- This was set on my sitdown Pole Position cockpit arcade machine. Dips are shown at the end of the video. Played on TwinGalaxies Tournament Settings.
Settings of 8-Toggle Switch on Pole Position II CPU PCB (at 9L for Atari Boards or 9E for Namco Boards)
1 = OFF
2-5 = ON
6 = OFF
7-8 = ON

Brilliant. What I did notice was the engine sound was flat out at either 300mph or 200mph.
Thanks! Once you hit the final turbo speed at around the 2:33 mark the engine pitch won't drop until you get out of turbo. Dropping out of turbo can be caused by a crash, hitting the brake, or dropping below about 180mph. Then you have to run clean up to over 300mph to get into turbo again. If you finish the game in 'turbo' that is what causes your car to explode after the finish (around 3:59)

Could someone explain to me that if this is a race, what are those other cars doing on the track that are in your way and you have to pass?
Whats the difference between this and pole position 1? I noticed a higher score.
Main difference is you go faster. Much faster. Pole 1 Max speed is 244. Pole 2 I've hit 340+mph. The higher speed makes the car more difficult to control, and the enemy cars come at you quicker. Also Pole 1 has a max of 4 laps. The WR settings for Pole 2 require 5 laps.

The ROMs seem to be corrupted some, but at least it's 100% legit functioning, just looks off.

Thanks! Yep, that was the PP2 board that came with the cockpit when I got the game, I hadn't played pp2 for decades when I got it, and didn't even realize a few colors were off for years. When I did see that the title screen should be yellow and the other differences, I sent it out to get the colors corrected. Once I got it back, that's when I set the Suzuka and Seaside records. I've currently got it in my upright cab. Still fun as hell, but nothging beats playing it in the cockpit!

How are you not losing speed during the Grand Prix run?
Once you reach a certain speed around 290 you get into turbo mode. You will only lose it if you downshift, crash, or slow down too much. Turbo makes you speed up faster if you go off course.
Is this turbo mode in the original Pole Position, or is this one of the things added in the sequel?
Also, how do you speed up so quick at the start in this game? I never got how to build up speed like that in Pole Position II compared to the original.
@@CreeperDudeBro Turbo was added in the sequal. Top speed is maxed at 244 on the original version. To get the quick start at the beginning, have the gas floored and the shifter in high (down position) before the race starts. At the beep you will jump off the line, then upshift at 90, then back down at 190. Careful doing it if you're not in the first 2 spots or you'll run into the back of the cars in front of you!
