Once you push in the clutch to change gears make sure to slowly let off the pedal even after you’ve changed gears that way it doesnt jerk and is smooth
Headliners, dashes cracking, all normal.. but you did get a great steal. It's so hard to find a manual... you definitely got a nice TL. There is a nice aftermarket scene for it and replacing door panels, seats, and headliners can be done but that dash is a pain to fix. I have an 06 Acura TL that was white with all tan interior. I ended up swapping the interior out for black and re-wrapped the headliner using black suede. Don't forget about the sound system... center dash speaker, 4x 6.5's, and the 8in free air woofer.
Got the same car but with black leather! 6speed is the move 100% such a joy to drive, and the LSD on the manual models makes a huge difference for performance
Yup, my buddy owns one of these, I think it's a 95 w/ 200K+ miles on it, still runs well (but she does have some cosmetic challenges). He put in a $4K exhaust system from RV6 I think years ago. I just wish Acura made the TLX (both 2.0L and Type S) in a six speed manual, with AWD I'd buy one today!
Add on: for all you 04 to 06 guys. Actually all in general. Install an aftermarket trans cooler for autos. Honda did a shit job at designing the original trans cooling for the autos. That's what causes the trans failures.
Great cars. While your slowing to a stop leave it in gear til the rpms drop low then put it in neutral. Engine uses no fuel slowing down like that. I learned in a 97 civic but I heard this is the hardest of them all to learn with.. considering gas is almost 6 dollars a gallon I start 1st out at idle speed it'll come with experience and you save on fuel doing those 2 things. Mine is at 227k still driving like a new car and I've had other ones with 300-350k miles on them that still ran and drove like new. Very fun cars as long as you don't money shift it aka mechanical over rev it by shifting to the wrong gear.. I did it in my first manual and the engine redlined then cut off but I started it right back up and I took off. I'm gonna keep my 6 speed TL for a few more years then upgrade to a 6-6 accord coupe 2013 and up
What other daily mixes this amount of power, performance, practicality, reliability, affordability, comfort and good looks... Probably the g35 and 37... But we know nissan had some quality issues...
Absolutely amazing car! I had a 07 Tech Auto for 2 years and loved it. (My first Honda product) the auto trans in these are basically an electronically controlled gearbox. Seen em apart many a time on the work bench. The 07/08 auto will run forever. Just do oil and timing belt and a valve adjustment every 200k you'll be golden. I loved driving mine on country roads. It would downshift for me and hold a gear while going up and down hills and around curves. It just wanted to be driven! I loved it for about 100k. I beat the piss outta her and traded for my 18 XSE Camry once the torque converter started chattering at around 190k
Thanks for tuning in! I agree 100%. I also had 08 Base Auto that i bought from auction. When I took the first test drive, I thought It had a problem with the transmission the way it would downshift coming to a stop until I read on some forums that the transmission was made the way.. I got used to it and started liking it because it gave more of a sporty feeling… How are you liking the Camry? They did a great job designing that body style.
One of my bois had a stock 06 that has Gold. It was a head turner. Wreck that. Now he has an all black TL S 08. When I just slightly step on the gas it pushes me back in the seat. It's his daily driver.
Bro review the 2005 to 2008 Acura RL it was the Acura Legend back in 90’s. Luxurious and solid like a tank👍. Use to have a 2006 TL . Sold I back in2017. Then bought a 2007 TL TYPE S. It’s automatic and I enjoy it nonetheless.
Sounds like your shifting timing is too fast which is causing the jerking. Stock clutch and flywheel are pretty heavy so you need to wait for the revs to lower to the approximate engine speed you will be at in the next gear before you release the clutch. I did that in my first manual car too shifting like a formula 1 car haha. Same concept for downshift, the reason you almost died due to the jerk is immediate change in engine speed. On a downshift its more dramatic because the lower gear will bring you to higher engine speed. So you actually have to "blip" the throttle right before you release the clutch in the lower gear. Search for a video on rev matching for a better explanation. Theres some interesting techniques on how to do it if you're interested
Great video. I’ve always hatred towards automatic. In a semi truck, in a personal vehicle. But I’m starting to change BIG TIME. If you listen to modern auto, how can anyone shift that effortlessly, smoothly and effectively?
In good condition, the 2004-2008 Acura TLs are nice cars. Same with the Infiniti G and Lexus cars. I also think the 2009-2014 TSX is nice and the TLX is nice.
@@pushhrodd01 something to do where my gauges wouldn’t work. Car would still be driving but the tachometer and speedometer would just fall back to 0. Making it look like the car cut off
69 a bit too much. if i remember correctly, i paid $1700 for this one. it was 6spd and had bout 144K miles. just be patient the good deals pop up randomly
I'm being serious, it's tearing that clutch up the way your driving it.. I mean it seriously hurts to watch. I understand jerk in at take off till u get better but man your doing it in 2nd and 3rd, poor car🤣
GO WATCH MY NEW ACURA TSX 6SPD MANUAL VIDEO IF YOU HAVEN’T ALREADY 🔥🔥🔥
“I tried to downshift one time almost flew through the windshield”😭
I bought my 04 TL 6MT a little less than a year ago and I am absolutely in love with it. An extremely fun daily.
Mad respect for making this video and barely knowing how to drive it. He probably nice wit it by now

Little man braces himself every time he shifts. 🤣

Bruh!!! 🤣

Thanks bro , nice to see someone my age group getting to it with the TL i plan to get one

much needed 🙏 i couldn’t figure out what to do 😂 those new accord coupes are timeless.
Nice money saving tip
Great video young man. These manual TL's have weird shift sequences with a clutch release in the middle so you're doing good 👍🏾
The 6 speed manual apparently have 270 Horse Power with limited slip differential and brembo brakes

The 2nd gen wouldn't be trash if it had a manual option, that's the real difference between it and the 3rd gen.

this was super helpful thanks✅
Just got a 04 mt with a blown head gasket for 1000
. Is it worth the fix ?

Honestly.. that’s a good question. Auto is much easier. I don’t think people that really enjoy manual, drive it for super smooth shifts though.
Also, Thanks for tuning in!

This might be late but I was thinking of getting an 04 TL manual, do you think it’s worth it?
yea man i’ve owned 3 TLs (05 Auto, 08 Auto, 06 Manual) in total and overall, they great cars. they aren’t race cars but they fun & reliable!
@@alshvn870 appreciate it bro 🙏🙌

Practice makes perfect Bigdog, how bout that Yo...😉
sheshh the jerking😭 stay on the clutch for a little longer takes practice
I had a 2004 TL with the Tech package, yo. Had one major issue. Other than that, car was rock solid. Definitely would recommend it.
what issue?
@@pushhrodd01 something to do where my gauges wouldn’t work. Car would still be driving but the tachometer and speedometer would just fall back to 0. Making it look like the car cut off
That car has voice activation too
Keep practice bro just left the cluh slow when change gear And that gonna be the key for Race

Gotta be easy with that clutch be easy treat it like a woman.

“take this bad boy on the road and see what she sounds like” so it’s both genders? also bruh you’re destroying that clutch and shocking the drivetrain
You need some work driving a manual. Need to slip the clutch man
facts 100%
I’m not the best at driving stick either.
yk how to not stall? send that thing evertime😹😹
😂💯
Lol you cannot review a car and be a noobie manual driver. I give you a B for the effort.
