Savotta Jaakari SMALL
The small daypack of the Jääkäri family, capacity approximately 20 litres. The Jääkäri S is a highly versatile daypack, well suited for outdoors, travel and everyday use. The slim and compact design combined with low profile shoulder straps offer unhindered movement in cramped spaces and difficult terrain. The PALS attachment webbing offers a lot of options for mounting of additional pouches and gear to the outside of the pack, extending it’s capabilities beyond just a daypack.
Detailed description
The main compartment is closed using an extremely simple lid system: the mouth of the bag folds down over itself when the lid is closed, creating a secure seal. This is a very simple, very bombproof design. A zippered pocket inside the lid offers safe storage for your wallet, keys, travel documents and phone.
The closure system and side compression straps offer some adjustability to the volume of the pack. Strap it down tight or loosen it up depending on the carried load. The Jääkäri S capacity can be adjusted from 20 to 30 litres, depending on how you fold the top lid.
A hydration compartment is attached to the interior back wall. Tube ports on both sides allow you to route the hydration tube from the left or right, while leaving the other port free for other uses such as antennas or cables.
The low profile shoulder straps are made from 40mm wide webbing, with ladderlock buckles in the bottom corners of the bag for adjustment. The 25mm webbing on top of the shoulder straps allow you to attach sternum straps, hydration tubes etc.
Military grade materials
The majority of materials Savotta use for our commercial production are the same used in equipment for the Finnish Defence Forces and other defence and security clients. Our most commonly used fabric in load carrying equipment is extremely wear resistant 1000D Cordura, as per FDF specs, with polyurethane coating on the inside. The webbing and edge tape used are, again as per FDF specs, strong polyester webbing in various widths and thicknesses for different applications.
Savotta's green and M05 camouflage materials and accessories are by default compliant with strict FDF specs for NIR reflection levels, as should be since these same materials are used in official military equipment.
Modular and adaptable
PALS webbing on the sides and lid allow you to attach additional pouches and gear. This system offers numerous options for configuring the pack to suit your specific needs. Not only for pouches though, the PALS webbing can also be used to attach utility straps, shock cord, carabiners etc. Four webbing loops at the bottom can be used to attach utility straps.
The Jääkäri S can be rolled up to quite a tight package for carry inside a larger backpack for use as a daypack.

Nothing fancy, just a good old grafter.
I have a video carrying weight in it over 35 kilometres in one day.
Another video loading it up with pouches.
I have used it on many day and overnight bushwalks, off camera.
I bought the aluminium internal frame, which makes it a bit more comfortable when carrying weight in it.

@CDPOutdoors is it a specific frame for the "S" or do they have just one size?
I bought a green S two weeks ago. It has been a blast of a pack. Expanded it with the MPP Foam Mat, Universal Sternum Strap, black Vertical Pocket L, black elastic cord kit and HSGI Soft Tacos. It not only functions brilliantly, it looks good while carrying it.
It's a great little pack. You do so much with it.

I bought the camo.
I also use the medium size, but the small size is very light. Small is easier to pack compared to medium. It can be made compact in a natural way. The lack of padding on the back doesn't matter if you pack it properly. Anyway, it's a great product👍
They are both great products.
Packing your pack right will make it a lot more comfortable I agree.
They both have their purpose.
