- Dr. Cornel West, the author, activist, philosopher, public intellectual, and civil rights leader, came to Wake Forest University on December 1, 2022. The Program for Leadership and Character invited him to take part in a moderated discussion about character and education.
Dr. West’s talk kicked off “Educating Character Across the University,” a conference for educators and administrators from colleges and universities across the nation and the world.

He has been my moral compass for 2 decades, but I have fear for humanity if Elon Musk tweets or Jordan Peterson's jibberish are more relevant in public sphere! I also blame large chunk of leftists,who sold them selves & other are fighting over popularity! Cornel West is very profound thinker. He’s always on the right side of history. As a Black man in America he sees all the contradictions that we face in life. He’s spot on in his analysis of the materialism we’ve all become prisoner!
If he is on the right side of history, why won't he make public his plans to repy his back taxes and back child support? Some side of history---very strange!
Kafka is about where this nation is about to go to, Dante, sees the rest of the picture, Orwell presents but one bleak outcome, but the music that brought all of this together, is being connected again with our collective unconscious, and artists are beginning to tease out and wheedle out all of the newer positive potential, by wrestling with those subjects

I could not see any chance of leadership or real achievements when I heard Brother West would perhaps carry anything from Dr Martin Luther King Jr.. There is nobody ever capable to compare with King Jr.. Just nobody!

How does what West preaches translate to the everyday person? Where is it reflected in the interaction between everyday Black people and Black politicians and activist? This is an important question, as in the mist of all these idelaistic/loving talk, the violence rate among Black people, stays constant or is rising? Jeesie Jackson decades ago asked "what does it matter that the doors of opportunity are opened to you, if you are too drunk to stagger through them"? Black activist especially and some politicians, seem unwilling to ask much of Black people. Al Sharpton however seems to be breaking away from this mold, based on the last two times I've listened to his radio broadcast. He has addressed with concern, the issue of vioence among us. I don't know what took him so long, but now is of course, better than never. Now, how do we get others, to come to have the same concern, and begin to work on solutions to it? I don't know what West will say, but leadership in this area, is surely needed.

Cornel West is brilliant. He is right about almost everything. However, he is totally wrong that Sarah Vaughan was the "greatest musical artist of the 20th century". Sarah Vaughan was a great vocalist, but FAR from the greatest musical artist of the 20th century. How did West even come to that conclusion ? I think Sarah Vaughan would profoundly disagree
