They are bred and maintained healthily, they are given amazing quality lives. Unfortunately this practice is supported by the south African government because of the revenue it generates and parks/zoos need the money too. But this is morally and ethically wrong and people who take pictures with wild animals for Instagram are to be blamed.
This is called “canned hunting” and it happens in real life. Lions are raised around tourists so they are comfortable with people, and then they are released into a (usually not to big) area to be hunted. They stand no chance.

I think supernatural monsters are worse (real demons or aliens for example). It's those kinds of dirtbags that snuffed out Cecil. That lion never harmed anybody and was living life and then *POP* some reservation exploited the Lion's life for some dentist wanting to wow his buddies.
