I never though that I would take writting seriously, besides journaling, but here I am. Great advice, especially for someone who has very little experience.
I think I'm going to shoot for this career while working another one part time and see if just maybe I get lucky with it and make a full career out of it, in which I'll be able to work from anywhere. That'd be the dream.

How’s the journey so far? I took a different path trying to get into YT video writing by starting with a project manager course, doing that part time, then teaching myself writing and editing. So far it’s still a hobby but the people I’ve been able to meet has made it worthwhile anyway. I’m hoping your experiences are as good or better!

@@Joel-pg4yi No writer is ever a perfect grammarian. That is a job of an editor or a proofreader. And even they are never perfect. My editor makes mistakes all the time and I have to fix her mistakes. This is called being human. Writers are human beings there fore NEVER perfect in anything... but willing to take action. That is all.

Contractions: It depends on your audience. I've discovered that an ESL audience doesn't always understand contractions...so it causes more confusion than clarity. If your audience doesn't understand what you say accurately it's a problem for both.

Am I too old? I wasn't into reading as a kid. Then I talk with mom about writing she says it's too late as I meant to read lots of books since Childhood. And in general people say as writing like high level or something job like talent or have to have good head or be born with something
You recommend copy hour. Well, I suppose that's a good sign, that once I learn copy writing like you 3 payments of $400 will be not even worth mentioning (heck the guys behind copy hour buries the fee approximately 20 pages worth of scrolling down. As for me, if I had a spare $1200 lying around, I wouldn't be so desperate to improve my income potential.

I strongly advice people NOT to think in terms of career. Many ruined dreams are built on novels that never sell. Write a diary or help your children with their homework, but NEVER chuck in your dayjob BEFORE you have a steady earner. And for most people, my advice is: don’t write or think or yourself as a ‘writer’. You will be sorely disappointed. But if you can absolutely not live and breathe without writing, write.
I disagree with the "read more because you become exposed to good writers" comment. I have read some terribly written news articles on the internet, supposedly written by people who call themselves "writers". Bad spelling and grammar are commonplace nowadays.
Yeah and street slang words, make me just lose interest in the book.
