- Christmas with chronic illness, mental health challenges, and missing family members is hard. But this year, our first Christmas with our miniature poodle puppy Captain Pip Digby, and deciding to do Christmas our own way by escaping just the three of us to a little cabin on the edge of Exmoor, meant that we had such a relaxing, stress-free time. In this vlog I share some clips from our perfect holiday getaway, reflect on the freedom of doing Christmas differently, and share some of my plans for starting the New Year.

Yes thanks, I was worried about my family being weird about my partner's name change, but they were good about it! I had a good time but it's always nice to be back home after. One of these years I'd love to do something similar to what you did, or even have xmas at home with some friends.

My Christmas story sounds bad but wasn't. I had a stomach bug, so I'll just say I lost 10 pounds in 5 days, you can imagine how. Thing is, it was way better than spending it with my partner's family with all the bickering, screaming kids, very hot house, and being the odd one out. My partner would give me some of their presents to open so I had something to open since I don't get anything from anyone (We've been together 18 years). I don't care about the no gift part, just the obvious "you're not really considered part of the family" vibe I get from them. This year I didn't have to go because I was sick, so I spent 2 weeks on the couch with my cat under a blanket, and it was one of the better Christmases I've had in years! Even with the stomach bug lol

Sorry about the tummy bug but that sounds like it came with a bonus break of some fab alone time! I'm so sorry about your partner's family, that's bloody awful. You are such a lovely man and you do not deserve that at all, you deserve far better. I'd love it if time machines had been invented, I'd whizz you over to us for the evening and you could join us tormenting Pip and eating cheese! Though I'm not sure it would help your tummy 🤣. Sending you the most enourmous hug and all the best for 2024. I'm looking forward to sharing more adventures with you!

Good advice on the hard goals and future focused. Stupidly Ive never thought along that line. And there it is, right in front of me. I guess I get it from my parents who are hard goaled.... and when you're not like them, you're an alien.
Bless you buddy. Yep, it's often trained into us to set these hard goals and be very future focused but it's often very counter intuitive, humans are ever changing beings, and the act of working toward something changes us, and often changes our mind too. Plus as I mentioned, when we have so much other stuff going on, these hard goals are too much for us, and being day to day focused is much better for our wellbeing and stress levels! I'll be updating on this in a vlog asap!
Good to see you, Chris and Pip. I’m happy you had a happy Christmas and that your 2024 has started well. My boys and I were home for Christmas. A few nights before, their mother comes over to go look at lights with us and then she stays with us through the new year and then she’s back off to working again. She travels for work so we really only see her a weekend her or there, then for 3 days at Thanksgiving and then at Christmas. That’s it. She’s on the road 335-340 days a year. But I have full custody anyways so that’s fine. My boys had a very Merry Christmas. They loved their gifts from me, their mom and the ones from Santa. Our tree is still up because we’re Puerto Rican and we never take it down prior to the 20th of January. January 6th is 3 kings day (día del Reyes) so they get gifts from the 3 kings that morning. Life should get back to normal soon. 🤣
Happy new year my friend! Sounds like you had a lovely holidays, that's a long time to keep a tree up, but I guess it makes it even more worthwhile putting it up! I hope you have some lovely plans for the year ahead?

My goodness you achieved so much last year lovely! So proud of you and all of your progress so far this year.
I like the idea of setting an aim to feel a certain way and implementing small changes to guide yourself towards that. Mine is tranquility, but it has had a bit of a delayed start 😂 💜xxx
We've both achieved so very much and I'm so glad to have developed a friendship with you and have shared these achievements tranquility is impossible to have every day in every moment, but developing the knowledge that it's there and being able to hold onto that in every moment , even the tough ones, now that is definitely something to aim for! Love you xx
