The Maids performing their second most played song, Freedom, (just behind Real Existence) is pure perfection, isn't it? I mean, what can you fault? And those faces... their attitude... their music... their playing... their story... and their joy! Band-Maid is a world treasure! Thanks Joel, for bringing the world's best hard rock band to your friends and viewers!
It's apparently not their most played song according to that big setlist website, although it's in second place (217 plays). Real Existence is beating it on that site (233 plays). I am sure there are some sets missing from it, but the site has 445 Band-Maid sets and Real Existence is an other early song. I was curious as well a little earlier when I watched the video and looked it up back then. I 100% agree that you can see how much they love playing that song, it's understandable why it brings so much joy to the fans as well.
Akane's smile got me back on the kit two years ago at the youthful age of 62, after a decade of not playing, I could never thank her enough, this Band is beyond superb talent and amazing tunes, they genuinely impact on people in the most positive of ways, their charisma is other worldly, what a fcken band Viva the Maids peace and love Po 👍🎼🥁🎸🎤🍻
Thx Joel. I'm glad Snake's been able to witness the awesome BAND-MAID. I hope he starts spreading the word about their existence & bringing them to more peoples attention :)
Fantastic track, fantastic band. The holy trinity for me are BAND-MAID, Nemophila and Lovebites. Love how you have opened Snake's eyes to the talent of bands (specially all female ones) coming out of japan. I think BAND-MAID are steadily working towords their goal of world domination, and I am hoping for he same success for Nemophila and Lovebites. Nemophila have just started a tour of America. Unfortunetly no sign of a Europe\UK tour from any of them
This is one of their earlier tracks that was still written for them, so it's a bit more simple than most of their newer tracks. That said, it's still a track they play a lot live and a fan favourite. I like it a lot as well and this live version is great.
I saw Skid Row as a warm-up act for ZZTop in 1986. A great show and what an experience it must have been to have been on tour with that Little Ole Band From Texas.
Joel, as a fan of all these bands, let me just say that I really appreciate the effort you're putting in to share and promote these bands to people in the music industry. Some of these people you've been sharing these with could be potentially instrumental in getting these bands to come to the States (if they haven't already, such as Lovebites) or in opening up more touring opportunities for the bands that have already made it here (Band-Maid, Nemophila, The Warning, etc.) I am going to text Midori from Lovebites to alert her to your page, and hopefully at some point she may drop a comment! Absolutely love what you're doing!
I am SUPER LOVING this artist series you have going. Amazing to see artists I loved as a kid now rocking out to my current favorite groups. Skid Row was the sound track to my senior year in high school. Band Maid is pretty much 90% of my current musical existence.
They are so good live! Can't wait to see them again in May! 🙂 I'm kinda the same. I bug my friends, co-workers, customers & random strangers bout Band Maid 😳 Cept I don't film it. 😏
Huge thanks for all you're doing here, guys. I hope you get the chance to watch and show your famous friends something that shows their current style and level of songwriting, like "From Now On" or "Hate?"
Skid Row was the first live band I saw way back in the day for me when the opened for Bon Jovi. Great memories. So glad to see him discovering these bands.

So next time or if his is reading these...check out Dark Chest of Wonders the opener from Wacken 2013. You will never be the same
It's not "talent" it's talent plus 50,000hrs of practice and study, as I saw someone pointing out today. Their work ethic is amazing. This song, not being composed by kanami, doesn't have her magic touches like powerful slow breakdowns and ingenious links but she learned everything she could about the rock genre obsessively and added it to classical training. Few westerners are up for that. They have "talent" and the industry is expected to provide the rest. It's a failing in our culture maybe. They did the driving in a van doing self booked gigs around Japan thing that a real band did as well.
Indeed; their talent is obvious, but it is their work ethic as well as their dedication to and interaction with their fan base that makes them so inspirational. Most of their songwriting seems to result from a thorough understanding of both "classic" rock as well as classic composition, plus seemingly endless creativity.
@@maidsandmuses also miku is way deeper than she let's on. Her whole life has been way more of a chosen mission than people imagine. She started out teaching classical Japanese classes out of college and the maid cafe job was something she was really inspired to do because she liked the costumes and the whole idea, there's a lot going on and I'm sure she observed humanity a lot all through that. Hence she doesn't need to directly draw on personal relationships for her work. Just as saiki has learned from her "Hate?" is inspired by other people's behaviour to each other that she has observed. They are great artists and miku is a kind of empresario.
This kind of genre of music. With obviously a modern spin on it. Brought to us by these five phenomenally talented beautiful musicians. Is disappearing more and more everyday. Because the powers that be that run the music, recording and entertainment industry. In my home country here of the United States. Realized close to four decades ago. That they could sell the sewage known as rap. To the masses outside the inner cities. Into the suburbs and other locales across this nation. That's when rock hard rock and metal in the US. Started to drop off the radar. The network of record companies and radio stations. Across this once great nation. Feel there's no need and no financial benefit to them. To carry on doing, what they did for so long. In the '60s to the mid to late '80s. And that's to push and promote artist and groups. That at least had some mediocre form of talent or more.
I watched all the videos with Snake on your great channel and have to say... what a great guy! And you Joel, you're great too. I really love to watch your content. Keep on going! Greetings from Switzerland 🤘😎
I have been lucky to see them twice on their US Tour last year and doing Freedom, they sound live exactly as good as the live video, only the sound is more raw, which makes it even better.
