Rika's mother died suddenly when she was five from unknown causes.
Two days before Rika went to elementary school, Rika and her father got lost while mountain climbing. A week later Rika was found alone and rescued by a shelter near the summit.
While at the hospital she met Yuta who was being treated for pneumonia.
Her father was never found and his death was never confirmed.
Aware of how her appearance is perceived, Rika sometimes manipulates adults.
Rika's grandmother from her father's side took her in. She strongly believed Rika killed both her parents.
Rika stole the ring she gave to Yuta from her grandmother's dresser. It was her mother's wedding ring.
When she was human, Rika was very friendly with Yuta's younger sister. However, after becoming a vengeful curse, she became aggressive, which is why Yuta distanced himself from his family.
She dislikes everyone besides Yuta- especially girls and older guys.
The thing she dislikes the most in the world is her grandmother's stewed eggplant.
She loves Yuta.

@@JonDejour She has a similar backstory of a Junji Ito character she's based on. Rika is based on Tomie (a collection of oneshots that eventually branched into a multivolume anthology and a bunch of love action movies) Basically every dark bit of her childhood was pulled from the different Tomie one shots (the common thread in Tomie is at some point she was a human girl who became a cataclysmic level curse after she was murdered - sounds familiar right? 😎)
JJK 0 has a ton of references to Junji Ito (Uzumaki is literally just a recreation of the most famous panel from that manga) and Evangelion. Gojo's students are based on the Evangelion pilots. Yuta is obviously Shinji (so much so that they straight up used Shinji's VA for the anime 🤣), Inumaki is Kaworu (he was supposed to have the same eye and hair color, but Mappa changed it and his haircut because his original design looked too much like mini red eyed Gojo) and Maki is a blend of Asuka, Rei, and Mari (she has Mari's looks, Asuka's personality, and she'll eventually get Rei's haircut but for now Mai and their Heavenly Restrictions and their treatment as servants/failures are the elements that were borrowed from Rei)
Panda is a nod to Pen Pen (black and white animal sidekick that no one bothers to explain why they're around and not in a zoo - that everyone who'd know glosses over Panda's presence is a gag making fun of that happening CONSTANTLY with a free roaming penguin in Evangelion)
I bet someone else beat me to it, but the culprit of the car accident that killed Rika? It was Tadashi, the prisoner in the juvenile prison that was killed and Megumi brought the nametag. If you pause when Megumi was showing his research on the prisoners, Rika's listed as his victim. It is the reason why his mom said she was the only one who would mourn him, he killed a little girl.

If your confused about if Yuta keeps his powers, he does. Yuta lifted the curse he placed on the “person” Rika. But the manifestation of her love for Yuta the CURSE Rika remains (also some of the questionable things in her jjk character profile may have added to her immense power)

Yuta has lot of nicknames for due to his popularity amongst og jjk fans, especially in Japan. such as real mc, prince, mr. pure love and etc. but in Korea, we call him “economical special grade” due to the huge success of the movie despite of not featuring main characters of the main show😂

Quick explanation to the ending scene: Gojo decided to make yuta train under Miguel (the black guy with the glasses that got beat up by gojo) for some time in africa, since now that geto's dead, there's nothing for Miguel to do. That's also why we didn't see Yuta during season 1.
Through out the entirety of season one, Yuta is in africa training with Miguel ( the black dude with the sun glasses ) and in the end credits scene they show a small snippet of what yuta was doing while Yuji was becoming a sorcerer back in Japan
Haven’t finished the video I have some answers, this is 1year before season 1 and rika never really disconnects from him, also when she comes out like that it’s like her being fully manifested because of the ring being on. And fun fact, rika (allegedly) killed her parents on a hiking trip.
The flick hand motion was hollow purple.the healing thing he was doing was reverse cursed technique, it gets explained in season 2 which I’m assuming you’ve seen a little of but just in case, it’s multiplying cursed energy (negative energy) against itself to make positive energy. It’s very rare for people to do and even more rare for people to be able to do it outside of their bodies. Also yutas cursed technique is copy that’s how he used cursed speech.
And another thing, movies do tend to have better animation than shows. Typically for anime budget has little to do with the quality because they tend to have similar budgets, it’s more the animators talent and the time they’re given to do their work. For movies though it is the budget. (Sorry for writing a whole essay here)
Another thing I’m just going to put in the replies instead, idk if you realized but every time the red and black sparks show that’s a black flash, so they just showed nanamis four black flash record that yuji matched in season 1.
And gojo did kill Geto at the end yes.

ok, so, this will be kinda unrelated to the movie bc i didnt know you watched jjk until i subscribed lol, so i'll just explain like one quick thing ig (i would've 100% subscribed sooner if i had known you earlier lol)
I'm pretty sure you know the basis of cursed energy and techniques, so i'll skip that-
but i'm mostly gonna explain one of the more complicated techniques: gojo's Limitless.
Limitless is the name of the technique, while gojo has another ability called the Six Eyes (the six eyes are NOT a cursed technique, but similar to one). The Six Eyes is basically an abilty that allows him to have a far greater sense of sight than any others. He can see perfectly while he's up in space lmao (not really, but still-), and can basically see to an atomic level. This is why he covers his eyes, so it doesnt overstimulate the brain.
The Six Eyes also allows Gojo to not have his cursed energy reducted when he uses it. Everytime a technique is used or a domain, cursed energy is used, and sorcerers can get exhausted becuase of no cursed energy. But the Six Eyes basically take such a low amount of cursed energy when using it, that it's basically 0.
Now, for the actual Limitless:
His Infinity is the neutral state of it, where he creates an infinite amount of space between him and whatever is attacking. The threat keeps the same speed, force, mass, ect., but since it's traveling through an infinite amout of space, it is basically just slowing down more and more as it tries to reach Gojo. In the end, it never touches him.
Blue is the negative state of Limitless, where he pours cursed energy in it *(cursed energy is negative energy)*. This _removes_ a part of space, and since the universe is always trying to reach equilibrium, the universe itself sucks itself in the removed space, filling that spot in. Because of that, it's basically a move where it sucks in opponents, like a black hole but not that more dangerous. think of it as pull/attract
Red is the positive state of Limitless. (To gain positive energy, you have to preform reverse cursed technique, which is to multiply cursed energy by itself. this can also heal people, and a VERY rare thing for most sorcerers.) This _adds_ space, which essentially is just an explosion lol- Think of this as push/repel.
Hollow Purple is the imaginary mass, where the amplified and the reversal are smashed together. I'm not too sure myself on how it works, but the end result is essentially just an eraser lol-
and gojo's domain, infinite void, constantly fill's the target's brain with information. since the overwhelming info is flooding their brain, it basically fries it, and leaves them stunned.

pretty sure yuta was supposed to be the main character and yuji was supposed to die off... ngl i feel like the aurther shouldve stuck to this instead of listening to the fans cuz its a mess rn with the manga etc
My guess is he probably thought Yuta already completing his character development and then being an mc of long running shonen series is unfitting, because he did mentioned Yuta was already too powerful to be a mc and direction of creating the main trio were being more fitting to traditional shonen manga.
That was never the plan, fan input had no influence in who the protagonist ended up being. Yuta was only the MC of Volume 0 back when it was written as a one-shot. His story here kinda got told so it makes sense to pivot to a new protagonist in the series proper (fun fact the protagonist was actually planned to be Megumi at first but that didn't pan out).
Honestly man, I don't think anyone here would think of you differently if you did allow yourself to cry. Sometimes you gotta just feel it, and that makes the emotional connection to the show just that much stronger to me! I remember the first time I cried over an anime was when Jiraiya died, felt like I lost my grandpa all over again.
The movie is always a joy to watch
