  • The chefs were randomly assigned one of the five basic taste profiles: salty, sweet, sour, bitter, and umami. They were then required to form pairs and create dishes harmonizing their two different tastes. The dishes were served to the members of the Los Angeles Philharmonic and their conductor Gustavo Dudamel at the restaurant Otium, in celebration of the orchestra's 100th anniversary.

    This was one of my favorite challenges. Utilizing the Human 5 Senses of Taste in an Orchestra Themed Challenge was pretty ingenious.

      Karen and Nini - as I recall the judges thought the tomatoes were kind of gross.
