      That’s for sure. When she was in her slump, everyone counted her out. Slumps don’t last forever and every athlete experiences it. It’s how you handle it. Coco is a strong determined athlete. She will dominate the tennis world.

      Sabalenka shouldn't be blaming the condition for her loss...as if Coco didn't play in the same conditions. Coco was more resilient and fought like a tiger despite the conditions. She was better than Sabalenka on the day.

    • @chanjiewan6823
      @chanjiewan6823 7 months ago +3

      @MuhGlassRibs She still was never just power. From her young days, she had all the tennis IQ one could have. I don't think Justine was resilient at all. She played like Fed, when she was on, she played so smooth; It's Serena who often dismantled her like Nadal did to Fed.

      @mle6501i understand emotions run high after a loss but it’s about sportsmanship too. Giving credit where it's due doesn’t take away from your own performance, Coco played lights out and deserved more than excuses and hypotheticals. Respect isn't just for when you're winning.

    Coco won today beating Sabalenka! It's UNGRACIOUS for Sablenka to say she was playing her worst. No! Sablenka IMO was playing her BEST and still lost. Give COCO her RESPECT!

      Not true, not a fan of Screamalenka but she did play her worst tennis for a long time.

      I agree. Sabalenka did play well but Gauff raised the level of the game and beat her. It went 3 sets and that is high level of play. I think Gauff played amazing. Sabalenka also tends to critique herself this way whenever she loses. I am happy to see Gauff win as she played so well today, making amazing shots!

      I think it's kinda normal for someone who has lost to feel like they played their worst ... Cut her some slack, it's painful. so sometimes you are just trying to find SOME comfort ...

    Gauff's ability to anticipate where Sabalenka's shots were going and her ability to keep the rally alive won the day.
    Sabalenka didn't help herself by hitting any number of shots direct at Gauff or by telegraphing where a shot was going.
    At this level when you get an opportunity to put the ball away you have to take it.
    Sabalenka failed on numerous occasions to do so.
    Slow conditions favored Gauff but she deserved to win regardless.

    Crazy how her mic was distorted up until she wanted to thank the crowd. Crazy. A lot of people lost a lot of money on this match and alot of people took Coco for the Longshot and won BIG. CONGRATS Ms. CoCo, congrats parents. So glad Coco you didn't give up at 4-1 you hung in there and turned it around. You brought out the dog in you to win. Love you so much as a professional, a big sister a daughter and most importantly a "CHAMPION " it looks good on you. You wear it well. Keep up the great fight to win always. Fan 4 life. CONGRATS

    I love how the French only use French at the French Open! We are lucky in Canada, that we learn French from a young age. At least I could catch every word from Sabalenka and Gauff! Serena Williams spoke great French, BTW. Coco, you are adorable (and powerful!). Great sports(wo)manship from Sabalenka.
