That poor man John. It brings back a memory of my grandmother lying on her floor with a broken wrist. She had to go into care facility after that. She passed a few months later. I miss her every day. She always said "You can't control the weather or what other people did."
So sorry...my Grannie fell and broke her hip and nobody found her for at least a few days. She lasted a couple of years in a nursing home but never was the same...but for the one night I drove to see her. She knew me and remembered everything. Just her old self. Then she never talked again.
So relatable to both of you. Lost my grandma july 6th 2021. All because my b!tch of a cousin left her alone for hours on end and she couldn't see well had to go to the bathroom fell broke her hip then sat soiled and in pain. She was put in a rehab place that didnt last long. She was forced to get the covid shot, got covid. Then couple weeks later ended up in hospice. When she could still talk she told my mom she was ready to be done with it all 😢 but then tried to fight to stay alive but she was too far gone with her body shutting down. Most painful thing to see and go through. Took her 2 weeks to pass away. I almost couldnt bear to go see her but didnt want to have the regrets of not doing it. She was there when i was born and i was there for her at the end. I wish i could go back and have more time with my loved ones. Then my aunt passed 7 months later.
Excellent job getting everything ready before removing the towel and taking care and thinking of everything and taking him to the hospital. Well Done everyone
I have a question about Harry's care. Why didn't they elevate his leg when they had him in the ambulance? Was it bc he had controlled the bleeding on his own before they arrived? I still would have elevated his leg onto the stretcher at least while he was sitting in the chair during transport 🤔 just to cma...lol 😆
The old fellow who had a bad fall? As aging people, Spouse and I have taken measures to make our house more navigable and less likely to have things in the way in case of a fall. #1 - ONLY THE FURNITURE WE ABSOLUTELY NEED. I had a lot of memories tied up in our furnishings. Very sentimental about it being the first good furniture we bought for our house. However, it was big, heavy and interrupted the foot paths between rooms. It went. We also took down doors that weren't necessary. The door between the foyer and inside - gone. The one separating dining room from living room - *poof* Make open and clear paths between rooms. #2 - Knick knacks and tchotchkes - gone. Unless you have someone to dust all the brick-a-brack, it's a chore aging people are less likely to attend to. Also, you can get hurt. Spouse caught his toe on a corner and went down, knocking off a glass trinket and coming down on it with his knee. That meant a trip to Quick Med and stitches. Listening to the cussing and howling, I took stock and got rid of all but the really important statues and souvenirs - which went on a bookshelf out of the way of walking areas. Getting old requires pragmatism and often brutal decisions about making one's house safer.
Sounds like you and your wife have made some very smart changes to make your home safer. Good for you! We’ve done the same in our home. I’m very prone to falls.
Yes. I went to PT and take Yoga. I’m 75 and in great health, but my husband worries that I will fall, because I slipped in a store in 2007 and cracked my hip. My balance has really improved.
I absolutely love this show, my most favorite show ever ! im in the US and you wont find our paramedics this nice, sad to say but its true, you do get the occasional one who is but most are rude or dont talk to you at all, but this lot just makes my heart proud to see them care about the patients so much , i would love to see more episodes of this please :)
I once had a pair argue with me about whether my sick daughter needed to go to hospital. She ended up in ICU for three days. US medics could learn a lot from the UK. Not all of them are like that though.
@@janetseidlitz5976 i agree 100% i know they are under pressure alot but that doesnt mean they cant show compassion, my opinion is alot in the US could learn alot from the UK lol
What a ridiculous notion. I wonder what ails you that you’ve managed to encounter every paramedic in the entire United States. Being that the common denominator is you, perhaps it’s not the paramedics.

Why the daughter, her husband and the son could not help clear that snow for their dad I would like to hear their excuses. Maybe they only had one shovel and took turns.
I think it's cute that they call this a blizzard, and the paramedic is wearing short sleeves. How often do non UK people wear SHORT SLEEVES in a BLIZZARD?! But I get it because I grew up there and I've seen different sides of the world...
I always get nervous and snowball fights because I know damn well that they’re gonna get me right at that moment but I’m warm and then I’m gonna get freaking ice balls down my back 😂
I love how the Paramedics ☃️love the snow! In Hawaii we do too, as we only have snow up on our tallest mountains in🌬 Winter (Mauna Kea)🗻, and sometimes on Maui Mt. Haleakala.🤙🌞
As a retired American nurse I’m surprised the paramedics didn’t have the patient use the stretcher to elevate his leg in the ambulance at least. The journey ended well, so maybe I’m over cautious.
I was noticing how narrow that and most of these homes doorways and hallways are, that back board was barely wide enough for John and they still kinda had to almost squeeze through it. How on earth would u get a sofa or something similar in size through those halls and doors?
I'm with him on that though. I've never liked Michelangelo's fresco in the Sistine Chapel with God and Adam. I also absolutely hate when my hand touches someone else's when they hand me something, or vice versa. I like that people have moved to fist or elbow bumps instead of handshakes too.
Oh how I wish they would give them Zofran for the nausea that MSO4 can often give people, esp. the elderly. Avoiding the risk of aspiration of vomit. Poor John...I feel so heartbroken for him. At least in the UK a trip to the ER/hospital won't cost them their homes like here in the US. I hope to never have to go to the ER ever again, just die here in my home in my sleep. With the life I've had it probably won't be that easy though. Lovely snowy day there! Last time I went to ER I was close to the shape and pain in my upper GI and difficulty breathing and the Dr. when they finally saw me after many hours cursed me out and accused me of wasting his time. And how we will pay the bill is beyond me. I'm disabled and my husband contributes little to our income. Never again!
I'm so sorry for what happened to you! Unfortunately! This happens a lot in the United States. You would be mortified about the amount of hospitals that misdiagnose and kill people yearly. Most never are held responsible for their actions because lawyers refuse to help. I don't put up with it anymore though. I call anyone in power with the hospital file complaints now and give a review. The hospital here in Georgia almost killed me in 2011. The surgeon cut the sack that held my spinal fluid and I contracted sepsis. The hospital treated me worse than some people treat animals 13:58
I wonder why they don't call an emergency doctor in to administer more/different pain meds and supervise everything, since the old gentleman is clearly more hurt than a run of the mill broken arm.
Do they have snow plow Crews in the UK? I know it doesn't snow there much, but it would be a lot safer for people to drive if there are. I live in a place where it snows a great deal. We got 2 feet of snow out of one blizzard. Sorry, I can't translate that into centimeters.
Thank you for showing that haul. It is interesting to learn that painted and unpainted aluminum is put together. If you didn't crush the foil, would they still take it and pay the same? Wouldn't you receive more if you salvaged the different metals from the vehicle? Do you break down all your large appliances to be able to haul them? Does the scrap yard take odds and ends of plastics of different grades? Where does the scrap yard send the items they buy from scrappers? Have wanted to ask you and June how you are settling in and I know it is too soon, but what additional responsibilities have been added to your daily list of must do jobs? Be safe you two.
@@animehuntress9018 yeah because regarding patients it's all subjective. So I understand that concern regarding administration of ketamine. I have a mother who by the way is from England has never had a suture, never had a broken bone and she would swear life is ending because she had a splinter!! So I get it.
Ketamine is a very strong pain reliever best given in the hospital by an MD. The side effects are unpredictable as well and you don’t want to find yourself trying to control a wild patient alone.
I have heard of it being used on ambulances in the US before and seen it work wonders when moving elderly patients with broken hips before, that's why I asked. Actually saw them give it IRL to a woman's after a severe motorcycle accident when she has a compound fracture to her tibia and fibia.
I've had more snow than that fall in my yard in an afternoon. I wonder what you people would do with a meter and a half fall one night, then another meter fall the next night.

Broke my heart when he spoke of his wife passing. 🥺
Omgosh that one older couple, the cool man with the broken hip possibly.....they are so sweet, when they held hands. Made me tear up.
I wish ppl here in the U.S. were as sweet and polite as these ppl are.
All these paramedics are polite and respectful of patients of all age groups. That is so important in making someone feel comfortable with their care.
agree 100% with you
So do I .
You are so right
"You are so right" None of you know what people go through and you are saying all of this.
When the patient said " you're so kind" to the paramedic, that was
so lovely
What a lovely way these paramedics treat everyone
