Thanks for making the video Brian. I appreciate it and hopefully it helps the drivers. And thanks to Mary for going to bat for me as well. We appreciate you guys!
FYI not a new rule it has been law in California for a long time, it was prompted by travel trailer wrecks, people hauling with early Tundras and Titans.
Good stuff Brian. I'm of the "unpopular" opinion that if you are hauling in any commercial capacity at all you should have a CDL...so I hope other states do crack down. Too many unprofessional drivers out there ruining the overall reputation of what we do. I know what they say about opinions though...lol. Thank YOU for your service and Semper Fi.
Got that. I see they specifically say in state licenses. However California's writing leaves it in the vague, and 10000 lbs gvwr can interpret it into CDL needed. I am avoiding California and working on my CDL
In regards to Ca; you can run 26k & below as a non CDL set up if your trailer is at 9990 lbs and below. Manufactures are tagging the VIN Plates as such for the Ca market (because of the GVWR 10k rule) so that you can still get a 20’-40’ trailer and scale below 10k on your deck. You can still run! You just have to watch your trailer weight so that you don’t exceed the GVWR / GVAWR accordingly on the Vin Plate and of course stay below the 26k GCVWR. We have been doing it for over 10yrs and cross all scales and states with no issues.

Aad the remaining 1/2 ton trucks. I saw a few accidents with clearly over capacity on the way to Glamis dunes and Ocotillo. Years ago.

Basically either get a CDL, get your trailer derated, or get a truck with a lower gvwr and start pulling lighter loads.
Another good reason to stay out of California!

Isn't Az 10k also? Hasn't California always been that way?
The Big Deal is they applied the law to an out of state carrier. Thats the dig.
Old news on comifornia
If he is not registered in comifornia then he falls under his state and federal law
This isn't a new law. Your girl needs to check her facts 🤣
Need to be any truck or van over 6500 lbs class a with full endorsement. And hazmat needs to be required to carry a gallon of anything including oil.
Tow Piglet talked about this some time ago. He said that’s why he gets all of his trailers derated to 9,990 lbs. Good info tho.
They’ll crack down on that too.
From what I understand, any business transactions with non cdl rig is considered cdl . Lol don’t sound right

This didn’t start in 2021, it’s been like that for many years.
Doesn't federal interstate commerce regulations overpower CA law?
Only if the federal law is more strict. Otherwise, state law rules. There is reciprocity between the states.

Yes amd they wonder why they have a truckers shortage . It's insane
