I call him Gerry Fleapicker Enoch because he got named by different people. It's not that unusual for a male to care for a younger kids. If I was more cynical than I'm all ready am I would remind you that he was part of the reason Charlotte died but I would never ever blame him for it. He's a monkey living by their rules and their ways of doing things we don't and if some of us did we would be called crazy, psychopath etcetera. 🤓🇸🇪
It's so endearing to see males being sweet to the little ones, isn't it?! JW has a couple of videos specifically focusing on this dynamic. He also films the monks in Hong Kong and his vids are really good but he's kind of sporadic on posting them. If you want to find his channel just search for "JW monkeys" because it can be hard to find his channel otherwise (lots of JW channels apparently). I think I have the male/kids videos saved and if you're interested just let me know and I'll find the titles for you.

The feeders waited 6 hours for a monkey to take her but none did. The people looked after her for about 2 weeks, then re-introduced her. Mum wouldn't take her. Eyeshadow did I think but then she ended up with young male who wouldn't let her go, she probably starved but also hit her head I think. The people got her back 1-2 weeks later, but it was too late and Charlotte died shortly after.
9:13 very interesting to see a macaque uncle tending to the little ones. I haven’t seen many adult males have much of anything to do with their own offspring, much less someone else’s but maybe that’s because I don’t usually watch the content from this location.

The long-tailed macaque (a.k.a. LTM, a.k.a. Crab-eating macaque) is a very different type of macaque altogether from the Rhesus monkeys that are filmed here.

I've been searching thru videos because I forgot to comment on this the time I first saw it. It's incredible but the two females at 24:32 one look like a version of Tina with just a slightly different left eye and the second female look like an older version of Teeny. 🤓🇸🇪
