I family owned. A community Bank for 50 years . A bank has to have deposits to loan to customers. There is no paper money but Banks don’t create money, the Federal Reserve creates money not Banks. Banks have to get deposits from people and Businesses.

But it's indirectly the banking system together with fiat currency (ie Federal Reserve and Fractional Reserve Banking) that is creating money out of thin air. Bank will charge interest for loans. But that interest is impossible to pay back with the existing money supply. ergo, more money must be printed to pay back that interest.
