Name a popular Dancehall riddim from the mid to late 1990's. And i can bet you Steely and Clevie were the original players behind that riddim. Especially most riddims from out of King Jammy's, Redman and Music Works.
Not only Steely & Clevie dem. There were other groups/digital players in that time. The Firehouse Crew were about this time also building mainly for the legend King Tubbys down in Waterhouse, NOT to forget the duo that came fron the UK - Mafia & Fluxy who spent months down in Yard & built a reputation for themselves in the 90's building tuff riddims for Germain - Penthouse, Gussie Clarke - Music Works, Jack - Black Scorpio, Jammys & never forget the great Winston Riley - Techniques label. Steely & Clevie did lick some tuff riddims for him too. There was another wicked builder in New York called John "Sir Raphael" Allen who beat some bad riddims for Philip Smart, Jah Life & the great Robert Livingstone all 90's riddim but yes, Steely & Clevie ah de greatest in my eyes. Real ORIGINAL giant dem man deh who set this whole Oberheim DX & Casio ting off.
