  • Today we are in Loch Ness, Scotland to use my DJI Mini 2 drone to hunt for the Loch Ness Monster. We have footage from the drone, the Go Pro Hero Black 8, the gimbal and iphone, and also additional footage used with permission, or that are free use.
Fact check note on the surgeons photo:
It took another 60 years to reveal the true origins of the Surgeon’s Photograph. Ninety year old Christian Spurling, (Marmaduke Wetherell step son) admitted he had colluded with Wetherell and Wilson to produce a hoax photograph.
Twitter story of the “Surgeon’s Photo”
    / 1280604194144161797
In 2014 after “Official Registrar of Loch Ness Monster Sightings reported no sightings of the creature had been recorded in 18 months. This was the first time since 1925 so much time had passed without a confirmed sighting claims, many feared the Loch Ness Monster was dead. Then Andrew Dixon who was browsing an Apple map of the Loch saw what appeared to be the monster close to the surface of the loch. Possible explanations for the image were it could be the wake of a boat, a seal causing ripples or a floating log. Some even believe the image was Photoshopped using an image of a whale shark. Closer inspection did also reveal the image bore a close resemblance to a Loch Ness-based cruise ship called the Jacobite Queen.
Most scientists consider it impossible for a dinosaur like creature to survive for millions of years unseen. Most sightings are simply explained away by floating logs or unusual waves. Loch Ness is fed from the Moray Firth in the North Sea via the River Ness. The sea is frequented by porpoises, dolphins and whales and seals and dolphins have been filmed in the loch many times. In the last three decades independent scientists have used sonar and satellite imagery to scan every inch of the loch and found 'no trace of any large animal living there'. The Loch Ness monster however is estimated it to be worth in the region of £50 million per annum and more than 500,000 tourists travel to the area every year in the hope of sighting the beast. Reason enough them to keep the secret of Loch Ness secret.

OMG, Karley, this was certainly worth the wait. Loved it so much! IMHO, this is your personal best video to date Your drone footage, narration, use of historical video clips, scripting, editing, and production value are top notch - what one would expect to see on PBS, the History channel, Lifetime, etc. Your choice and use of music, and sound is likewise superb. You've definitely set the highest bar for yourself and other RUclipsrs. Professionally done. Congratulations. You've certainly grown in your ability in such a relatively short time span. Looking forward so much to your next video.🤗 Kuddos to you.
Btw, Karley, you certainly do relate to us viewers drawing us into the wondrous storytelling web you weave.

It's a shame the Loch Ness (Nessie) and it's cousin, the Lake Champlain monster (Champ) doesn't exist. Sandra Mansi took a photo of Champ in 1977 and many have debunked it as a twisted piece of log. There was even an Unsolved Mysteries episode of Champ and Sandra Mansi. However, I do like your thought that despite no evidence or lack thereof that this fabled cryptid exists, we still want to hang on to the sliver of a glimmer of hope that this monster does exist. It draws tourism and income to a small town or country that otherwise wouldn't have anything (or much).

Tourism wouldn’t be the same without these stories for sure.

P.S., Karley, when will your vlog tour of the Loch Ness Visitor Centre and Exhibition be posted for members of this channel to enjoy? 🤔
Btw, responding to your ending question, I think the credible accounts of Nessie sightings are likely attributed to an unknown species of LARGE eels likely indigenous to that waterway.

Notice the ripples in the water at 0:19 - Some believe they are mistaken for the Loch Ness Monster being that the lake is thin and can easily make this effect -

Yep! Wakes, waves, ripples, bird landings, etc all have been mistaken for sightings.
