Haiqi (the Megalodon they captured) is basically the film's version of the shark from the books named Angel, who is the daughter of the female Meg in the first book (and probably the female Meg from the film version too). So the sequels are more than likely going to feature her a lot, but I hope that they give her at least 50% of the screentime if they do that. Did you hear about the bull shark attack on the British tourist on my sister island of Tobago on the 26th of April? It took his left arm and severely mauled him.
Generally convinced that the director saw the first draft of this film and said "f*ck that, I wanna make a kickass shark, dinosaur, sci-fi, action movie with a british super spy"and this was the 2nd draft draft
Exactly! That shark is so heavy and also was going fast/breaching. That force would have like shredded Stathoms hands and im pretty sure he would have probably found himself in the sharks mouth anyway 😂😂
One of the best react commentaries on the internet! While I loved the first Meg movie and have watched it countless times, this second movie was just so, so ridiculous it couldn’t be saved for me. (The first one was ridiculous, sure, but it was still basically a shark attack movie.) I checked out pretty early on, and then threw up my hands when Statham held his breath and swam in the Mariana Trench. I did enjoy all the nods to Jaws and Jurassic Park, though.
Its kinda wild how the multiple libing Megalodons dont take me out of the movie, but Statham somehow surviving the preassures of the Marina Trench does.
Question: at 5:40, something happens to the captive meg's eye, is this an example of the shark showing their nictotating membrane or something else entirely, and if so, why did the meg exhibit this behaviour? Love the content mate, keep it up.
Hey Kristian! Great review as always. I'd like to suggest two outrageously fun movies for a future review. Sand Sharks (2011): Dive into this over-the-top horror comedy where a unique breed of sharks can swim through sand, unleashing terror on a beachside community. Jimmy Green, the mayor's prodigal son, returns to the island intent on throwing a massive party, unaware of the recent deadly shark attacks. With local authorities and a shark expert joining forces, the townspeople must halt these predators before they turn Jimmy's big bash into an all-out bloodbath. Expect ludicrous scenarios and a shark-infested beach party like no other. Snow Shark: Ancient Snow Beast (2012): Set in a quaint New York town, this creature feature unfurls the chaos following an earthquake that releases a prehistoric snow shark from its icy tomb. As the body count climbs, a mix of town officials, scientists, and hunters converge to confront and eliminate the beast. Merging horror, science fiction, and suspense, the movie explores the terror of an improbable predator lurking beneath the snow. Brace yourself for a chilly reception from nature's frozen terror. I think these would make for some entertaining reviews!

Love you Brotha!!! 🙏🏻 PS. “Ocean Ramsey” is in it and the amount of gall she has to say “Keep your hands to yourself” while she spends the entirety of her time in the water touching and grabbing onto any and all sharks she sees was so APPALLING.

Hi Kristian! I did a total double take when I saw your FILA sweatshirt! I haven't seen anyone else wearing one in DECADES! I have the exact same one, however yours is in much better shape than mine. 😊 LOVE IT!
They’re different, but the whale sharks at Georgia aquarium have been trained to preform several behaviors for both feeding and health checks. Though the ethics around them keeping them at all is controversial given that 2 of the 4 sharks they started with died fairly early on (I don’t remember the details) And the ones they have are still juveniles raises the question of whether the aquarium will be able to handle their care as adults.
The full moon referencing in this movie is actually from book 6 where one of the Megs Jonas's son captures (yes, Jonas, in the books, has a fmily with the woman who is now dead in the movies. Sigh) a Meg that is the great granddaughter of the first Meg, and they named it Luna. She spy hops and stares at the moon.
Recently done a shark dive at blue planet aquarium in elsmere port. Always had an interest in the ocean and always dreamed of swimming with sharks. Anyway with doing that recently my interest has grown a lot more. Been watching through every one of your videos and learnt quite a bit off you which I highly appreciate. Anyway I loveseeing your movie reviews and seeing things you explain are real or not real. Anyway I can't see that you've yet done 'reef' which ive seen once but cant remember it exactly but they used real sharks for 99% of the footage so worth a commentary review i think. Also a top 5 or so shark movies or top 5 most realistic shark films etc would be good to watch from you. Anyway carry on with the great content on the channel, glad I came across it 👍
Would love to see you do a reaction to Shark Men. It's a National Geographic docu series where they catch and release white sharks in Guadalupe to tag them, measure them, take tissue samples, etc. I've always wondered whether what they did there would be considered ethical since it undoubtedly must have caused the sharks a lot of stress.
At least you didn't give us any spoilers... lol. TBH a friend of mine enthused about having watched this last year and as he spoke I had to wonder whether he'd spiked my coffee with something... turns out he hadn't.

These dino crocs are actually meant to be ichthyostegas just wanna point it out, it was canonically proven by film producers plus The Meg and Meg 2 were meant to be based on the novel adaptation of The Meg series, all tho it has outdated prehistoric creatures too, but in the novels, a few megalodons were meant to be all white (I don't know why) and there is some oversized prehistoric creatures like liopleurodon which it's stupidly oversized (Also the white megalodon is not a juvenile, it's a female meg and her name is Haiqi and the giant apex megalodon is named as Scarface and it's a male meg, it's also proven in the movie that Scarface is canonically a mate of Haiqi)
its not a shark film, but there is a film called rogue, its sbout a killer croc, its pretty good, probably not scentifically correct, but not a bad watch
A giant octopus (or different cephalopod) is obligatory for about every deep sea story for over 150 years, since Jules Verne's 20.000 Leagues under the Sea.
Realism: barely a 2 (I'm thinking 1.25? But I'm quite particular), Entertainment: with a cola mixed with Southern Comfort or Bacardi, I'd give it an 8 for the cackling, snortle laughs alone!!! 🤣🤣🤣 Theater security folks would be dragging my arse out of there, i do believe!

Can you do a video on 2nd Beach South Africa Shark Attacks and why they are so deadly? Ive seen Documentaries on it but they kind of just cut them off with theories!!
To be fair, any accuracies regarding the megs behavior is more due to Steve Alton, the author of the Meg book series. He may have quite a few flaws, but at least the first few books were pretty good. But also, the film makers absolutely butchered literally every aspect of the story except Jonah's name.
Haven’t seen it yet. The first one I watched in November 2018 on my way to the Philippines. Might be going to the Philippines again this November so should really save the second film for that flight 😂
I’ve heard that people can be affected by the full moon, but not that sharks may be affected by it too. That’s so cool! Considering the mutant lava shark video, I’m shocked I haven’t seen any click bait channels using the title “Werewolf Sharks Ravage Beaches”… at least, not yet. Is it mostly correlational evidence, or has anyone definitively proved causation?
Despite there never having been any prospect that I would have gone to see this, it is good to see how right I was. I did actually laugh out loud at the first mention of the Kraken! How about a review of The Pathetic Sharks from Viz? They are a bit more realistic.
The bit where Statham flooded his sinuses would have killed him from drowning right then and there. Human beings are not designed to move excess amount of water into our lungs, nor are they designed to hold liquid in ANY form without serious complications. So it's a stupid thing they did, but not THE stupidest. The stupidest would be expecting Statham to excrete ALL of his oxygen already inside his lungs and survive the pressure difference that would have been generated from the decompression chamber as it matched the surrounding water pressure around him. He would have gone pop pretty much instantly and become a red soup jello for everything to enjoy that was already attacking them.
the point about the dino crocs that are the same after milions and milions of years really bugged from the beggining of the movie. It is so stupid... Still you are the first one to point that thing out and i love you for that. Was telling that to other people and they just brushed it off as it is just a movie don t be such a neard... Pissed me of so much... I knew from the beggining the movie will be crap.
I enjoyed The Meg 2 it was dumb fun, though the books the movies are based on are surprisingly crazier than movies and I wish the movie had the kronosaurs that were in the book as well as the book's villain. Not very upset with the how far the movies have strayed from the books, like the second would be hard to do because it's basically a Bond story with giant prehistoric monsters.
If either Meg movie had actually followed the books instead of having to deal with rewrites from Chinese backers, they may have been semi accurate (other than the whole prehistoric species surviving at the bottom of the Marianas trench). Steve Alten's novels were actually believable (again, aside from the prehistoric species surviving, until you get to the semi-plausible one, Vostok, about the hidden ocean locked away under Antarctica), and again, I say semi plausible, in that maybe some of the species mentioned could have potentially survived an apocalyptic cataclysm like the end of the cretaceous period in an isolated and protected environment, but after 63 million plus years(since I'm pretty sure dunks lived long before then) there would have been enough mutations and evolution to make all the species found there unrecognizable. But I can't hate, love the books and the alternate history aspects
Hello, my name is Bruce! Haven't watched either Meg movie. I have a problem with extinct creatures STILL being around, size differentials, bad history. I'd spend too much time noticing all the problems!
I have to agree with you that the Kraken is completely out of place, Dr. Parton. The Kraken doesn't show up in any of the Meg novels at all, to my knowledge. In the second book, which this film is based on (spoiler alert), the enemy sea monster(s) for the Megalodons to fight turn out to be Kronosaurus, and they're just the start. Book 3 and onward include a PLETHORA of other prehistoric marine life forms to challenge the Megalodons for control of the oceans, but it isn't until Book FIVE that we finally get Megalodon's ACTUAL biggest rival making its debut: the prehistoric sperm whale Livyatan.
Can't believe I purchased this movie, at least it was cheaper than attending a cinema. I'll hang on to it for now in case it becomes a collector's item, yeah, right! LOL.
Despite not being copyrighted to the point of blocking the entire video, the fat cats at Warner Bros have still demonetized the video 🥲 #DownWithFatCats

Makes this week easier as i have lost my job a few days ago too.
To be fair, any accuracies regarding the megs behavior is more due to Steve Alton, the author of the Meg book series. He may have quite a few flaws, but at least the first few books were pretty good. But also, the film makers absolutely butchered literally every aspect of the story except Jonah's name.
That dubbed family guy line was 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
Underwater has some fun death due to pressure scenes. No sharks though. But people in aliens looking power armour deep down is good times.
Listen, Indiana Jones survived a fall from an airplane on an inflatable raft and a nuclear explosion in a fridge... action heroes are indestructible
Haven’t seen it yet. The first one I watched in November 2018 on my way to the Philippines. Might be going to the Philippines again this November so should really save the second film for that flight 😂
Another movie commentary 🎉
Enjoy!!
@@SHARKBYTES you ever see the movie shark bait 2022? Can you react ? 😊
I’d love to see you react to Under Paris🤣
Please review more movies of any kind! Hilarious!
Is it mostly correlational evidence, or has anyone definitively proved causation?
were-sharks
I watched this the other week on a flight. It was so bad it was (almost) good. I’m looking forward to your take.
Despite there never having been any prospect that I would have gone to see this, it is good to see how right I was. I did actually laugh out loud at the first mention of the Kraken! How about a review of The Pathetic Sharks from Viz? They are a bit more realistic.
Didnt the last shark that Monterey Bay released die from an infection because it kept bumping its nose into the glass
Can you do a video on the bull shark attack in Tobago
This movie is first and foremost a monster movie and It is a really good and fun movie
7:20 was that a dumbo octopus on the left side of the screen?
Out of curiosity, how can you be so sure that the Megalodon didn't have 7 gill slits? There are extant sharks with 7 gills.
Can't wait to go to the cinema to see that movie. ...... NO I don't think so.
Fabulous. Peak cinema
The should have put in a levithan whale instead of the kraken seeing as they actually competitors with the meg
Why a kraken? Because Sharktopuss called and said they hadn't gotten on the stupidity meter yet.
i love your videos!!
Can't believe I purchased this movie, at least it was cheaper than attending a cinema. I'll hang on to it for now in case it becomes a collector's item, yeah, right! LOL.
I was wondering what happened to the Reef
Lets hope this doesnt get copy striked
They still got me - buggers
