  • 17 year old cordless drill. I think this drill is made in year 2003. The battery is not working anymore, I replace new cells with old battery case. The gearbox is dry with dust inside, I disassembled the gearbox, cleaned every parts, and put it back with new grease. I bought this drill from Japan recycle shop 12$. Nicd battery cells 8*0.6$ = 4.8$.
I hope this video help you know more about cordless drill, you can repair it by yourself.
I am happy to receive your feedback, advice, suggestions to improve myself.
!!! I apologize for the mistake if I have made in this restoration !!!
**I still keep some parts, I want to save the world's environment**
--------------Thank you so much for Likes & Comments--------------

Making use of the ruclips.net/user/postUgkxcJ22tnHH9l1vjdIdEIG27iOG55P7LXI8 reconditioning plan, I just saved 2 auto batteries from being completely junked. The guides were very simple to follow. I wish I would have found this years ago! You may use the guide to recondition any battery type

principle is the same with most cordless drills, although some battery packs have highly complex circuitry built into them, if this goes haywire, you'll have a big job on your hands unless of course you can find a replacement battery pack where this isn't an issue.
Very well presented video showing how this is taken apart and put back together again, you don't need the welder to do this, but it saves a lot of time

If a chuck gets stuck like that, take a piece of round metal that's the size of the open jaws and insert it, then wiggle it around with decent force. If the jaws are closed and stuck, then take a hammer and tap them gently but with enough force to dislodge them. What happens is that rust/debris gets stuck on the first set of teeth on the jaws, and stops the rotator ring from being able to move.
