  • The Anton Anderson Memorial Tunnel connects Whitter, Alaska -- a port town surrounded my massive mountains and water -- with the Seward Highway, which leads to Anchorage. The tunnel connecting Prince William Sound and Turnagain Arm was once only open to only trains, until it was converted into dual vehicle and train use in the early 2000s.
The one-lane tunnel shared by cars and trains is the longest (2.5 miles) highway tunnel in North America.
