Pro tip if you used too much detergent or you have detergent buildup: use water diluted vinegar (NOT THE FOOD KIND) to remove the 'waxy/sticky' feeling on the fur! Make sure to not use too much and wash it out thoroughly. It doesn't leave the vinegar smell once it dries and your suit is like new again!
This was quite useful! I did not consider the aspect of _cleaning_ when I designed the various features of my fursuit head, so it's going to take some special care like this.
Ive always wanted to be a furry so when im older im gonna become one! Tips for when planning, Draw your fursuit on a tablet first because you know what its gonna look like and at the first time it isnt gonna come out as you want it to be because it takes practice!
Accidentally left a fish sandwich in my carrying bag with my partial in while I was with friends suiting and completely forgot about it, came back to it after I was home and Omg did it stink!!! Thanks for the tutorial, I can clean my bean now
Ooh, water into the foam, that's what I'm worried about here in Canada. It took 3 days to dry out in winter next to a heat fan. Also, you can get water and UV resistant spray to seal eyes with. It's awesome! I'm just not looking forward to my mostly white suit I plan to start later this year. I really need a better way to dry things, especally when cleaning the balaclava inside.
This has helped me so much to understand how to actually clean one without making a massive mess and without little green. I’m hoping to make my first ever foam fursuit head over Christmas, most likely I’ll be wearing it alot over Christmas which is in summer for me and I don’t think anyone would wanna walk into my room and smell a dirty fursuit head.
You’re videos are always a big help, or entertaining. Really glad you’ve made this to help other people. I’ve already known the basics of cleaning, and the detailed features! But you can never know to much, thanks for the help with everything! I appreciate it deeply.
Great tutorial, I use this method for cleaning my heads! Been worrying about the drying process though, I wipe them down with a dry towel after and leave them to air dry by my windowsill. Only thing is I don’t necessarily use a fan, but they dried just within a day.
THIS IS SO HELPFUL!! THANK YOU SKYE!! 💛💙✨ btw, will you be covering how to clean the inside of the head? or do you follow the same method as this video? :)
This fursuit washing tutorial was great! I've been afraid of washing my suits since I've made them myself and they don't exactly come with any washing instructions. Although, I noticed you focused mainly on washing the outside of your head rather than the inside. Should the same process be followed with the inside of the head as well? I know my heads have never been taken outside my house or worn around other people so I don't believe the fur needs washed, but I could be wrong. Anyways, thank you for the tutorial! It was very helpful and I will likely use this in the future when I actually can take my suits outside! Since you are making this into a series, could I possibly request a tutorial to show how newer fursuit makers can create their own washing instructions specific to their heads? I'm not sure where exactly to start and other people may be struggling with the same. This is also something I have not seen anyone else talk about.
Thanks so much for this video! I got a fursuit for the first time ever, someone was selling their old one. I asked them how i should clean it and they seemed too not know, like they never have. He came in and i love him but i can definitely tell he hasn't gotten washed a day in his life! Yuck! I dont have a green machine and im scared to put him in the wash (eyes arnt water proof) so this video was very informative and helpful
Tip: if you want the head got dry much before dry it with the towel and after with a hair dryer that helps too much but you need a lot of time for dry the head
U have convinced me I can make one because I just can’t justify spending so much buying one but I know I might get sick of it half way through and give up 😅
Thanks for the helpful tutorial! I was wondering how I would wash my protgen head if it got dirty, and this really helped! Also just a personal complaint here, I seriously love the British but also country girl vibe you give off. I love it so much lol
This helped me clean my feetpaws, they were so gross and i even found a centipede abdomen in between a toe? I only suit at ren faires and its on a shelf in my fursuit closet so i have no clue how that happened
Thanks ! I dont wanna buy a Little Green to just clean the ears from my fursuit! Mine is a dinomask fursuit without a hood Edit: I wanna make my own actual fursuit head. This is even more useful now
Im going to be making a head of a dinomask. The fur will be anti-pill felt on a balaclava, but the head will be paint sealed with mod podge extra gloss. What could I do to ensure the paint will be safe?
Thank you so much!! I was wanting to know how to do this. Also, could you use this method similarly with hand paws? I need to clean mine, and don't know how.
I think it would be the same. If you don't have airbrushing on your paws then you could do this. Or you could put them in a pillowcase, toss them in the washer, on delicate/low soil, on tap cold or just cold. After they're done washing, squeeze out as much water as you can and lay them on a towel with a fan blowing on them. Brush them out as they dry so the fur doesn't get clumpy and stringy.
Hi! I’m scared to wash mine in the future (currently one side is finished) and the patterns were drawn with sharpie (black) it’s a tan and pink color (light) will it bleed through? One way to find out :,D
Please try this before you wash it and have to completely re fur it Sew patches of the colours you useing together and wash it how you would wash it normally If it bleeds you have to get different fur sadly If it doesnt your good to go!
I steam and brush. I hate to say it, but my head got dusty after a year of not being worn every weekend and maintained for frequent parties, cons and sleepovers. Thank goodness the "rona is over for me now and I can get back to normal furry life.
I wanted to ask if its safe ro wash your suit like this if you have used sharpie earlier in the making of the suit, alot of the base is covered in sharpie and i don't wanna accidentally cause the sharpie to bleed (i made tge suit)
I really apprcate this vid I made my own suit and my suit isnt the best quaillty And im scared that if i wash it like in the bath or washing machine it It could get ruined

My suit is so smelly rn, I haven’t cleaned him in a few months!! Oh god thank youu!
Man, we don't need no STINKY fursuits. Get that boi and make him a clean boi.
All I have is hand and feet paws I make sure they both smell good and the fur is nicely brushed and soft
Lucky. I can’t even afford those.

Would you do a video tutorial about how to make waterproof eyes?
i think waterproof eyes are just printed ones, that you dont paint as the colours r there already
Could be wrong tho
You seal them with Mod Podge. I think that should help.

A CENTIPEDE ABDOMEN WTF 😳 😂
Could you speed up the drying process by using a blowdryer on a low setting plus brushing or would that be a bad idea?
I wouldn’t as heat can warp fur and make it do all sorts of crazy things unless you know what you’re doing

Hi skye! Your almost at 1mil congrats
Your uh missing a few zeroes, try 100,000
I might be able to use this on my fox ear headband
I like clean beans but wouldnt that taste kinda weird?
Does this work for protogens? I don ‘t have a suit yet but I plan to make one in the future, no leds.
I would say so because it is kinda like patch cleaning so the protogen mask wouldnt get wet and brake
Also what would be wrong with using a hairdryer? Would it melt everything with the heat or should it hold as it’s not hot hot
ellooo I wanted to ask if I have to do this wrapping duck tape around mah body if I'll be able to- well.. get a fursuit (?)
also: do you take commissions from people from Europe?
... I just noticed that there's a note under the digitigrade fursuit commission info that actually answers my question..... I'm so lost aaaah
Can you do a fur dye tut like one for when the head is complete but you wanna dye the fur
You must have fur all over your house with all those fursuits you make.
Yes…just yes
When I started making fursuits there was just scraps of fur and foam going all the way downstairs
Im going to be making a head of a dinomask. The fur will be anti-pill felt on a balaclava, but the head will be paint sealed with mod podge extra gloss. What could I do to ensure the paint will be safe?
