"How big can this ocean be?" "That is a silly question considering its a fucking ocean" and this is the reason why i was so excited for Cry to play through this game
Aw, dude, I like Catherine. I like Catherine a lot. She's so chill about being a sentient brain scan and not technically being human. Plus she balances out Simon's cynical nature pretty well. They're cute together. Also, I like how quickly it was addressed that Simon isn't totally human. It was pretty obvious (to me, at least) from the beginning, and I was worried they were gonna try and make that be the big endgame plot twist, but I like how they got that out of the way pretty quick.
Owl of Bun You mean more than one copy of Simon? Cuz OG Simon's for sure dead. Like, that was a full 100 years ago, plus the apocalypse that happened, so he ain't alive. But, yeah, our Simon meeting other Simons would be cool. I'm also interested in what Catherine said about the real, human her possibly being alive somewhere. That'd be cool, the two Catherines meeting up, hanging out, sharing ideas and experiences and stuff.
"I'm just a voice in his head!" I'm not sure why, but this made me really really want a game where you play as the protagonist, but not directly. You just play as a voice in his head, and can like, have conversations with him and suggest a course of action. If done right it could make an amazing game.
They couldn't have saved her from something like that. If she really is the last human alive, then she would've been cursed to an eternity in a dark, dank power console room.
cameron koehler If it was she probably wouldn't have been in that much pain, and the robots were killing the humans, remember? I'm pretty sure it got the jump on her and was using her body for energy.
+Adam Bolton I had that happen if you run too fast while the screen disorts. I didn't listen to my heartbeat and kept pushing myself, saw a creepy figure a la Fight Club and nearly pooped myself.
@@Dragon.7722 5 years late, but it's a flesher. When the shuttle crashes you can hear it banging from the other side, and it appears, but doesn't attempt to hurt you, then it disappears. There is a cut enemy called a crawler that chases you if you kill amy, and it has her brain scan.
Cry: pulls out first cable. Amy cries out in pain. Simon: shit... you ok? Amy: I don't know. I wanna go home. Cry: you and me both... (pulls second cable.) Me: Damn Cry, you scary.
+tigerlove525 Yes! I watched back on ep.2 and she specifically says Lambda D: its so frustrating knowing hes doing the wrong thing but you cant do anything!
He walked from Upsilon A to Upsilon B (map at 19:38 ) . Lamba is in between Upsilon B and Theta. Though I am fairly certain the crash happens in that Upsilon B -> Lamba gap since you have to go through the Lamba station anyway. Since it crashed he had to keep walking all the way to Lamba. He could have picked anywhere and the same thing would have happened.
+tigerlove525 It doesn't matter, if he'd said 'go to Lambda' they would have crashed anyway. In this case, at least, it doesn't matter where he decided to go the result would have been the same.
Wait a minute, if what Catherine says is correct, that the computer is just a copy of her consciousness--the real Simon Jarret continued to live his life after his 'brain scan'. The person Cry's controlling is a COPY of Simon Jarret. Only thing now is to find out why he woke up now of all times..
The brain scan thing is cool and all but when you think about it, you won't be that robot that lives on because it is just a copy of you and the you that is now will die and not experience the life of a robot. If there was a way to transfer the mind rather than copy it, I'd be down for that.
+DragonWarrior45 Boredom is an emotion, if we master direct consciousness transfer like being implied you could alter emotional states. Hell we can do that now. So you would only be bored if you couldn't find out a way to remove it or have direct control over when you experience it. And since emotions are said to be chemical imbalances/mixes in the brain, having a machine brain would eliminate that variable. Emotions would have to me emulated in a different way. Sooo... boredom wouldn't really be an issue unless you were programmed to have it, and for whatever reason was forced to experience it. Such as being locked in building in the bottom of the ocean.
+Sasq Uatch No, emotions are complex messages or ideas your brain is interpreting from a situation. Or that's how the theory goes, the actual theory. As for Brain Chemistry, its less "causing" and more "enabling." On topic for "copying," the idea is similar, in principle, to reproduction. In a universe where everything erodes to the slow march of entropy, preserving even a mere fragment of one's self is one of the highest acts of autonomy and authenticity. Everything wants to be permanent, yet the only way to deny thermodynamics their due is to copy.
OH FUCK NOW I GET IT. Do you remember at the beginning? The very first console tells us "Suit 3: unknown contamination". YOU are that suit, or better, what contaminates it.
I swear, that moment where music starts playing and the door starts opening and when it opens it darkens to the "more to come" screen...that was the most artistic ending to a let's play video I've ever seen.
+POLAR BEAR HUGS There is but I don't believe there is a way for the first two. At least cry tried really hard with Carl at first, he tried harder then most people i've watched play this.
+Nelson DiCarlo The very first robo (i dont think we ever found out it's name) who wouldn't really talk to cry, apparently couldve been "saved" but apparently if you "save" people, it makes the game harder/more enemies. Besides theyre all on really bad life support. Once the building runs out of power, they'll all be dead anyway. And i'm pretty sure they all want to be dead if theyre in agony but maybe that's just me.
Lana R Can't tell if dead or just deactivated. We know its probably deactivated due to Katherine who stated at one point, " its very disconcerting popping in and out of existence like that." So, there is "hope" for them? Well, except for amy, she was SCREWED.
Nelson DiCarlo Well from what I understand right now (ive only seen up to episode 3) the robos are just brain scans. So theres "hope" for all the brain scans sure. Unless they have to be in specific robo bodies but I doubt that. We would need all their chips to reactivate them though and i dont think anyone wants to be going back to upsilon anytime soon to "save" everyone. But yeah Amy was already done for. Like Cry said though, she more than likely wanted death since she said "it doesn't let anything die" but maybe she has a brain scan somewhere and later on we can all just have a robo party on ark xD

Cry, bud, I've always wondered this; feel free not answer, but do you deepen your voice in your videos or do you always talk in the manner that turns ladies legs everywhere to jell-o puddin?
I'm so glad they didn't try to make that "you're a robot with the old brainscan" some huge suspense twist at the end, it was way too obvious what with the flickering vision, the changing body (suddenly a suit, suddenly the flashlight) and the already introduced concept. I had feared being able to guess the whole story already, but now I'm completely hooked again and wondering what will actually happen instead~ :D(although tbh I had assumed that we were some (evil?) machine trying to imitate humans or something, using the old (first?) experimental brainscan because maybe that one wasn't registered yet/recognizable or sth... )
+Shining Darkness Most European languages look the same too, even though they aren't; they're the same squiggly looking symbols to an onlooker. Japanese is different to Chinese by using simpler kana (このテクストはかなでかいたよ) to represent sounds of the complex kanji characters (人類絶滅事件), which are borrowed from Chinese. Chinese is just made of the more complex characters, but they have a simplified script to make the kanji elements more memorable, which is a definite way to tell them apart.
Mr Msan You didn't get the joke. That's okay, it wasn't very good. But yeah, honestly Arabic letter based words are way more difficult to distinguish than kana and kanji. I'm sure if I actually knew how to read them (then being East Asian words) they wouldn't seem nearly as similar.
I see so many great connections to my favourite game, Bioshock. One of the big differences is that in Bioshock, mankind edits human DNA directly, with the use of other species DNA, and fuse it with technology. In SOMA, they're using human technology to extract human consciousness from DNA and simulate it in technology, completely separate from DNA!
Cry, your Soma playthrough is the first I have watched from you and I have to say that I enjoy your subtle humor. It's a nice change of pace from the screaming let's players that are everywhere. Keep doing what you are doing!
"It suckled my hand." I know that couldn't have been more obvious at that moment, but there was something about the way he just says it that made that moment better. xD
I ABSOLUTELY FUCKING LOVE THIS SERIES. . . and CRY is doing it so much justice!! Seriously man. You are AMAZING. You aren't running around screaming at the screens and being immature with your commentary. You're interacting with the environment and just. . . playing the game as it is. Good job.
I'm really really loving these two videos a day, Cry!:D I feel practically spoiled. Hehe. Thank you very much for taking the time out of your day to give us a little extra content, here and there(: It's greatly enjoyed, and appreciated!
Does anyone else laugh a little when Cry just picks something up, looks at it for a sec, then just turns and throws it? It's a bunch of futurostic stuff and it's funny to watch sorta cx
This is so rapture xD if Bioshock had an 'in the future' and not in the 60s game, this would be it xD big daddy's would've been too like low quality for the world and Suchong came back and created the machines that were hard to destroy, dayum. "Rapture Revamped" :D
That's such a good way to think of yourself in a video game. The character's life is on the line but you, the player, are just a voice in their head. I like that.
the idea of robo-cry is awesome!! personally if the aboveground was wrecked and i found out i was in a robot body i would be glad i'm alive as long as i could move around and try and fix stuff & save people-bots. like cry said in the quiz it would be a new chapter in my life. :)
This is getting interesting! I'm glad this is getting posted, it's been awhile since ANY youtuber has gone back to the good ol' horror game. Especially with the creators of Amnesia, their graphics were insane.
+EwesInYourBrainz I've loaded a save file once, and it took an abnormal amount of time. Dunno if that helps or not. (I'm also a lot farther along than Cry as well soooooooo :3)
yeah im further but only by about an hour. sometimes when i load a save file while im in the water the game straight up closes to windows, doesnt give me a prompt or anything. i loaded one about 7 minutes prior and it worked, so i was a little puzzled.
I've been subscribed since you had 100k-200k subs. I still remember the daywhen i was stuck at amnesia and had to check a walkthrough in youtube then i discovered you. Instantly subsribed. I still remember the days you were uploading "white day" and "cry of fear".. Watched all of em and after years, imStill watching your playthroughs. I've watched countless series since then. And i want you to know that watching you play those games is just so relaxing and i love it. Especially when im going through tough times like right now your vids help me keep it together and relax. The games you play are masterpieces and how you play them immerses me even more. Thank you man, seriously. From a Fan From asia :).
Ok, here are my predictions for the future: -They will eventually find the real Catherine -One of two things happen. Either the real Cath ends up destroying her scanned version, or Simon and scan-Cat have to end Cath's life because she's ended up like Amy or somesuch -Catherine has some vital information scan-Cath doesn't, and things prove to be even more fucked up than they believed -Simon won't make it to the ARK. He will eventually become dependent on the "Matrix buttholes", and someone else (possibly Cath) kills him to show him mercy. -This could possibly mean that another scan of Simon wakes up on the ARK, not aware of all his other scan went through, and he'll meet a scan of Cath, but won't know anything about her or the others.
READ THIS! Believe it or not there's actually a program called LifeNaut that is trying to collect peoples personalities and life into a file and shoot it into space like in this game. They've also created a robot called Bina48 that is made from the memories and personality of a woman called Bina. The robot supposedly has feeling. Its quite amazing.
You do realize artificial sentient life is nearly impossible especially considering how limited we really are technology wise also you can't take physical memories out of people
They didnt take physical memories out, they had her answer a very large amount of questions about her life, feelings, and opinions and uploaded that to Bina48
"Over here? This stuff? These are noodles!" I don't know why, but I started laughing so hard I cried when you said that. Enjoying this playthrough so much!
I always love when you use Savant in the outro. I hope you get to see a show of his someday. (I've seen him three times myself) Loving the series so far, keep it up man!
***** I was wrong, but so are you, "Thomas informed that while this "sub-story" won't have a Telltale-style effect, instances like this in SOMA will be referenced later". What you do will affect what happens later on, so yeah it'd probably be better to keep her alive.
I'm not sure you read what I said, but I'm going under the assumption that you didn't considering I said that I was wrong and didn't bring up the possibility of changing the plot.
***** What happens later on does include potential dialogue that is said, if you kill Amy you will get different dialogue than someone who doesn't. So yes it does indeed affect what happens later on, I didn't realize that was a hard concept to grasp.
does anyone know what the hand sucky thing is for??? I'm assuming it's for health, right? And from what I've seen if Cry touches it, it takes power away too.....Idk, anyone wanna explain their theories to me, I'd love to hear them!
+itsxela It's a health/save station. The hand sphincters appear to harness electricity, which would be beneficial to Cry, as the electricity would heal him, since he's a robot.
what if, WHAT IF, he's still being scanned and this is his brain bleeding and creating a new world. Because...like...every person he meets, he can't save...kinda like his friend who died in the car crash and all. Idk, just a theory.
+Leandra Troyack mm interesting it could be just a big trippy mess indeed, since they did "hey your a scan inside a diving suit" pretty quickly, so could be..low but there is a chance.
Sci-fi is my favorite genre of anything ever tbh, this game is amazing too. I could never play it myself because I am awful at horror games so I'm glad you're playing it :D
i dont get it so you just find out youre a robot who can breathe underwater and probably dont even need to eat why the hell would you go back into the creepy and dangerous lab instead of leaving for a magical undersea adventure fuck that lab lol walk till you find land then figure out where to go from there
+vVAstrAVv Well he also found out that the land was turned into a scorched hellhole by a meteor and that the closest thing to civilization at this point is a virtual world so the choice of what to do next seemed pretty obvious.
vVAstrAVv Well the ocean is also pretty big you can't really just pick a direction and start walking, he would either die of exhaustion or starvation which I'm assuming is something that affects him considering how he can get injured but that may simply be due to mental state.
+vVAstrAVv pretty sure at the early portions he is still delusional. True the facts should be obvious, but you'd be surprised what the mind will conjure to keep the happy lie going. . He's basically still reciting the mantra 'i am a human' in his head, only he's needing to yell it louder by now.
Man, I feel bummed out that the game told you the whole story of what happened to Simon already. As soon as we met carl it was very obvious on what was going on.
"eh Star Trek BWEH" I FEEL SO DISHONOURED. DISHONOUR ON YOU. DISHONOURED ON YOUR COW. No for real though, am I the only one who hasn't bothered to watch a single episode?

I ABSOLUTELY FUCKING LOVE THIS SERIES. . . and CRY is doing it so much justice!! Seriously man. You are AMAZING. You aren't running around screaming at the screens and being immature with your commentary. You're interacting with the environment and just. . . playing the game as it is. Good job.
"why-does it feel good when you do it? why?... eh, i mean, i guess it's something to do with your hand when you're bored"
-cry, 2015
I'm really really loving these two videos a day, Cry!:D
I feel practically spoiled. Hehe.
Thank you very much for taking the time out of your day to give us a little extra content, here and there(:
It's greatly enjoyed, and appreciated!
This series is 10/10
Does anyone else laugh a little when Cry just picks something up, looks at it for a sec, then just turns and throws it? It's a bunch of futurostic stuff and it's funny to watch sorta cx
well... at least we found Amy..
"That's a positive light.... It's blue! Blue is good" Yep, just like that robot monster of the beginning x)
This is so rapture xD if Bioshock had an 'in the future' and not in the 60s game, this would be it xD big daddy's would've been too like low quality for the world and Suchong came back and created the machines that were hard to destroy, dayum. "Rapture Revamped" :D
I love how understated Cry's reactions are. Accidentally falcon punch a glowing sphincter? 'That was weird'
The way you act about clipping textures makes me crack up every time, please don't stop pointing them out!
I. NEED. MORE. please cry. I just discovered your channel and your humor in combination with Soma's story is just amazing. You earned my sub,
Goddamn, I'm enjoying this. Nothing like some great quality content to put you at ease after 5 hours of studying. Thanks Cry!
Your selections for outro musics are just incredibly well related to the story ! I love it
oooohhh shit
21:19 clipping textures in the shuttle
daaamn
These videos made me go back and watch all your Amnesia videos. Now as much as I love you, damn man have you come far.
Welp, I can confidently say Cry will kill every one of the "survivors" in the game.
That's such a good way to think of yourself in a video game. The character's life is on the line but you, the player, are just a voice in their head. I like that.
Cry I get so excited when you play this game, thank you!
“it suckled my hand”
CRY YOU FISTED IT
the idea of robo-cry is awesome!! personally if the aboveground was wrecked and i found out i was in a robot body i would be glad i'm alive as long as i could move around and try and fix stuff & save people-bots. like cry said in the quiz it would be a new chapter in my life. :)
Bad new the world is trashed... good news everyone left alive can do the robot. XD
This is getting interesting!
I'm glad this is getting posted, it's been awhile since ANY youtuber has gone back to the good ol' horror game. Especially with the creators of Amnesia, their graphics were insane.
Cry, have you been experiencing any crashes or problems loading a save file? im curious if this is only me of if its a common thing.
+EwesInYourBrainz Only loaded a save file twice so far and no issues, so so far I'm good!
ok, thanks for replying. ill look around some forums or something.
+Azothazo Same here, my load took forever, about four chapters in! But I haven't experienced any crashes at all.
How does Cry see the tiniest clipping texture in the darkest corner or random spot every time? lol
man I love how cry ends each video... every ending of a video is different it makes each and every one of them special..
If Bioshock and the Matrix had a baby, it would be Soma.
That's actually a really cool ploot twoost, the real Simon is the Ice Ki-...I mean, he's dead because meteor, but they put his brain into a robit!
+Blobbert Mcblob GUNTHER NO GUNTHER NO GUNTHER NO
+Blobbert Mcblob dont think your following it quit so well, if those are your picked words.
ViralForceMarketing No, you're right, I'm pretty damn confused xD
+Blobbert Mcblob Not quite...
"Me? I'm just a voice in his goddamned head! I'll find others!" Playing video games in general has suddenly become a lot more sinister.
Ok, here are my predictions for the future:
-They will eventually find the real Catherine
-One of two things happen. Either the real Cath ends up destroying her scanned version, or Simon and scan-Cat have to end Cath's life because she's ended up like Amy or somesuch
-Catherine has some vital information scan-Cath doesn't, and things prove to be even more fucked up than they believed
-Simon won't make it to the ARK.
I heard that OutRo start and it felt so good to hear that song again
And scary af..
+Melany C not really
You do realize artificial sentient life is nearly impossible especially considering how limited we really are technology wise also you can't take physical memories out of people
They didnt take physical memories out, they had her answer a very large amount of questions about her life, feelings, and opinions and uploaded that to Bina48
But it's not really sentient
"Over here? This stuff? These are noodles!" I don't know why, but I started laughing so hard I cried when you said that. Enjoying this playthrough so much!
I love how many people won't understand Simon's weird transformation. Then I'm here chuckling along. Hahaha...
***** Hahaha
+Luketheneko 2.0 Well, how would you feel to be told that a scan from nearly a century ago is what you are right now? Bit weird, and scary.
Honestly I'd be happy. Especially from the ending. Which I won't spoil.
I always love when you use Savant in the outro. I hope you get to see a show of his someday. (I've seen him three times myself) Loving the series so far, keep it up man!
Cry, I'm pretty sure you coulda saved Amy by only removing one of the cords from the power box.
+The Traitor Teyrn
"Saved" is a subjective term here, "doomed" might be more accurate.
+juho aalto Saved as in kept alive, what you do affects the game's ending.
Cry's Bioshock references make me so happy. I loved his playthroughs of those games so much
I think he puts his hand in there beacause it gets rid off his headaches... at least that is what he said the first time.
Still amazed that you're doing two games on the same day and it's awesome. Good job Cry, Good job
does anyone know what the hand sucky thing is for??? I'm assuming it's for health, right? And from what I've seen if Cry touches it, it takes power away too.....Idk, anyone wanna explain their theories to me, I'd love to hear them!
+itsxela It's a health/save station. The hand sphincters appear to harness electricity, which would be beneficial to Cry, as the electricity would heal him, since he's a robot.
ahhhh, that makes sense! thank you!
+Darren Zhao Please tell me that 'hand sphincter' isn't their actual name.
gingergamergirl98 Pshhh nah. It just seems appropriate to me.
Darren Zhao Yes, it is. But it's also a weird thing to say lol
sat in my snazzy christmas cry pyjamas ready to watch every single video uploaded, aw yis
what if, WHAT IF, he's still being scanned and this is his brain bleeding and creating a new world. Because...like...every person he meets, he can't save...kinda like his friend who died in the car crash and all. Idk, just a theory.
You can save them, Cry just doesn't
+Seventh Poet oh lol
+Karl Vesisulm HIDDEN TARDIS
+Leandra Troyack mm interesting it could be just a big trippy mess indeed, since they did "hey your a scan inside a diving suit" pretty quickly, so could be..low but there is a chance.
Sci-fi is my favorite genre of anything ever tbh, this game is amazing too. I could never play it myself because I am awful at horror games so I'm glad you're playing it :D
i dont get it
so you just find out youre a robot who can breathe underwater and probably dont even need to eat
why the hell would you go back into the creepy and dangerous lab instead of leaving for a magical undersea adventure
fuck that lab lol
walk till you find land then figure out where to go from there
+vVAstrAVv Well he also found out that the land was turned into a scorched hellhole by a meteor and that the closest thing to civilization at this point is a virtual world so the choice of what to do next seemed pretty obvious.
Grimdog x
yeah
but that was a few minutes later lol
vVAstrAVv Well the ocean is also pretty big you can't really just pick a direction and start walking, he would either die of exhaustion or starvation which I'm assuming is something that affects him considering how he can get injured but that may simply be due to mental state.
+vVAstrAVv
pretty sure at the early portions he is still delusional. True the facts should be obvious, but you'd be surprised what the mind will conjure to keep the happy lie going.
.
He's basically still reciting the mantra 'i am a human' in his head, only he's needing to yell it louder by now.
HOW HAVE I NEVER WATCHED THIS GUY B4 ... CRY YOUR VIDS ARE (I KID U NOT) BEST QUALITY/CONTENT ON RUclips
-A VERY HAPPY NEW SUB
Man, I feel bummed out that the game told you the whole story of what happened to Simon already. As soon as we met carl it was very obvious on what was going on.
OMG the underwater sections are just gorgeous.
Fun Fact: Canadians are water soluble.
All I could think of when he freed that little robot was "Oh look, it's ED-E!"
"eh Star Trek BWEH"
I FEEL SO DISHONOURED. DISHONOUR ON YOU. DISHONOURED ON YOUR COW.
No for real though, am I the only one who hasn't bothered to watch a single episode?
OF STAR TREK THIS SOUNDED WRONG. LOVING THE LP
+well fuck Of course, you are THE ONLY ONE :)
Thats a quote frim Mushu in Mulan.
Sen Tariana I am aware.
Cry, Let me just tell you I am LOVING this series! Keep up the good work man :)
Callin' it right now. Catherine's a robit.
+PWN JustABitAgroed Yep.
+PWN JustABitAgroed Now the twist is going to be guessing who's still human. XD
*throws thing on ground
*it rolls around really loud
*you stare at it
"ok. you're not allowed to be there anymore..."
*picks it back up and puts it on the table.
That had me cracking up!
Huh. So china became even bigger in the future. Not a surprise.
You are the perfect person for that kind of lp. The shuttle situation was comedy gold. :D
Brute? Is that suppose to be a reference to Amnesia? If so, funny.
the way cry ends his videos is amazing. pretty original, considering the rest of youtube. keep doing you, cry :)
I am not all that scared of robots so I'm not feeling the horror vibe, its more interesting than anything
I love this game, not just for the horror aspect, but everything else, the atmosphere (or blue abyss), the story, and the sounds! I want this game!
OH NO CLIPPING TEXTURES HOW HORRIBLE CALL THE PRESIDENT. Get over it already Cry.
+Lys Bonavo I think he's doing that as more of a joke than anything, and they are pretty horrid to look at. So I do agree with him nonetheless.
