So I have a rock island m1911 CS and I was curious if a regular sized 1911 mag would fit in it and go and see a 10rd one a McCormick power 10. Gun shop employee thought it would be loose. I try it out and it fits like a glove just sticks out a tad to far for a Compact 1911 lol but I don’t mind
just bought 2 cobra mags for my scorpion.. worked flawlessly !!! extended mag with aluminum base plates. The best magazines I've purchased over the years. gotta try'em out, won't be disappointed.
The best 7 round mags are the ones Springfield sells can get them for as little a 12 bucks. Been shooting a 1911 for over 50 years i use chip McCormick.
The biggest issue i have with the 1911 is the mags. If it didn't have such bad mag issues it would be perfect in my eyes. Once I get a good mag though, God I fucking love it!
@Mr2fierce Absolutely agree with you when it comes to the tripp research cobra mags. I have ran 900 rds of federal hst 230 gr. 45 auto through 2 Kimber Stainless II's, a Kimber Stainless TLE II and a Kimber Stainless Raptor II with 10 tripp cobra mags and have had absolutely perfect performance. They also run great in my dan wessons and les baers. Like them so much I think I almost have 30 of them. Used to always use the wilson etm and etm hd mags along with the ed brown 8 pack mags but have switched those mags primarily to range mags. I have even left 1 tripp research mag fully loaded for a year and another for 2 years and both ran flawless. Still run great to this day. They have the longest mag bodies/tubes and very strong springs. A true 8 rd magazine. The feed lip design also has better geometry in my opinion having the round positioned higher and also releasing the round later sticking to the controlled feed system that browning designed instead of trying to bypass it ala wilson that releases the round much earlier which increases the chance of the round getting ahead or in front of the extractor potentially causing a malfunction if the extractor can't hop over the case rim. I have had this malfunction happen about once or twice every thousand rounds with a few les baers and dan wessons.
Love the video! It seems ever since i for my Springfield ‘74 A1 that Everyone I know or see on RUclips is saying to replace the stock magazine with a Wilson combat magazine 7 or 8 round , what are your thoughts ?
If the base plates on the Para magazines are "permanent".... how the hell did you change springs out when you first got 'em? And I looked/listened more than once, so I know what you said. So... enlighten me. How'd you do it?
you have to push down the follower and stick a thin punch in the magazine holes to hold the spring, and then angle the follower for it to slide out the top.
edge4006 That's what I thought. The only problem is that'll only work with mags that have an "L" shaped follower, and not any that have a tip-resistant one. Granted, I've not seen too many welded-base mags with those, but there are a few. Anyway, thanks for the response.
I found the Virgil Trips Cobra Magazines the best by far after trying most of the others for my 1911 gun, There were no FTF, JAMS,or Stove Pipes, No matter what ammo was put through my gun, A Ruger Full size SR 1911 at all, '\" WORKS FOR ME."
How much

Will a 1911 8rd .45 mag fit In a feg gkk .45..
Been having great experience with Wilson 47DC mags. 100% after years of use. Expensive though.

Are all 1911 mags more or less interchangeable? Or do I need to look for something that's explicitly compatible with my particular gun?
they are all interchangeable, but you need to buy a quality mag to insure reliability

I found that the Magazines that are made wit the newer, type Plastic & Carbon Followers, were less prone to any feed problems at all also etc.
I gotta pick me up some more 1911 mags. Only have 2 for my springfield atm
I know this is an old post but 1911’s are timeless! I just picked up a ‘74 A1 from Springfield, in love with her

Interesting , thank you for sharing, what would you recommend as a number 1 for range/heavy use and reliability ?

I like the 10 round Chip McCormack.
I got another mag from a gun shop that was from a SAM 1911 mag and it is my best 8 rounder and it cost only $20
