- An interview with Jolie that will be posted later in the month. In it, she is expected to discuss how her visit to Cambodia was a life-changing experience, awakening her to the plight of Third World countries. She adopted her eldest son, Maddox, from Cambodia and she and Brad Pitt established the Maddox Jolie-Pitt Foundation, which is active in community development and conservation in the country.
She's barefoot, wearing her own clothes, less makeup and toting her own elegantly weathered monogrammed Alto bag. Yet Angelina Jolie looks radiant and completely in her element, reclining on a wooden boat in a verdant, lakeside landscape in Cambodia's Siem Reap province. Jolie discovered the country in 2000 when she filmed "Lara Croft: Tomb Raider," and it sparked her humanitarian activism.
She's the latest celebrity to pose for Louis Vuitton's popular "Core Values" campaign - and surely the only one who brought four children to the photo shoot, some of whom had to be shooed out of Annie Leibovitz's frame.
Core Values celebrates Vuitton's timeless classics in real situations on 'real' people - meaning celebrities rather than models - and runs alongside their seasonal 'fashion' campaigns.
The campaign is expected to run for at least 18 months and will also feature a video interview with Jolie filmed on location later in the month.

I really admire what she said about Cambodia people, "They are some of the most sweet-natured people you'll ever meet in your life. You can't imagine how they can be so at peace and so kind and so open with what they've gone through". It's so true because we had everything. Cambodia was a really small peaceful country if you look back it. But then Pol Pot flipped the table. Millions of Cambodia people were killed, buildings, factories, money were all destroyed during Khmer Rouge. We got nothing after that but we still continue to live our lives and started over again.
It's hard to continue daily life in Cambodia knowing there is a prime minister who is manipulated by Vietnam and making us weak towards the surrounding countries who want our land.

That is what you called colonialism and "Paid puppet Ruler" killing it's own people, divide to rule and divide to conquer. No land was been so heavily bombarded that Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam. Why? Because they stood plain and fought invaders, they try everything but this people don't give up and they returning them against each others. The same thing they do in South Anericas and many richest land. You might thought those places had nothing, no The Dongsun and Dayaks are The Siberians tribes of South Asia they have ruled many Kingdoms from China to Singapore to Javanese Kingdoms from Bali Malaysia to Thailand, those kingdoms in Angkor What and Vietnam, Laos conquerred by some Indians before it was them prisperous Kingdoms, warriors and greatest explorers and navigators, those Siberians have been in South Asia ffrom 15000years ago, they exchanged trade with The Jomon on Korea/Japan and The Yayoi. They even trade till Africa, navigating till the Pacifics. Actually Amazonians are also like South East Asians Dayaks/Dongsun tribes. The irony about Angelina Jolie loving Cambodia and living in long house while She is an American, if only she knew even Indochina are mixed with Indians and Chinese there are still indigenous etchic group there as Siberians like tonpractice edogamy. Still if only she knew Those are same people of the same ancestors/ in Americas Southern parts that their ancestors have tried to genocided over there and in South of Asia. Amazonians and nany native Americans in the South live in the exact long house as Cambodians Haha😁 She can see that in her own country too, by travelling to Colombia, Argentina, Puerto Rico, Brazil meet the indigenous they live the same house and they look the same. Even those Cambodians, Viet, Laos, Thai have lost so much of their culture from Indians Religion, their ancestors and Oldest heritage are from the Native Bornéo/Taiwanese

When she talked about how nice and sincere the locals are, my first reaction would normally be "of course they're nice to you, you're a celebrity! Everyone's nice to you!". But I have travelled to Cambodia myself and I totally agree. The locals go through hardship but they don't fail to smile and treat you with respect and friendliness. The thing that pissed me off were actually some of the tourists who treated the locals like slaves.

I am Cambodian, before the Vietnam War had started my grandparents and father immigrated through the deadly mine fields and safely got on a boat shipping overseas into America. I must say my LIFE is truly blessed. They've inspired me to continue my life with a passion. Music and dance is my life, my initial goal is to spread it globally. Normal people would be making this utterly disgusted face but she instead carried it out in a breeze, and actually understands that there's culture and living circumstances affecting what kinda food people have access to, and she respects that. I admire Jolie. I appreciate the artistic concept of this video / 'documentary.' I appreciate quality products like genuine leather... but I don't always blindly support brand names and labels. I'd like to know more about the relationship between Jolie-LV-and-Cambodia.
What is the relationship between LV and Cambodia? I know Jolie is the channel or medium of 'voicing' Cambodians and their cultures, exposing Cambodian culture to the world (thank you, Jolie and LV for that)... however, we cannot argue that the 'portraits' and clips of the Cambodian people in this video truly 'voices' the people. Their voices were muted, replaced with music, script, and other choreography. There is a level of authenticity in this video I believe (or would like to believe) comes from Jolie's heart -- the person who has supported the people of this little known land. However, I question: Did LV compensate the Khmer people who participated in this promotional documentary? How did LV enrich the lives of the Khmer villagers if they did? Or did LV simply exploit the beautiful contrast between life's 'simple pleasures' like sunsets, etc. that Jolie talks about in her narrative about this 'journey.' Of course, anything that does not remind one of poverty becomes the most evident and most beautiful thing in life... and then we see Jolie posing with an LV. LV -- I like the quality of your product and I think you've discovered the starting chapter of a truly amazing story... but I think you need to do more.
Well the relationship between Jolie and Cambodia is the fact that Jolie is a Cambodian citizen and she is proud of that. I can't say much about LV LMAO!
Well, the only meaning or relationship I can see between Cambodia and LV is that maybe Jolie used the money she got from the commercial to help the poor people of Cambodia. Honestly, other than that what it could be? LV represents an industry of power and money. Instead, Cambodia is a country where the majority of its people is living in poverty.

I want to thank you for sharing this video which I believe will help raise awareness about genocide and poverty. As one of the survivors, I was always ashamed because I feel that no one will ever understand of what went on under Khmer Rouge regime. There're really no words that can describe the feelings unless you've gone through it yourself. I wish no one should ever go through it. Thank you for putting Cambodia on the map and for giving us strength & hope. Please keep up with your great work.

There's something that feels very wrong about this "Louis Vuitton" commercial. Most of it is good until Angelina Jolie is lying in the boat with a "Louis Vuitton" bag slung over her shoulder. It's hard not to notice the paradox of a purse that costs several hundred dollars to own, that only a small segment of the world's population can afford to buy, juxtaposed with scenes of Cambodia, where the majority of the population lives on around $5 a day. Actually, I'm surprised that Angelina Jolie agreed to make this commercial.
But then she donated all of the proceeds to humanitarian services.

I am on here using my cousins account but I am so glad she did this! I am Cambodian but born in America. Although a lot of my older cousins and all of our parents were born there and had to live through a lot of the hardships in Cambodia. My uncle ( the father of this account holder) even fought in the khmer rouge and he is even in the book Cambodia. Love this!
