Great run through, I played this scenario yesterday (first learning game, ever) and got a few rules wrong, and died due to running out of endurance. So virtually no spoilers for me from this watch. I mistakenly reduced endurance every time I took a distress (lol). Your rule following was very helpful. I didn’t get a structure node until the 2 mid-columns of the map. Can’t wait for my next run.
Thanks for the playthrough! One thing I noticed though is I think in Round 7 you took an action to analyze data and picked up data on a node with the player character (Sophie, I think). Only Luna can analyze data and the node Luna was on did not have any data on it. So, without that data you wouldn't have been able to use the tractor beam to have Luna pull Sophie to the ship. I don't think it would change the outcome since you had plenty of endurance left to get Sophie to the ship on her next turn anyway.
@@OneStopCoopShop Yes, it's one of those rules that can be easily overlooked in the midst of the game. Similarly, Luna cannot gather materials. Only players can gather materials. That didn't happen in the playthrough, just commenting on it in case anyone happens to be confused about it or possibly missed that one as well.
I’m so grateful for this play through! We have played twice and failed both times but we were misunderstanding some of the rules/mechanics. I am excited to try again now with the notes I took watching this video! Thank you for sharing!
Just played this game and have to say it is excellent, the best part is the text we read for things, makes the experience so much more enjoyable and affecting. Your vido was great, watching you play helped me realize the base mechanics were simple to learn, hard to master. Thanks!
Fantastic playthrough. Thanks! Playing this scenario tonight... I just watched a few turns to make sure I understood the rules right. I'll have to finish your video after out game to see how we did!
@@OneStopCoopShop OK, we made it through... kind of. We were discovering the nuances of the rules as we played through. Didn't do everything properly throughout the entire first round. @@newguy2878 I'm not sure what type of games that I like. It seems like the most important thing is what I can convince other people to play with me. I might have to unsubscribe from the one stop coop shop. I promised myself not to buy more games for a while (no more space on the shelf, not enough time to play anyway) and then first Mike makes me want to play valor&vilainy and now you show me this.... I love the humor, had to laugh out loud at the tiny tentacles. Thank you for this beautiful and engaging playthrough.
HAHA Valor is another great one! And I think one of the selling factors to me of this game IS the humor and writing, I can hear the designers in it and it makes me laugh every time. Gotta love it! Thanks so much for watching Sandra, and we understand if you need a break from the channel HAHA!
Two years late but I think first turn has a mistake. Fungus "places" you to an adjacent, it does not move you. So you would not generate a spore which is generated by moving. Also you would not get edge effects if you were placed into a location.
Found my way here after watching your last podcast with games of the year. Seems like this is the game I wanted ISS Vanguard to be. Missed out on this but there's a reprint coming next month probably Orange Nebula said. But I did sign up for their newsletter if they get more in after fulfillment is over.
Sooo helpful to watch after making it through the rulebook. Great video! One question, in what instances would you want to go for a second copy of a specific comprehension? Are there ever prerequisites with multiples, or is it sometimes that you prefer another of a specific type of breakthrough?
Awesome play through! I’m anxiously awaiting the reprint. This game looks so cool! Have you continued to play a year on? Have you attempted any other planets?
This game looks fantastic. What comes in the box? All figures? Are planets sold separately? What else should I know before purchasing...when it becomes available?
Many thanks Colin, enjoyed the playthrough. Thought this looked like a really cool game when Markus played it. Sadly I don't think I will get it because it will need the expansions imho. So I'm totally not jealous of people who do get all that shiny xenomorphic sticky goodness! And who doesn't love Luna, the cutest most helpful bot ever! lol
Thanks for watching Paul! While I agree the planets will provide more replayability, the base of the game is still pretty great. Worth at least 10+ plays. Then the new planets only cost 15 bucks I think? I personally love this! Just need the game to finally deliver in the US to make this happen. Thanks so much for watching!
@@pencilpauli9442don’t forget, each planet (2 in the box) has 3 scenarios each playable at least twice plus you can increase the difficulty and play a 3rd time or more. So that could be say 4 plays times 3 scenarios times 2 planets = 24 plays, and if you do them on rotation you’ll be familiar but not remember everything. Plus the anomaly cards and breakthrough cards are drawn randomly, so will vary each game a bit too.
Great video. On that final turn, Discharge Hormonal Blast action, seems like it could have pulled both Explorers, because that's what a standard Traverse action does, right? No tractor beam needed. Also, have you ever played this scenario with 4? I seems a lot easier with 2.
@@OneStopCoopShop thanks for giving me a little bit of hope but Grakkis A felt even more punishing than Wenora A. It feels like a lot of luck with regard to node placement, anomalies, and breakthrough draws.
I have already played 7 times now, ranging from 1 player to 4 player. Sweet spot seems to be solo to 2 player. 3 and 4 player work and actually work well once the game gets going but it is slower at the beginning as players do not have the breakthrough cards. It also lends itself to alpha gamer hard since all information is open. With that being said, this one is a HUGE hit at the Degnan household, and will not be going anywhere anytime soon!
@@OneStopCoopShop thank you. After you play the three scenarios per planet, do you find the game to be still replayble with those same scenarios after? I just discovered this game due to your video. Thank you for the playthrough.
Book keeping? Not much in my experience (at least not in my definition of book keeping). Things tend to flow from turn to turn very smoothly, though it does depend somewhat on the planet you are playing.
An excellent playthrough. Those minis are stunners too. Basically, I love everything about this vid.
