Very nice video. For a brief time fly fishing, you seem to be well accomplished. Funny enough, I was pretty sure where you were fishing, but of course would never ask, (not because it's rude, but for the same reason men like me never ask for directions, lol). I fish similar streams a little west and north and both areas see about the same amount of activity once hunting season begins or it gets a little deeper into the fall/winter. . and especially so if you're fishing during the week - no one at all! I've gone three times - once by me in EC NY - and haven't seen another fisherman. I grew up fishing Montauk in the 80s, when access to the South Side required a mile or two of walking combined with fall chill and adding a heavy pair of waders with Korkers strapped to the bottom and it took a special kind of athlete to fish that area. I recall only once or twice did I ever see another angler willing to walk that far to find fish. These days, when you can fish NY, VT, and MA year round, I assure you, only those tough enough ( and know how to dress for fall/winter fishing) will be on the water.
Massachusetts is a wonderful place to fly fish for trout. I wish I still lived there. They enforce the pollution laws there. Mass. is way ahead of their neighbor state New York in maintaining and improving water quality too.
Thanks PA!! Much appreciated!! Ive been fishing a ton lately but haven't had any luck!! the fishing should get real good in the next few weeks! -Tight lines!
Maybe a split shot or two would make a difference, Zach. I have had times where I got no action fishing a favorite zone, but got the fly just a tad deeper with the split shot 6 - 8 " above the wooly bugger, and sure enough that was all it took!
@@TheXeniaman ya I was told by some local guides to fish deeper! I actually went today and finally got one in the net. I think the stockers needed a few days. looks like its getting good now!
If you’re looking for a nice fly to expand your horizons a bit, the muddler minnow is a killer option. I fish all these same waters and the muddler will catch trout year round…it’s great for shallow, more “technical” water, too.
@@gonefishinzach7811 That’s the beauty of it. It’s technically a streamer but in my experience, it doubles nicely as a terrestrial like a hopper/cricket/moth/etc.
@@gonefishinzach7811 don’t answer this if you want the place to be available for people to see it here. I don’t recognize the water. Deerfield? Though it seems too shallow for there. I’m pretty sure it’s not the Swift. That I’m familiar with but only fished the Deerfield a few times. It’s bit far from my house near Boston. Since I can’t fish fish any more, I look at fishing vids & just tie flies to donate to Project Healing Waters. In Dec. or Jan, try the Swift & if regular flies aren’t working, put on a small white stonefly or white bead head Wooley Bugger. Best of luck!
@@FlyTyer1948 haha ya I won't say specifically but it isn't the deerfield. Its close though! But I did start fishing the deerfield this season though and love it and will definitely try to shoot some stuff there
@@gonefishinzach7811or they should be holdovers or the quality of those stockies is incredible! , they look clean , not bitted up , even the fins are not short or rounded like regular stocked trout, they look like wild trout even though they aren't as you said....maybe they are some wild raimbows there.....

Recently purchased some land in Sandisfield and am excited to start finding some spots nearby to fly fish.
Jealous!! You've got some killer fishing there! Id love to move out there some day!
I enjoyed watching your video, Zach. Well done. I look forward to seeing more of your fly fishing adventures. Wooly bugger is a great fly.

Zack presents himself as a person who would be good to fish with.
thanks Dennis! Much appreciated!!
Nice video! Have to love fishing the rivers and brooks in MA and New England overall.
Agreed! Its very underrated!! Tight lines!
Awesome video! I live on the Westfield river and there are some great spots to fish.

why you repeat yourself over n over about past river conditions..l
