I agree with the sentiment, although if you care about the utility of your models as playing pieces, some kits can be put together wrong. All warriors would, for example be pretty wrong as a Kill Team player!
Really appreciate you going through and showing the manual and models. I plan to start building a 40k night lords army and your video was really useful :)
1. I think model reviews and *especially* "You can build this and also this" is very very useful. 2. There are absolutely more circumstances where you want a power fist than circumstances where you want a flamer. 3. I used to be able to build a space marine without looking at the instructions and then they changed how they made space marines. :p The *real* value of a model review video is telling you what is possible but not detailed on the instructions!
1. Great 2. True, but those numbers are both close enough to 0 for me to find them negligible. The flamer is a more complete model to have and paint, whereas I dunno, I would find a powerfist leader without the Leader Helmet, shoulders and cape just sort of sad. Like I said in the video, if I cared deeply, I would magnetise the leader, and that would be my advice to anyone that might want a power fist, that way you can have your leader with the leader helmet and cape at all times . 3. Yeah, I think for Kill Team this kind of kit is probably better than the old kinds of kit because undoubtedly, you get better looking poses. IMO the problem with the new design of kit really comes along when you build armies and each duplicated squad is a carbon copy of another, unless you do a lot of more advanced conversion work.
This video was super useful to me. I literally got to building my gunners and went "wait a minute" cause I had heard you could make all variations of them, but couldnt see how from just the instructions, and starring at the sprue it just wasn't clicking to me as a newer player. This was exactly what I needed. Thank you.
I’m glad you are enjoying your Nigtlords. I need to find some minis to make up this team that I like. That said I got considerable joy on Friday when the young lad I gave my Legion Vanguard minis to came to the PKT event with them for his first game, so those at least weren’t wasted.
Enjoyed the vid 🙂I ended up building 9 models in the end. Mashing together the ones needs to build Missile Launcher, Heavy Bolter, Melta and Plasma. I ended up magnetising the leaders weapons so i could mix and match.
NEEDZ MOAR POWA FIST! Loved the video. I think the issue you are trying to describe is how most people are producing the video the algorithm will prefer. Rules, Rules, Rules! However your video is great. Sometimes it is hard to get a understanding of the kit without something like this.
I loved this video. Helped me a lot with what i needed for making my kit. I iwsh there was more people that talked about the biulds and what needs to be done to make it the most effective fornwhat your needs are. Not everyone needs everything or this and that but it helps to have some direction towards making those decisions. Last thing you want is to spend a bunch of money on a kit only to not make it as optimal as possible. Thanks bro cheers
Yay! New video. Sadly, my FLGS got NONE of the copies of Nightmare that they ordered. GW has really let us down with how poorly they’re supporting Kill Team.
Huh? Really? My perception has been that the Salvation and Nightmare boxes have been relatively easy to get hold of, and only the Bheta Decima terrain has been a problem this season. Sad to hear reports otherwise!
i built both visionary options, but had to use a regular nightlords head and a different jetpack detail piece. also glued plasma and melta gunner arms and gun onto the last two options (flamer and warrior only). i also swapped most of the special helmets for nightlord winged helmets for theme i think nightlords has one team build option where you might want 2 warriors with bolters, and thats if you use the heavy bolter and use the shoot twice strat ploy every turn, leaving your 2 melee specialists on the bench. then the option to take a bolt pistol on the leader might be a factor
I was hoping this kit would come with the spure that has the reaper chain cannon that was in the legionnaires kill team box. I really wish they would sell the upgrades separate I got plenty of chaos guys sitting around.
Enjoyed the video :) in the modern day, with kits being more and more linear in instructions. I think it will be of some use to at least a small portion of people, showing them that you can indeed deviate from the instructions. Like how you did your melta and plasma guns. I’m sure of it.
Yep. Loved the vid. Always satisfying to have that info of hands-on experience maximising value from a box... and that's with zero interest in picking this squad up for myself. (Currently I'm up to my neck in spreadsheets to ensure I build my GSC combat patrol to maximise every option for Wyrmblade, Compendium Brood coven, 'combat patrol', plus std 40k!! (And I just like WYSIWYG, for my own mental ease))
Supposedly Kill Team Justian is finally coming for sale at Target Stores in the US. Not sure if there’s a reason to pick this up. Will it still be valid going forward?
It's possible it will still be valid, no one really knows. I had heard it had come to Target stores, and promptly sold out online and in a lot of locations.
Same size as the rest of the chaos space marine range taleofpainters.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/Horus_Heresy_Mk_VI_Space_Marines_Scale_Comparison.jpg.webp have a look at this, it should help.
Yeah, it may not make you feel any better but I don't think GW does it on purpose, otherwise every Kill Team would be a two box Kill Team, it is instead sort of random incompetence.
This particular video wasn’t useful to me personally, because I’m not going to build this team. That said, this TYPE of video can be very helpful, especially when there’s some unforeseen gotcha involved in assembling certain minis.
I took the Plasma gun, not the Heavy Bolter, after i testet both by just rolling dices about 20 times. The Plasma gun was just way better! But im sad because the bolter look so much better 🫣
I admire how much you’re validating the decisions you made to make your models - anyone that ever tells you you built your models wrong is wrong

This is exactly the video I was looking for before building out my nemesis claw kill team box. well done
Thank you, I am so glad it helped you!

Thanks a lot for explaining basic concepts of assembly. It was my first time
Glad you enjoyed it.
Loving the build guide! Built mine today too. I'll stick mine in the discord.
Awesome

Great feeling when you introduce someone to the game!
This is an after work treat. Thanks 😊
Enjoy!

Great work!
Sorry if I missed it! But do you have to use the prescribed heads?
No, you can build the generic heads.
NEEDZ MOAR POWA FIST!

Weirdly, if you watch more generalist warhammer content, hobby talk is usually more popular than rules talk. Really glad you enjoyed the video though!
I knew this would come out, worth waiting before I went full ham sticking my hands together haha
Hope you find it useful!
This is really helpful. I’ll probably have to wait until they release the team separately in June/July (hopefully).
Hope it comes out in a timely fashion for you!

Damn, I just assembled them yesterday. Would love this video earlier : P

I can see the argument, but I think shooty night lords might be a bit of mirage.
@@TabletopImpulse agreed, i dont want to leave half the fun on the sidelines

Sadly not :(

how big are these models ? are they HH mkVI scale or primaris scale ?

@@TabletopImpulse thx
yaaaaay, I like the video
yaaaaaay!
It’s the potential for GW to shaft you & it not be possible to make all the options from a single box that brought me here!
Yeah, it may not make you feel any better but I don't think GW does it on purpose, otherwise every Kill Team would be a two box Kill Team, it is instead sort of random incompetence.
I also enjoy the models, thankyou for flying that flag. 🎉
The models are the main part, right!
@TabletopImpulse Absolutely model kits are cool, fun, engaging. Yet, strangely relaxing.
I mean.... rib cage
Yes, but skull.

Oh, there was never a question between plasma and heavy bolter. Plasma and Melta are both obviously better then either of the heavy gunners.
