I believe you can stop the names from shortening by disabling the setting that, "enables streamer mode when OBS is open" It's just a privacy setting for streamers but it'll still hide the usernames if the app is used for recordings as well.

I figured this out recently. When you have both discord and OBS open at the same time, discord goes into streamer mode. It mutes all notifications, adds an annoying popup at the top of your screen, and it abbreviates names (probably for privacy reasons).
