- 17 year old cordless drill. I think this drill is made in year 2003. The battery is not working anymore, I replace new cells with old battery case. The gearbox is dry with dust inside, I disassembled the gearbox, cleaned every parts, and put it back with new grease. I bought this drill from Japan recycle shop 12$. Nicd battery cells 8*0.6$ = 4.8$.
I hope this video help you know more about cordless drill, you can repair it by yourself.
I am happy to receive your feedback, advice, suggestions to improve myself.
!!! I apologize for the mistake if I have made in this restoration !!!
**I still keep some parts, I want to save the world's environment**
--------------Thank you so much for Likes & Comments--------------
I got this same drill on my 16th birthday from my dad. It still works. I was so happy when dad got me this.
Making use of the ruclips.net/user/postUgkxcJ22tnHH9l1vjdIdEIG27iOG55P7LXI8 reconditioning plan, I just saved 2 auto batteries from being completely junked. The guides were very simple to follow. I wish I would have found this years ago! You may use the guide to recondition any battery type
You should of just made the video title "Cleaning a 9v Makita Drill"
I dare to say that you are the best RUclips Channel that restore things very well. Good job and you have my deepest respect.
I am so glad to see your comment. thank you!

The difference between your old videos and the new one is remarkable. This new videos are relaxing and pleasant. You made a big change by making your videos slower and adding better sound.
Fantastic job. I'm not even mechanically inclined, but I find your videos very relaxing
Thank you!
This is also my opinion ! Congratulations !
interesting points ,if anyone else needs to find out about lead acid battery reconditioning guide try t.co/YpdloYO92F ? Ive heard some decent things about it and my partner got cool results with it.?
Getting that bridge connector and replacing all of the batteries really stepped up you're game!
Thank you!

I'm so glad to see your comment.
tools in general are a man's best friend ... Very good job 😁🤝
Thank you!
Really great job! I don’t imagine many people have a welder to attach those battery bridges in their shop.
Thank you!

I really wish I could restore things. But because of my fibromyalgia I can't grip anything for too long without my hands cramping up and hurting really bad. Thanks for the great vids and letting me live the restoration life vicariously.
You're welcome, I wish you get batter.
wow, that machine has had it rough! my 7,2v drivers don‘t look that bad and they‘re much older and have seen lots of work. a lot of work to restore it, great job!
Awesome! Thank you for taking the time to do the restoration, record your work and post the video. You have inspired me to clean up my seldom used
tools.
You're welcome, I am glad that this video inspired you.
I really like that you are restoring the battery packs as well. This is my favorite restoration show on RUclips. Keep up the great work.
Thank you, I am glad that this video make you happy.
Very good job
Thank you!
Bravo. Now you're still for the next 17 years.

¡Gracias!
Hi Gear Show 👋👋👋awesome restoration drill 👍👍👍💣👌🏽✌🏻
Hi Кошмар Кошмар 👋👋👋thank you!
principle is the same with most cordless drills, although some battery packs have highly complex circuitry built into them, if this goes haywire, you'll have a big job on your hands unless of course you can find a replacement battery pack where this isn't an issue.
Very well presented video showing how this is taken apart and put back together again, you don't need the welder to do this, but it saves a lot of time
For anyone wanting an amazing tool I would highly recommend GenScrew's electric screwdriver kit. It is an actual godsend: genscrew.com/kit
Great Video! This charger deserves a deep cleaning also.
Nice work. As usual. That machine for the spot welds of the battery was very cool too.👏👏👏
Yes, thank you!
If a chuck gets stuck like that, take a piece of round metal that's the size of the open jaws and insert it, then wiggle it around with decent force. If the jaws are closed and stuck, then take a hammer and tap them gently but with enough force to dislodge them. What happens is that rust/debris gets stuck on the first set of teeth on the jaws, and stops the rotator ring from being able to move.
Thank you so much for sharing this technique 👍
I wish i could send my tools to you and bring them back to life. Always a satisfying feeling whenever i watch your videos.🤗
You should protect your hands :)
Yes, you're right. Thank you!
You are going good ...
God bless you
Excellent!
Remplacing with ni mh batteries for similar capacity of li ion battery high amps. is better. and keep using original battery charger for nimh (nicd is obsolete no for use actually).
Oh that will be good if like that, thank you so much for sharing👍
Happy to see this excellent video.
Many thanks
Very very good jab and you're very great man 💓💓💓💓
I have a Makita that’s even older than that one. I quit using it becausd the batteries are hard to get and are expensive. I still have it though.
Awesome work. I bet you could fix my 40 year old shimano spinning reel.
Good job !!!!!!!
bonjours à vous

Nice! Thank you for replacing all batteries. I was hoping you would not reuse. They never work for long....
I like that little spot welder you have. I'd love to have one.
Really very very nice job!!!!
Thank you!
Well done sir! Not any wobble in the chuck at all... wow!! Its a pity that the modern 18 volt made in China Makita drill drivers have a major chuck wobble. Thanks for sharing!🤝
You're welcome, thank you!
this time it was really hard. good job bro 👍🏻
Yes, it is, thank you!
Yeeeesss super nice
Amazing to watch this.
excellent work....interesting spot welder
wow very nice
Many many thanks
How do you know the location of each degree of torque after opening the drill head, meaning the location of the initial degree of torque is correct or not
Good job man!!!Keep up the good work!!!
as always; great job!
Thank you!
Você é o Cara !
Obrigada!
Despite being so old, that Makita is probably better than most "homeowner's" power tools. The motor brush is replaceable, and the tool just looks higher quality.
Makita.
Would like to see some folks convert these to lithium. Well made tools, but sadly obsolete now. Batteries are everything in cordless tools, and these would be great again with individual 18650s and a pack that opens.
I will do it for the next project. thank you for the suggestions.
@@gear_show Very cool, I'm excited to see it. Great work and I look forward to it!
Awesome! Wonder work
Nice work!! I've even seen those batteries still sold at home Depot. But you had the tools and went the extra mile. 😁
The audio is amazing
👏👏👏listo para el uso.
Yes, 👏👏👏
Amazing content as usual. Please keep up the videos.👍
Thank you :)
Good job!
Thank you!
You are best of the best!!!

Very good!!!!!
Good job recondition men👏👌👍🤩😍
My 9.6 Makita looks a lot different than that one. It has a long battery pack.
So do both of mine. Salvage!
Tjanks fo your ide..
Terimakasih banyak
And why is the kixx grease so satisfying with the little hole for the brush.
Ficou top ,ótimo trabalho.
Thank you!
👌 👌 perfect
hello,
i'm looking for a good rolling extractor or you buy what you use
Excellent
NIMH is a big upgrade for these I wouldn't have bothered with the Nicd cells
Woww another Makita resto..great gear Show😂👍🇲🇾
Yes, thank you :)
nice job. but why you not open chuck?
Home Depot here in the US still sells batteries for that Makita. :)
Nice to hear that, US is awesome place 👍next project I will replace this battery with Lithium battery.
They are an outrageous price. I am replacing all mine with Corded drills.
I'm guessing Lithium Ion battery upgrade is not feasible for this one?
great restoration job!
Glad you like it!
WHAT'S THE NAME OF THE WELDING MACHINE USED IN THIS VIDEO ?
Buen video y buenas ideas para reparar
What is the function of eight iron balls in it. Till that time, I think it is for slipping when nut is screwed/tightened fully. Is it right or other function?
If only I could buy those cells from you. Unavailable in Canada and I have never seen a spot welder like that for sale here. I have 8 battery powered Makita drills/saw that are going to Salvage.
Makita office in Whitby Canada is of no help.
I bought all parts from China store.
thanks for showing your test im at 2:47 and the motor ran i thought it was a goner
Great job...do you have a huge drill collection?
awesome
Hello friend, what white powder do you use to clean?
Why do you decided to use NiCd instead of Lithium as your other videos?
Can water make rust again if you put hot water soap powder
Bravo👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
This restoration looks like asmr videos xd
So do you like this video or not?
@@gear_showyes,he is pretty good💪
This is my asmr!
Exelente trabajo. Muy buena restauración. Felicidades!

Thank you!
What brand of washing powder do you use?
You can use any washing powder.
Jonathan Gibson : oxalic acid is better, it dissolves rust and cleans stronger.
Thật tuyệt, hãy tiếp tục serie này
I\'m not sure but ,if anyone else wants to uncover how to recondition old batteries at home try t.co/uUSuy6Yk5g ? Ive heard some decent things about it and my mate got excellent results with it.

¡Gracias! Aprenderé a hacerlo la próxima vez.
