Just discovered Kimbra after hearing Sam Robson doing a cover of her "Withdraw", which is fabulous. Kimbra truly is a fascinating singer/artist. I think of all the singers I have heard, she comes closest to Teena Marie in style, talent and just sheer musical ability.

I see a student of Imogen Heap. But if that's an assessment, it isn't a criticism. I think Kimbra is an avid admirer of Imogen, but not without her own inate talent...which she works very hard to stretch and to explore new paths to creating architecture for a song.
Her live mixing is definitely reminiscent of Imogen! I agree, she is truly an innovator in a genre that has remained largely the same over the past decade.
