Especially with some dry coconut shells and coconut meat in fire. Smells amazing. Try it. Have some dry coconut burning in fire as I watch video. Also nice insect repellent Great video. Looking forward to next.

What a day fishing, and that looks like a super tasty meal despite the last-minute catch! I'll have to find some banana leaves to try cooking with. Maybe grill the squid on its own and cook the sauce down in a separate vessel, then combine the two later on. I'm jealous that you got to try squid sashimi, I've been keen to get some live squid to try it myself for years now. I've seen that you can take the cleaned body and peel back the thin outer membrane on both the interior and exterior to make the sashimi even more tender, and score it very fine to make for a better mouth feel. Not necessary I'm sure, but it may be worth trying. Hopefully some of that's useful for you, catch you in the next vid!

fantastic video Andy, i know come monday evenings im in for a good un on my youtube feed. Well, it's 7 pm here in Michigan and it is like 15 F.. Let's split the difference and go to Florida where it is like 70 F... LOL Speaking of Florida, I have never caught a GT; but when fishing deep wrecks off the keys.. We would always keep a rod rigged up with a J-hook on a wire leader.. You always seemed to get those "thief" fish like king mackerel or barracuda.. Sacrifice a small snapper for the cause.. If the barracuda was big enough, let him eat his fill and he would keep all the other "thieves" out of the area..LOL I see you got the trolling motor worked out... Good deal..

Watching the GT following you reminds me of the big Wedge Tailed Eagles that follow my 4WD on my annual hunting trip in NSW. They associate the boat, or car, as a food source, it’s really cool to watch. Goes to show how smart some creatures are. Perhaps you should have live baited one of the cod the catch the big fella. Great show mate, see you next week. You inspire me, I’m now on 6 weeks holidays and I’ll be doing a bit of my own boating and hunting adventures- Rona lockdowns permitting😕 🍺🍺🍺🎣🎣🎣🎣🛥💨🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺

Hi Andy. You could try taking a kiwi fruit with you on trips. Kiwi juice tenderisies squid if you let it marinade for an hour or so. At worst you still have a fruit snack.
Hi Andy, I posted a comment awhile ago advising of some changes to your camera and mic setup and it appears you took some of it into consideration. I know you complained a lot in this video about camera issues in this episode, but the content/mic sound/video quality is by far the best you've had so far. I've compared some videos from e510(not sure if your using the new GoPro there) and prior but content was 30fps. But videos after 510 are by far quality wise way better for HD viewing with 60fps which makes viewing your content 100x better. This comment is more of feedback with video/mic quality of your videos. Kudos and keep up the great work man! I am jealous of your lifestyle :)
If you want to know if your potatie is ready, just poke something sharp through the foil. If it goes straight through your potatoe, it's done. Thanks for the vid

Another awesome adventure Andy . We leave Melbourne for Gladstone on Sunday and can’t wait for kayak adventures . Hope to catch up for a fish with you in the future , hopefully Toga out on the Mackenzie.

I liked this one very much. Some good fishing there even though you did not get that dinner fish. I'm sure that if you did that same recipe with fish fillets, it would have been a five-star meal! (I commented as simokah before, I changed the name for the channel since I´m getting slowly into making some content.)
Good to see you have stepped your gear up mate. You need it with those big GT's. We are using 100lb braid mainline and 80lb leaders over in France for the big Wels Catfish which grow to 150kg. Epic film as usual mate.

Andy, loving the content as always. So relaxing to watch a calmly spoken humble fella fishing turquoise waters filled with teeming fish. I’ve started fantasising about the concept of the habitability of those small islands in the fashion of the movie “The Beach”. Is it a feasible concept? You wouldn’t be wanting for fish stock by the looks, just fresh water, fresh veg and shelter? Fish on mate
Thank you for the comment and cheers. Sorry for the late reply. I have been busy creating online fishing courses. In my last video I give a an update on it. Also note, I do see all new comments, this time I just got a bit behind.
Hey Andy! Great content. We love watching your videos. We're on the South Coast of South Africa. Would love to meet up for a fish one day! P. S. Complain to Gopro about your Hero 9. They are generally quick to refund or replace faulty devices that gives you too much worries. I'm slowly but surely watching all of the videos. I started with the latest video and I've currently watched back until 347. Take care. May you have many more fishing trips to share with us.
Ha ha, you are one of my die hard fans, cool. I am trying a bunch of stuff with the gopro, if that doesn't work I will return it. I have had so many invites from SA, but for me it's just so expensive to get there, I'd love to fish there, so many different and new species for me.
@@Andysfishing look at it this way. Your AUD is x10 here. The only expensive thing you would have to buy your entire trip is a plane ticket. 🤣 Looking forward to hosting you one day, mate! 👌
The video was great and relaxing keep it up Andy you cath so many beautiful fish and your timing is great when you post because I just got out of school and ohh my God you were fighter a giant fish ohh my God I'm surprised you didn't keep him. Dang your having big camera problems .

Hey Andy couldn't really tell in the video if you did or not but you need to peel of the skin/membrane from both inside and outside of the squid this helps with it being more tender and getting rid of that chewy texture that people often note when eating calamari, with them being cuaght fresh off the beach like that they should be super tender and delicious!
Thank you for the comment and cheers. Sorry for the late reply. I have been busy creating online fishing courses. In my last video I give a an update on it. Also note, I do see all new comments, this time I just got a bit behind.
Another great video Andy, can't wait to see a bit of 7am sun, it's cold and snowy here in Scotland at the moment. The camera problems are frustrating. I've had no end of problems with the hero 8 and 9 freezing while still recording sound switching off or on by themselves, or just the whole camera freezing up and becoming unusable until I remove the battery and put it back in. Anyway rant over. The video was fantastic viewing

Good work on the new anchoring system. Saves having to move the boat multiple times and swimming out to retrieve it.

@@Andysfishing ya those boards take a beating up front...had to replace mine once also!!!! Tight lines!!!
What a day fishing, and that looks like a super tasty meal despite the last-minute catch! I'll have to find some banana leaves to try cooking with. If you can find dried lotus leaves at an asian market, you should definitely try picking up some of those. They're extremely aromatic and flavorful, and Lo Mai Gai (sticky rice with meat & sauce wrapped in lotus leaf and then steamed) is one of my favorite dishes in the world. I've done a bit of experimenting with ginger leaves from the backyard to add flavor, but I think I need to pre-boil them prior to using them so they release more flavor.
A big tip on keeping the squid tender is to cook it for as little time as possible. It only needs a minute or two of high heat before it's cooked through. Anything longer than that and it starts to get super tough and rubbery. A few minutes on a high heat grill should do. I'm not sure how you'll be able to achieve this on a primitive method recipe like foil-wrapped banana leaves, but I'm sure you'll figure something out. Action packed! Though I think that GT ate better than you did, Andy! haha
He sure did, cheeky bugger.
Outdoor chef life can give you some good ideas for cooking
We found that if you use energize batteries in you remote for your mother guide it will fry the mother board so watch out for that mate and also great vids mate
Good tip thank you
Great efforts on the fly fishing.

Another awesome adventure Andy . We leave Melbourne for Gladstone on Sunday and can’t wait for kayak adventures . Hope to catch up for a fish with you in the future , hopefully Toga out on the Mackenzie.
FIRST hey Andy love your vids man keep up the great content 😁👍
Thank you I will

@@Andysfishing you’re the man brother!!! I won’t stop watching
I liked this one very much. Some good fishing there even though you did not get that dinner fish. I'm sure that if you did that same recipe with fish fillets, it would have been a five-star meal! (I commented as simokah before, I changed the name for the channel since I´m getting slowly into making some content.)
Yes, thanks, the fish was my plan.
Great Vid.Thanls Mate.
My pleasure
Good to see you have stepped your gear up mate. You need it with those big GT's. We are using 100lb braid mainline and 80lb leaders over in France for the big Wels Catfish which grow to 150kg. Epic film as usual mate.
I have seen how big your wels get, I’ve had this gear for awhile and I’ve caught big GTs on it, it’s just sometimes big fish jump on small Lures.
Awesome video. Your way of recording things and the landscape around you is insane!
Thanks a ton!
Good episode andy👌 reminds me back home in the Torres Strait cooking in banana leaf defs brings out the flavour!

Awesome video mate take some more food next time just incase 😉
Next time!

Keep up the sounder and fish id lessons, would have picked the peacock cod as a trout.
love the sounds of Queensland bush
I wish I could justify buying a new sound a bit when mine still works I don’t want to fork out two or $3000
@@Andysfishing Iv'e only got a cheapy so it's a help to me to know what to look for. .
such a good episode!!
Cheers
that last tusky looked like an amazing fish
He sure was a big one
17.45 what a high tec fishing bag you got there 🤣
Ha ha it’s very special to me
Looking forward to hosting you one day, mate! 👌
@@Andysfishing and good luck with the GoPro!
Need to throw the fluff around more Andy 🙂 would be awesome in these spots
Yes I do I just get carried away with filming and then run out of time
Andy, could you do a baracuda catch and eat? Maybe with banana leaf and coconut milk?
One day if I catch the right size barracuda, big ones here are known to have secretary so it’s not a good thing
The video was great and relaxing keep it up Andy you cath so many beautiful fish and your timing is great when you post because I just got out of school and ohh my God you were fighter a giant fish ohh my God I'm surprised you didn't keep him. Dang your having big camera problems .
You got back to back to back of catching fish
It makes happy seeing you happy fishing
That squed was beautiful
2 squeds wow
Raw squed that's something I haven't tried i haven't even eaten squed before
Thanks Andy.
No worries!
Love the channel Andy! 👌Can you catch some tuna in your next video? bless up ✌🙏
See how we go, it would be good
That color of the water though 😍
Cool hey
Another awesome video brother!

Yo Andy, What is that blurred out oblong shape bottom of the screen at 17:50? Weird how it rises up and then tracks out of shot. Aliens?
Hey Andy wonderin if you can just up and build a cabin in them islands to live in and live off the ocean.
Nope that would be breaking at least two or three laws
Hey Andy couldn't really tell in the video if you did or not but you need to peel of the skin/membrane from both inside and outside of the squid this helps with it being more tender and getting rid of that chewy texture that people often note when eating calamari, with them being cuaght fresh off the beach like that they should be super tender and delicious!

Thanks, and a rant is all we can do some days...
Andy's intro music is unparalleled.
😂
Cheers
I'd love to try some barra but can't find it here in the states
They have some in Florida
Ok cool thanks
Loving the longer videos Andy
Cool I make them as long as I have good footage I hate padding videos out, but I will do more overnight trips from now on
@@Andysfishing awesome yep the overnight island videos are my favourite. Love the overnight hiking videos too!
