Love that first step...it's one I share with my clients. Get to your why - the Ultimate Concern - and then everything in life follows, with that sustained commitment you mentioned. Thanks for this video Brian!
Ultimate Concern - Purpose is the ultimate concern. Why do we do what we do? Connect to something deeper that we extend over a long period of time. You can be purposeful or you can be ...... Disengaged and not concerned with anything beyond our own enjoyment. Not interested in doing anything noble. Dreamer - The have a vision but they are not taking steps to put this into a practical reality. Dabbler - Jumps from thing from thing to thing. Chasing shiny objects. The number one thing standing in our way of being purposeful is SHORT HORIZONS. Our culture is obsessed with things that a very short time to make a reality - months, days and weeks. Two problems - the speed at which is being portrayed how long it takes to become a thing as well as the type of things we are aspiring too - external (fame, wealth and hotness) We are constantly being shown people we can envy and they make it seem like it happened to them overnight. To better help parent (bring forth) in our kids look for the spark in our kids. Every child has a spark(s) - something they have a passion for and then fan the flames. -Share your own passions about what you do...what excites you about it because when you do it the other way (complain all the time) it appears that you only go to work to earn money. -Don't lecture but share in context - micro occasions - share practical wisdom Entrepreneurial spirit - the ability to set goals and create realistic plans to achieve them. Persist in the face of obstacles and willingness to take healthy risks. You can do it. Adopt this mantra. You Can Do It! Create a sense of efficacy (the ability to produce a desired or intended result) Great job on getting that toilet flapper replaced. Thanks, Brian Keep Pushing
love the interview with ryan holiday , can you tell me what is Freudian psychology and what is the difference between Freudian and quolical psychology(I heard ryan say quolical psychology ,I may be wrong ) ?............path to purpose is also superb
Let me get this out of the way-speed is over-rated. To me, the dreamer is the underachiever-he talks the talk, but remains in exactly the same place. The dabbler pretty much scatters his energy resourses and lacks focus. the person who has purpose, with a goal, maintains focus with his eye on the ball has a pretty good chance in getting ahead in his life. Thank you Brian. Brilliant video. Thanks, Helen
Just this morning I said to my college age daughter "you can do it!" Love this video.

Short horizons=instant gratification, which is what the media brain washes this generation with. Thank you Brian!
