    The interior of this is far superior to many cars costing twice the price. Plus it's not sold as a sports car. It's a GT, Grand Tourer. Which it excels at. I'm 58 and I'd buy this rather than an Aston etc.

      I've had a pleasure to sit in one at Geneva, and it's tan colored interior was so amazing that I was honestly shocked. Far better then almost anything on the market (and cars that come close are at least few times more expensive). Lexus did an amazing job indeed.

      I especially like the synthetic suede on the seats and doors as well as the abundance of plastics used on the dash. Nothing says high end like plastic!

    • @lefuedebout
      @lefuedebout 6 лет назад +1

      That " synthetic suede " would be a deal breaker for me, if I were in the market for such a car. At this price point I'd expect leather, leather and yet more leather. Apparently the synthetic suede costs 1/14 that of leather. Definitely " low rent " in my book.

    Alex, I'm really happy to have watched your review of this magnificent car. I recently purchased my new 2017 RX350 and I love it. However, the week before I had the opportunity to test drive this LC500. Speaking just for myself, I prefer the look, handling characteristics and horsepower with this V8 over the "insanely fast" turbo Porsche's, Mercedes, BMW's, etc. The horsepower with this vehicle is more than enough for the vast majority of adults out there who can responsibly handle it w/o incurring a speeding ticket or endangering others. I've never driven another vehicle that engendered to many looks, stares and phone-video occasions as this one did! If I had an extra $100K, this one would definitely be my next weekender vehicle.

    Maybe I missed something, did Lexus market this vehicle as a competitor to the Porsche 911 or the Mercedes GT. This is a personal Luxury car, not a sports car. It doesn't have huge trunk space because it's a personal luxury car, not an SUV. You should measure this vehicle against it's intended purpose, not whatever you can think up that it doesn't match up against.

  • @louislazarus2734
    @louislazarus2734 5 лет назад +2

    Jeez - 0-60 mph in 4.4 isn't quick enough for you? What would be? 0-60 in 3.2 like a ZR-1 Corvette? That's a race car. This is a beautiful LUXURY COUPE, a work of art, a marvel of modern engineering which is RELIABLE and won't cost you thousands when something minor goes wrong. This car is designed to be driven on public roads, not LeMans, dude! It's fantastic just the way it is. It doesn't need to go faster or be any quicker. Obviously you're another German "snob" who thinks anything made in Germany is the standard by which all other cars should be judged. However, you're not factoring in the cost of ownership. Let's tally up this car vs. any German luxury machine after five years and see how much more we've spent for that extra 1% performance. You'd have to be insane not to buy the LC 500. Somehow I suspect this isn't the car for you.

    Yea blowing the doors off its "competition" is not what this car is all about. And lets be honest NO ONE buying this car is gonna take it to the track or even drive remotely near its limits. With that said its perfection (ive yet to drive it sadly). Id buy this with the mission of road trips, long stretches of highway which im sure it would do just swimmingly. And it looks so...ugh...words cannot describe. I will say it will be a collectors car for sure. Hang onto it and be nice to it!

  • @Mamo878
    @Mamo878 7 лет назад +6

    Alex, maybe you're not really testing the rear seats for an adult quite the right way on a 2+2 coupe, which have a very small back seat area.
    They should rather be reviewed as a 2+1, with the rear used for a very occasional very short ride in mind for one adult (or child). Instead of sitting behind the driver you should be in the rear seat behind the passenger. That way the passenger seat can be moved up to make a little more room. That's a more realistic situation than trying to squeeze in behind the driver.

    • @AAutoBuyersGuide

    During your performance evaluation, why didn't you put the car in "performance" mode? Sport+ would have given you extremely different results. You have six different modes to choose from and you chose wrong. The 0-60 mph times are 4.4 seconds or even better. Next time you get to drive one of these, take advantage of the engineering that went into making it.

    I don't agree with your assertion which states it lags behind the competition in terms of performance. This car goes directly against the BMW 6 series s class coupe, Mercedes Amg GT and the likes. The 0-60 time for this Lc is 4.4 secs as recorded by most others when tested. The S class coupe does 0-60 in 4.6 secs, the 6 series edges it slight and the Amg GT edges it slightly as well. Horsepower they are all comparable, torque is where they edge it cause of turbo chargers. So In terms of performance I doubt there's that wide a gap like you make it seem. I agree there should have been more options like massaging seats available and more adjustments. That to me is the only area where the competition is ahead. But Lc looks a million times better than all the competition, the closest to it is the Jag F type and still it isn't as good looking. Then the interior quality which you didn't emphasise much on here is much better than the competition especially with different colour options like the tan and multi tone combo of white Blue leather with tan alcantara. So there are far more positives for this Lc against the competition. The Lcd instrument cluster on here does what the competition can't, the analog dial moves and gives u so much more access to things than what's on the competition that is just a basic ipad like screen with little or no visual effects except change of colour.

    This reviewer is talking about performance while driving in NORMAL MODE. He apparently doesn't realize there are four or five different driving modes. SPORT + is where he should be if he wants to critique performance. I own an LC 500 and can safely say it's all the car anyone needs with plenty of power for driving on public roads. If you want a race car, that's a different story. The LC is a very, very nice car to drive. It is comfortable and handles great. Factor in Lexus reliability and there is no reason to buy anything else.
