In comparison to the boss and serizawa where they are separated and he's too timid to help him (boss also doesn't really see him as an equal). It kind of shows the subtle different dynamics between the four. Art!

I think being "nerdy" is being conflated with having no social skills because it's always groups of nerds watching anime. Speaking on manga and anime communities in general, they're super outgoing and outspoken and literally wear their pride on their sleeves. Go to any movie premiere and everyone in the crowd is acting like old friends just vibing over what they love. The only reason anyone "had no social skills" was because until recently it was seen as bad to like anything anime and people were ostracized until being nerdy became trendy fashion so all the basic chicks start wearing anything with akatsuki and cosplay thots found a easy way to make money
