As they crossed the street, they came across a man armed with a military assault weapon. He was being interviewed by a team of reporters from Japan, and, as Chariton waited for an opportunity to interview the man, the #BlackLivesMatter protesters began marching directly at them.
The marchers had an unwelcome Pied Piper in the lead: arch-conservative podcaster Owen Shroyer who was using high-powered megaphone to drown out hundreds of marchers, characterizing them as dupes of the establishment for fighting against police brutality.
When Shroyer and his supporters stopped and blocked the sidewalk, a confrontation seemed imminent, with the TYT Politics duo and several other reporters sandwiched in middle. But as the protesters approached the counter-protesters, Byler and Chariton engaged Shroyer in a debate about #BlackLivesMatter, which served to defuse a potentially volatile situation as the marchers passed by.
Shroyer attempted to discredit #BlackLivesMatter by asserting (incorrectly) that the movement was funded by a wealthy white progressive whom conservative media consumers have been exhaustively instructed to hate (George Soros). This rumor had been debunked by credible media outlets, but was continuing to make the rounds among right wing media consumers. At one point an onlooker shouted out, "It's TYT vs. InfoWars," referring to the incendiary and deliberately inaccurate website run by Alex Jones.

I think he's ignorant or arrogant certainly, but he's by no means racist because he's uninformed. I would say if he had been affected by police brutality or oppressed by it his stance would be very different. His stance on BLM I do not agree with, I believe you can fight morally on multiple issues at a time if you're passionate enough. To say that BLM isn't relevant be because of terrorist attacks just seems a sick joke to me. That doesn't make him a racist, but I do think it makes him misguided.

He brought up the "what about black on black crime" argument. That's a pretty typical white supremacist talking point. And he thinks it's all a big conspiracy by George Soros, which is subtle way of saying "it's the Jews who are causing this trouble!"
What the hell has black on black crime to do with white supremacy? Denying that there is a crime problem in many urban areas with a high percentage of the population being black is just going to worsen the issue.
But black crime IS incredibly disproportionate when compared to all other races. Its not racist to point that out. Its something we need to solve, and not just BLAME THE WHITE MAN for. The first thing that needs to be dismantled is the incredibly counter-effective and unfair matrix that is the privatized U.S prison system, which merely perpetuate crime and does not rehabilitate anybody.

I don't get this. There's a white guy with an AK47 in a crowded city area, and the cops do nothing. But a black child all alone in the middle of a park, bothering no-one, playing with a fake toy gun, gets immediately shot & killed by the cops. Methinks there is a double standard.

Tamir Rice was reported initially as being at least 20 to the cops. Furthermore, his "toy gun" resembles a black BB pistol with the orange cap that shows it isn't real removed. I saw the image, and it looked like a real gun. He was pointing it at people in the park, including the officers. The officers were worried they were going to be shot, so they shot first to avoid any police casualties. They screwed up and shot a technically unarmed black kid.
If the kid put down the gun like he was asked, or never brought it out in public and aimed it at people to begin with, he wouldn't have died.
