There were 14 beats sampled to make this classic (including the ones in the chorus). The arrangement of production on this song was not only perfect, but creative. Especially the hook. They even used parts of a classical record for it. This is definitely a top 10 best Hip Hop track of all time.
prolly costed a fortune to make
Cube knew how to flip a sample and I reckon this shit is near perfect, lyric, beat n humour wise. Sorry, forgot Knowledge. That too!
Rashad Supreme cats didn’t come at you for clearances for rap samples back then. Someone would have to ask Cube but I’m sure he got these on the strength
Wow. Gotta be more than 14. Feels like he sampled the entire history of music. 😝
Sirjix on the Beat 🕶
D-Nice-Call Me D-Nice
EPMD- So Whatcha Saying
Wrecks N Effect-New Jack Swing.
Public Enemy-Welcome To The Terrordome
Eric B & Rakim-I Know You Got Soul
Digital Underground-Humpty Dance
Funky Drummer-James Brown
Big Ole Butt-LL Cool J
Heed The Word Of The Brother- X Clan.
One the most creative Hip Hop records from that era. 🔥 🔥
you forgot the Run Dmc Break Beat from Here We Go!
@@ants8527 That would be the song, Big Beat. If you want to include that.
@@keithb9774 your right! I have a Oldschool DJ Breaks And Beats Battle record from 1992'' And Big Beat is on that record!
Yessss❤❤❤❤
That Heed The Word sample by X Clan to finish it out was absolutely brilliant
Ice Cube way ahead of his time...His production team was dope af...🔥🔥🔥
This was the Bomb Squad on production
@@SlimBandit211Sir Jinx produced this song.
DJ POOH !!!!! 🙌🙌
I still get Goosebumps when the P.E sample kicks in
Maaaaaaaaaaaan!!! THEE best part
Why he jack P.E, Chuck D, help cube after leaving NWA
@@ja2415 it's like him showing him he can use his people beats and still produce some 🔥.
was this song just PURE GENIUS or what?!!
Yep

I’m 50 and witnessed this first hand. Cube bodied everybody
It's just music not in my money.
Yep still today
I was in elementary and I stole this tape from my big bro for me and my friends 😂
You damn right
Ice Cube proving he can devour any beat you feed him. A beast on the mic!
the fact that he made a song like this and actually jacks beats and make dope ass songs on them....you cant do anything but respect him
He pushed them up
This was the first song Ice Cube took a jab at NWA with. After this, they dissed him some more. Then Ice Cube wrote No Vaseline and it was all over for that feud with NWA. He killed them with that diss song.
How was it a jab they beef wasnt about jacking beats.
Dennis McDaniel wym? He definitely disses NWA in the song
@@asapdaniels9704 the last part of the song is off of 100 miles n runnin...where it goes "sahprize n.gggaaaa" .
Plus the whole video of dj pooh and crew running was a direct shot at nwa's 100 miles n runnin video where they are running away the whole video.
And...this wasnt the 1st shot ice cube took at nwa either.
Earlier that year in 1990, cube did a song called "played like a piano" with King Tee where he says " last year i was RUTHLESS, this year im LENCHin mutha fuckas (laughs)"...which, if u knew your shit, was a subliminal jab at eazy e's RUTHLESS records.
😱😵😍😎💞

The Humpty Dance Sample ....bruh THATS THE BEST PART OF THE SONG
Na each beat is dope in its own way , n how cube flows over makes it even better
❤❤❤❤❤
The EPMD beat sounded better.
Xclan
Cube was a beast on this! He was clowning all the popular artists at the time. Jackin your beat and flowing over the track. I miss this part of hip hop.
+leander logan He was paying homage to the people whose beats he used. He was just creative like that with the way he delivered it making it gangsta.
+titwio he sure did, I like the Flava Flay part
He wasnt clowning everybody..
For all yall youngsters this was the era when cube was the meanest man on the mic period!
@@sheperdjohnson1185 Cube was a Psycho on the Mic, leaving nothing but Lyrical Slaughter is his wake 💯
Humpty beat goes hard
hell yeah
Dooo me baybeeeh 😎
I was popping bottles in the club at this song one night
ISTG I turned my radio up so HIGH while leaving work
I wish it was lasting longer..
This song is legendary. Props to the video producer/editor as well, the timing of the Cube's left hook to the kick off and bass hit of Welcome To The Terrordome is gold.
The production and arrangement on this song is ahead of its time 👌
One of the sickest 90's rap tunes ever.
Tune? I know but cmon..
tunes lol
It is a very nice jingle!
Its called hip hop not rap rap is mumble music which is new school and hip hop is old school the real hip hop
Facts!
the little jab he threw at N.W.A at the end 👌👍
Supposably he dissed NWA in that verse
+onofre eduardo He did, Jackin for Beats came out after 100 Miles and Runnin EP, but the 100 Miles song was already released for Radio play, so he released this, but then Real Niggaz got released with the EP (and was put on the Nigga 4 Life album later) so after he heard Real Niggaz that's when he released No Vaseline.
+ExecutionStyleInc Damn you seem to know your hip hop history. Thanks for the lesson. Peace.
ExecutionStyleInc this was in 1990 100 miles in running came out in 91
Yea a lot of people didn't catch that one. lol
The dislikes are from the people that got their beats jacked
Yeah LL Cool J, Rakim, Public Enemy, EPMD, Digital Underground. and others.
🤣🤣🤣🤣
😂😂
😂
B-Real a few years later 😅
When Cube left N.W.A, he did it all for himself and Cube wouldn't let bring him down, he's always been top of west and also, stay west always.
Cube goin Solo was the best thing he ever did$$$$
100
Ice Cube rode all the beats perfectly! He rapped over the EPMD beat the longest and that LL cool j beat 🔥🔥🔥Cube definitely gave it that gangsta lean! 💯💯💯
When this dropped this was basically Cube with all the Infinity Stones.
For real he is kinda hip hop Thanos
My daughter is 14 and she loves Ice Cube and west coast rap.. today raps doesn’t even excite her.. I find it interesting that she found it herself
I'm also 14,this is exactly how I feel
When i was 14 i had vinyls n cassettes of De La Soul n The Pharcyde back when cds were poppin .. i thought i had an old soul but ive grown into it now
D-Nice - My Name Is D-Nice is my favorite part of this. He goes off when The Humpty Dance beat drops too. Whole shit is classic, hip hop in its purest form.
GrooTheWanderer80 that d nice beat is hard.
Listent to LSD - Shut Da Fuck Up. Best of both worlds
when they drop the "funky drummer" sample i get chills. that break never gets old
💯
Ice Cube wearing a Ice Cube shirt is the hardest shit EVER
As many times as I seen this i never knew he had his own shirt on lol
Let’s call it… Without Ice Cube… we wouldn’t have Dr Dre, Snoop, Eminem, 50… Ice Cube on Straight Outta Compton put that whole camp on the map…
Big ups to Public Enemy, D Nice, Digital Underground, L.L. Cool J, X Clan and EPMD for getting their beats jacked!
dollarsmakesense11 Even the Beasties got jacked... from what they'd previously jacked (BT Express, etc.).
and zapp and roger
what about zapp and roger
dollarsmakesense11 it was cool mix tho
dollarsmakesense11
STILL is....
this is what is known as lyrical genius, not to many rappers have that these days
I lost my mind when I heard the Digital Underground Humpty beat. That’s one of my all time favorite beats.
He jacked it.
I like how He Mixed Rakim & Eric B’s Beat Right Before That Shit Was Live🔥🔥🔥 Props To Whoever Mixed All The Beats Together
shows you how great ice cube's cadence is that it works seamlessly on so many beats
Ice Cube = 1990. Year now = 2022. All normal people listening Gomunkul 6 now $
I had this album on a dub cassette. Growing up listening to this, Da Lynch Mob and P.E. Man, those were the days The early 90's were awesome.
+Los Lobos that is when music was still pure and you could feel and see what the artist wanted you see ...I had to keep a cassette in my truck because like you I have a lot of the 90's on cassette
That's the Purist Way to Listen Cruising and the Nostalgia
Who you tellin'...yaaaasss!
♨️♨️♨️
Cube was lyrically on point...so much talent!
This was the beginning of prime Cube. He didn't start to fall off lyrically until Lethal injection.
Still top 10 when you think about this prime rhyme skills.
I think Cube's first weaker album was the Predator. "Good Day" was one of the few good songs on it. AMW, Kill at Will and the Death Certificate was his prime imo.
@@lykedady72lethal injection?
Craig was framed. It was really Red stealing those damn boxes.
And I don't party and shake my butt, I leave that to the brothers with the funny hair cuts, and it'll drive you nuts, steal your beat and give it that Gangsta touch..
sick line...
iLL Clicks
Only ones who mainly wore those funny hair cuts was those out East up North. Out West, they wore the heck out of those jheri curls back then.
iLL Clicks Still I don't wear Skinny jeans 🤘🕵🏼♂️💯😂😂😂
HE WAS REFERRNG TO HAMMER
Huh naw, that was a reference to digital underground humpty shock g. The same group 2-pac was in as the hype man. If you notice he said that when the humpty dance beat came on. Hammer came out way much later
Cube is legend without doubt.
Favorite Cube track of all-time. Crushed it. When the Terrordome piece comes game over...
When the West Coast and the East Coast combined to make MAGIC...
I am from philly. this is west coast at its finest

Damn I love this song!! Brings back memories.
I’m 52 and always listen to ice cube since the 80’s, this is one of my top 5 cube tracks , brilliant arrangement and way ahead of its time
I see you og
Don't think ice cube was rapping in the 80s big dawg but we know what you mean
NWA also this was recorded in 1989 released in 90
@@a8_brosk635you are definitely not an Ice Cube fan or follow west coast hip hop. Cube has been rapping since the 80’s, he was in a group called CIA then he was in NWA. This all happened in the 80’s.
"And even if you're down with my crew" , Cube totally didn't give a fuck
This has to be the world's most expensive beat...
prettycoolPJ Cube said he never made another one because of all the money he had to dish out for sampling.
prettycoolPJ
Arron Conley
prettycoolPJ so fucken what
Not really. He jacked them all
dj pooh look like he was already running from Debo
That's cuz pops trippin he want him to ask for his bike back...you know he wouldn't trip.
Omar Scruggs funny he shole did
some scholars believe he's still running to this day.
Omar Scruggs my grandma gave me that chain
lmao.....ikr
This was a strategic Classic! Cube JACKED beats and got away SCOTT FREE! ✊🏿
This was so creative
This song would take a billion dollars to clear each sample today!
+P Diddy Yeah! Back in the day if you sampled a beat, you battled and whoever won, kept the beat.
+clark4023 Yeah no. That's not how it worked.
+Dwayne Clark
No it's not lol
+skigh45 No, it's not...That's why I said was :) Today's Rappers are not like the old school NY MC's. There are no more true DJ's. A lot of beat makers tho!
well yea if they sold it i think
He jacked everything from Strictly business to Big ole Butt. Only 2 rappers I saw do this flawlessly is Ice Cube and Game 300 Bars.
Every time that Digital Underground comes up 💃🏾💃🏾💃🏾💃🏾💃🏾
Yes!!!!
Cube was on a mission after Nwa
one of the greatest hip-hop tracks of all times
I wish i was alive back then soo much, so i could see Cube in his Prime lol
It was fun growing up back in day. That's when rap and hip hop was in it's prime.
+MoorsAreIsraelites yeah it was Good growing around true hip hop I'm 25 going on 26 next year and I'm still playing old school hip hop till this day most of these teenagers don't what real hip hop is but it's some out there that do
+Raheem Shabazz
thats right. Old school music is allways best
It was beautiful thing to see 😍
I was born in 87 but my siblings use to tell me cube didn't like Dre & N.W.A that's as far I can remember but I remember nuthin but a g thang & watching boyz n the hood & they said ice cube smash on a fan of eazy e because at the time he didn't like eazy e

What's a part-time jack move🤣🤣 being petty on friyay.....
THAT BASS!! On 4 twelve inch Vegas, some 10's and 6's with tweeters! This blew the doors off of mini trucks in the 80's!😆
Man, I miss this era Cube. Pissed all the way off. This shit couldn't even happen now, from the samples alone.

Perhaps one of Hip Hop most uniquely original concepts ever!!!
I was a teen when this electrifying song came out. Cube made a bold statement in hip-hop with it. W

This is Dope I'm so glad this was my era. I remember all of these is new songs.

1:46 public enemy - welcome to terrordome
The camera work and editing on this is crazy 1:45
Soon as the guy with the hat crosses the 180 line it cuts to the punch, the cuts to the guy falling, brilliant.
This is the greatest track of this era. Cube was on some other sh*t.
Cube was hungry. That's why the lyrics were tight. Pure Awesome.
Okay, here are the breakdown of the songs sampled, for possibly the best hip-hop song ever created:
[0:38-1:01] D-Nice-They Call Me D-Nice;
[1:02-1:25] EPMD - So What Cha Sayin';
[1:45-2:04] Public Enemy - Welcome to the Terrordome;
[2:05-2:23] Digital Underground - The Humpty Dance;
[2:32-2:37] Eric B & Rakim - Lyrics of Fury; [2:38-2:50] LL Cool J - Big Ole Butt;
[2:51-end] X-Clan - Heed the Word of the Brother
And N.W.A. -100 Miles And Runnin'.
You forgot The Last Poets at the very end of the song.... "Surprise!!!"
ALL those tracks are money.
the chorus also has mans mans world in it
[2:19-2:22] James Brown - Funky President
He definitely infused crazy, funky, gangsta, East and West Coast beats 🎧 and stayed with it on key. Was definitely killing it in NWA and still killing now!
The way this beat was arranged was phenomenal. Cube destroying beat after beat...
This song blew my mind when I first heard it.
Me too....he had already changed the game by going solo with his album and then months later this came outta nowhere!
2020 ...yes I'm white. I'm 49 I absolutely love jce-cube...
"Ice Cube'll make it thump, but right about now..." So good, right into The Humpty Dance.
2:03 went hard af
This is the track with the most godly drum breaks.
This shit never gets old. The arrangement is 🔥🔥
Remember hearing this in 91 aged 14. The breakbeats blew me away. Eventually got me into hardcore rave then drum and bass still to this day
This Is True Hip Hop For Life Man!!!
The sounds of my youth!!!

Nothing but a come up - Gimme that BASS and don't try to run up ! 💥
You knew a dude is real when you have the same crew now you started with
DoctorBrute who shut the fuck up cube is a fake ass gangsta
Marcus Perez Cube is a studio gangster who got his ass beat in the 90’s + he grew up in a nice, peaceful neighbourhood.
I got respect for him as an artist when he made music from 1987 to 1993 but when he talks about being a gangster and hard he’s nothing but a phony fakin’ the funk (as Main Source would say).
Also, Cypress Hill (”No Rest For the Wicked”) and Common (”The Bitch in Yoo”) murdered Ice Cube on their respective disstracks.
The only one Ice Cube killed was the rest of N.W.A. in 1991 when he dropped No Vaseline. But, MC Ren, Eazy-E and Dr. Dre weren’t the most lyrical dudes..
@@forcedtohaveahandle probably got yo ass beat in the 90s to but unlike Cube you ain't got no paper

The "even if you're down with my crew" bar hits so hard, cuz Cube recorded "Burn Hollywood Burn" with Kane & PE on "Fear of a Black Planet", then not only samples them and jacks their beat on the song, but simulates beating them down for the video. Gangster.
