(2005) on console and we played it like all the time on the split screen mode. We either worked together as clones or went against each other when it was galactic civil war.(I fought for the rebellion while he fought for the Empire) I have the PSP edition of Battlefront II(2005) which is basically the same thing except it has less maps, you can't destroy enemy ships frominside and no rise of the empire.
The new one is so boring after the campain.
I kind of like how it ended on Hoth which was a great victory for the Empire.
EA don't have high ground!
Finally someone who mentioned the mods!
General Organa
While that isn't a bad thing for you like it cause it's own game
when we compare battlefield to it
which one would be played more and has more replay value
This game already on death row with all the negativity surroundings and other shit
I wanted to drive the republic gunship and the AT TE
in battlefront 2 EA it holds your hand like a child
vehicles on rials
kill streaks
forced down a path instead of exploring the entire map
only one person drviable vehicles
dumb down classes compared to the old one
etc and their plenty more
And the old one didn't need a progression system
cause their was multiply
if it was update in 2018 then maybe a progression like battlefield
and nostalgia isn't an argument
landen scott it has the same amount of replay value as the new one...
landen scott but I respect the fact that your not lynching me for liking the new game.
The 2005 version looked out for those wrist rockets
Honestly, i feel like the ATAT on rails is way better because i remember in the original ppl cheesed around with ATATs walking off to where they were of no use, and having such an important vehicle up to be steered by trolls is way less cool than just having the thing walk towards the objective, because why wouldnt it? And then have players controll / fire the thing on rails. Its of course straight up to prefernce but i guess i am one of the few people that liked that change in the new titles.
Agreed.
You made the video structured very well
Thanks! I appreciate it :)
Sorry but how do people like the campaign in BF2 (2017) it’s so poorly written it’s cringey.
KOSVENDETTA some people dont like sand and some do.
All I want is this exact game, just with the high quality HD graphics. That would make me shed a tear of joy.
Sorry buy I hate the new battlefront, originals all the way
Probably the biggest thing I wish they would carry over from the 2005 BF2 to the 2017 BF2 is the vehicles.
Also, I like how you can constantly sprint In new one rather than being limited in old one
this vid is awesome dude i subbed the old battlefront 2 is my favourite star wars game
You did forget ONE thing. You can play as Anakin Skywalker’s yellow Jedi StarFighter in the space battle of Battlefront II (2005).
battlefront (2005)=GOAT!! they need to put todays graphics in that game idc how long it will take as long as i KNOW it is being done then idc!
The #1 thing on my list was the ability to change sensitivity between troopers and heros and campaign was awesome
Nice mod coverage "subscribed"
You are spot on my friend. This new Battlefront has far less freedom than the old games far Less freedom.
I agree it was Sooo much fun to be able to Hop in And Out of a Vehicle anytime you wanted too. Lots of freedom
THEY should make this GAME Playable on PS4
SERIOUSLY MAN. Just love the classic BF2
Why cant you play it on the PS4, its not backwards compaible?
Kryo, I have to admit, I really enjoyed this video :D
Awesome! Glad to hear it!
I my self got into gaming back in 2005 becouse of Battlefront 2 and Runescape, and since Battlefront 2 came out I have been making content for youtube about it! Not even close to you, so for now all I can do is look up to you :D
PS.you modded Battlefront 2 (2005) right ? :D
Nice! Keep on making videos man :) I don't mod it myself, just play the mods (if that's what you're asking).
Kryo yup, that's what I meant ✌️ as it was something I didn't see before and thought maybe I didn't get to see it back in 2005 😂
I wish they would include the quality and gameplay of the new battlefront 2 with the content and depth of the original.
For swbf 2 (2005), most importantly: IT HAS GALACTIC CONQUEST!!!!!!!!
Exactly I really don't know why people compare these two games when there pretty different from each other!!!
That definitely makes it hard but it's fair to do so in my opinion since they are supposed to be from the same Battlefront "franchise".
they both have the same now
and one is ridding off of the success of the other
Hasani Toro Because the new games are a joke. They use the same name but they disgrace the battlefront legacy
This video proved some pretty good points, honestly. Even tho I am still biased towards 2005. Like a lot
my list of which did better in what catagory...
My favourite thing in classic bf2, Operation knightfall
Excelente video maestro Kyro :) saludos desde México
Everything.
What Battlefront 2 (2005) did better then the (2017) was EVERYTHING.....
