many years ago we had a problem with mice .My granny hoped the cat would rid us off them .
One summers day i looked out the bedroom window .Our cat was asleep in the garden .Then I saw a mouse walk right in front of the cat .Right I thought ,nor for the action .The cat suddenly woke ..........then turned over and went back to sleep in the lovely sun .

    Dear Kate,
I love your channel. Thank you so much for sharing all these wonderful insights from the Irish culture. I am Mexican-American, and my grandmother on my mother’s side was from Irish descent, so I am very interested to learn more about this wonderful culture.
I am also a cat lover. My Daphne (a lovely muted calico with ice blue eyes), recently passed away, and she taught me so much! She was such a dignified little creature, so loving and loyal. And so true to herself. Those are some of the things I learnt from her. Once, when I was very sick, she caught a bird and brought it to me, I think she wanted me to eat so I could regain my strength. Although I felt sad for the bird, I felt grateful to Daphne for taking care of me. I think it is amazing how much alike we are to other creatures of nature and how much we can share, enjoy and care for each other.

      @katechadbournebard  24 дня назад

Alicia, I love hearing about Daphne who does indeed sound like a wise and loving creature and who clearly blessed your life as you blessed hers. I am sorry for your loss of her recently. I know how hard that is (I said goodbye to my beloved Mish in March after 17 wonderful years). And I'm so glad that you are learning more about your Irish heritage. There are treasures waiting for you! Thank you so much for your kind words, too! ❤

Go hiontach as always Ms. Kate (& love the phrase *truer* *than* *training!* :) My only experience with a cat was many years ago when I moved into an apartment where one had been left behind by the previous occupants -- she was very guarded and wary but eventually realized she was valued and I have fond memories of her sleeping on my chest. The most miraculous thing about her was that she could speak my name & my roommate's name -- other people did not believe this until one Christmas a friend took care of her while I was out of town and when I returned he said he had become a believer since the cat called him by his name too ❤

"Pangur, white Pangur, how happy we are alone together...scholar and cat." A Monk and His Cat is one of my favorite cat songs from the Hermit Songs by Samuel Barber. It's Auden's translation of Pangur Ban. Reading with my cats cuddled on and around me is one of my favorite ways to spend time. One of my cats, Squarcialupi, embodies "Tá cead ag an chat amharc ar an rí. " He bows to no one.

I've had some dear cat friends over the years. One that stands out was bequeathed to me. Her name was Gemma. She was already getting on but nonetheless she'd sit at the front gate and "psych out" passing dogs. The funniest was a big guy with a big dog from up the road. Gemma would sit and stare calmly at the rottweiler who would Absolutely Not walk along the footpath only passing with a wide berth out onto the road. Much to the man's chagrin. This to me is about standing calmly in one's own power regardless of what confronts. This goes along with creating from one's own integrity which will be recognised and respected.
I love the feline, slightly dark, sense of humour.
Purring I believe to be healing. I'm certainly very comforted when a feline friend is purring on my lap.
I'd say your two are of the Sichat type, having been born on such an auspicious day.

Gemma sounds marvelous and thank you for telling us about her. And talk about "the cat has permission to look at the king." More like, "the cat has permission to look at whoever she likes - including the rottweiler." :)
I agree with you about purring being healing. My two tiny kittens are able to generate quite a mighty purring between them that broadcasts a message of "all is well" that is helping the three of us create a loving bond.
I love that you put them in the "Sichat" category, and I think you are entirely correct!

Rey, my tuxedo cat, is a gentleman. He has dignity, integrity, and sees, but does not comment on, my many ungentlewomanly habits. He appreciates my petting and massages, but does not beg for them. He is undone, however if a bird lights on a branch outside a nearby window, chattering with soft stutters, but when it flies away, he gives a leg a few quick licks, and once again resumes a dignified pose. I have learned patient attention and how to live in the moment from him.

This will put a smile on your face!
Roy Rodgers received a new pair of patent leather, gold inlaid diamond studded spur boots for his birthday
He was so proud of them that he kept lovingly shining them with a soft yellow cloth well into the night .
Time to sleep so he placed them on top of his chest of drawers.
His cat sneaked in when Roy's snoring left him with loads of freedom to frolic. The furry sneaker found the boots to be a great new play toy for chasing his mirrored image around the reflection of the patent leather. The more he chased the image the wilder he got and scratched the daylights out of those boots until the shine had vanished.
Picture Roy's face the next morning! Purple blending in with extreme rage and language to make a sailor blush.
Enter Roy's petit and tiny sweet little wife offering her solace: Pardon me Roy, did the catkin chew your new, new shoe!
