- The iconic Oprah Winfrey, director Blitz Bazawule and the cast of “The Color Purple,” including Fantasia Barrino Taylor, Danielle Brooks, Taraji P. Henson, Phylicia Pearl Mpasi, Corey Hawkins and Colman Domingo appear on “The Jennifer Hudson Show” for an exclusive cast talk show appearance. The new musical adaptation of “The Color Purple” will open in theaters on December 25.

I think Danielle Brooks will win the oscar, she gave such a big performance yet her persona is so sweet humble almost understated.
She was so amazing in this role 👏

They stole most of the script and scenes from a funny play version reenactment from students from Lakewood High School in Saint Petersburg, Florida. They did dis in 2011 all the videos r deleted so they can lie and take credit 4 other people's ideas 💡 they thought 💭 we forgot. the book is different from dis.

We had tickets to the JHud Show taping and a few days before the they offered a chance to see it before the taping. That was a blessing in itself, but then find out the date of the taping the cast was the guest, we were so happy. We did not know what our show was about.@@thehoneydeev

It's incredible to see black power all over my screen when I watched this interview. We've certainly, rightfully so, made it so extremely far and to be able to still be breathing in this era when black power is being celebrated and honoured. It's fantastic y'all. One thing I love is how these sister praise each other. Regardless if Tasia is in the spotlight or not, they are happy and present for each other. No jealousy, no envious, just loving one other. Sisters, we must hold each other up like this!!!

This brings tears to my eyes.
After committing to going to see the movie, the day after Christmas, I wasn't sure if I should. This is because I realized that when I had saw this movie years ago, it was a melancholic movie. I am an instructional paraprofessional, at Cincinnati Public schools. I was truly enjoying my winter break and I didn't want to engage in anything that would change the joy that I was experiencing. I decided to go ahead and go to the theater, anyway. This movie is AMAZING!
The 1985 version of The Color Purple is one of my all time favorite movies. I was not even 10 years old the first time I saw it. I can literally find it on tv and no matter what part the movie was on, I would sit and watch. There are so many beautiful moments of strength, love, and perseverance in this movie. I look forward to seeing the new movie and know I will love it just as much! God is all over this group of amazing performers/artists. I teared up several times watching this video.

Great interview! Interesting to see this earlier interview after different layers of drama and revelation I’ve been hearing about since. I wasn’t sure, and still don’t know, how much is real or how much is folks trying to bring black folks down, which crossed my mind.
But the movie was beautiful and well worth seeing, no matter what! It brought me to tears more than once! It made me smile, made me think, and it made me feel. Well done everyone!

Inspirational uplifting musical. Cried when Nettie returns from Africa & when Celie & Suge share a kiss after movie. Also, when Mr's alive after storm in field. He can't be condoned for rape & brutality but he can he human after all. Is his redemption worthy of Miss Celie?
