Indian team first practiced in Chennai in Nov' 1998 before flying to Sri Lanka for this series. I as a 6th std boy wore test whites and took autographs from the whole team including Anshuman Gaekwad the coach. Man, what a priceless moment it was! especially when Ganguly patted my head !! Those were Golden days ☺️

If only 1998 is considered, then Sachin was at absolute peak scoring some 1800+ runs averaging around 65 with 9 centuries. Aravinda scored a paltry 700 runs at an average of 32. Sachin in 1998 was a different batsman, miles ahead of anyone else.

Wonderful memories for me too as an Indian fan. Agarkar foxed Jayasuriya with a slower full toss as the slower ball won't go the distance.
