This made me emotional. She could sing anything and make it majestic from sweet tender sounds to power belts and all in between. We didn’t deserve her

@QUOC.LA0096 2170096 Absolutely. Whitney's voice had many layers! From the softest sweetest notes to the scariest power. She could lure you in with gentle tenderness (like Karen Carpenter) then morph into a roaring lion and blow your hair back (like Pavorotti) She was a true storyteller with her style of singing.
My ONLY regret for her career is that she didn't and/or wasn't allowed to venture off into different kinds of material and different musical genres.
I would commit a felony just to hear a young Whitney singing opera or rock music. She would've been one helluva rock singer with those pipes of hers...enough to put even the most powerful and iconic male rock vocalists (Freddy Mercury, Steve Perry, Steven Tyler, Layne Staley) on notice.
Check out what I consider to be her at her most powerful. A 1986 concert performance of the Dreamgirls I AM CHANGING. It is truly remarkable and probably the greatest live vocal ever captured on audio. It's an epic ten minute showcase of ALL of her registers at full power. It's opera, Broadway and gospel...all in one earthquake of a performance. Just imagine that voice singing rock music.
I'd love to hear your reaction after listening.

@@idiosyncraticparadise1655 Absolutely. Otherworldly, stunning and downright frightening. The London version she did a month later is even more ridiculous, more powerful, more dramatic and operatic. I have the uncut HD sound quality version on my other channel (Eric Dagger) plz Comment there or here and be sure to wear earbuds or 🎧 for the optimum listening experience 😀

I wish we could have gotten some more pianissimo oriented songs from 80s Whitney. Everyone talks about her power belting, but her dynamics were truly unparalleled. She had showcased many different colors and textures to her voice, and her tone was probably the best there was in popular music throughout every volume output she produced. That bright light and agile voice could’ve sang anything back in these days. Love this!

I second this! I’d love to hear more songs like for the love, lonely talking, jesus loves me, who would imagine a king, dancing on the smooth edge etc. where it shows her dynamic range moreso. She often utilized that softer tone on album tracks and deep cuts

Absolutely.
