Checking on the animals throughout the day, not only allows you to see their conditions and make adjustments for their care and comfort, but also that regular physical contact, touching them, petting them, feeding, giving them new bedding so they stay dry and warmer--they know who cares for them! They are intelligent and know who brings the foo and comfort and they appreciate it. I love seeing that! Keeping animals dry allows them to retain the good body condition you have accumulated on them (that costs money in feed, etc.) because they don't have to utilize extra calories to stay warm. Constant wet and mud with no chance to get out of the elements is a recipe for sickness and possibly failure. You, Lorraine and Penelope have your animal's best welfare at heart and mind...in everything you do. Love it!
Time to treat and paint that roof Jason! It's time consuming if you do it yourself! But done right it would last you another 10 to 15 years and won't leak at all! Paint it a final coat of white elastisized paint it will keep it cooler in them steamy Southern. Summers!
Not going to lie...Justin is my #1 go to for videos....but you are my 2nd favorite channel to watch. You have great videos and I always look forward to the next one. I wish you would post every day...lol! You have some of the best "how to" videos, and they're always very interesting. ...even though you admit you don't know everything and some things (to me) seem to be common knowledge- but I grew up on a traditional dairy farm. Very proud of how far you guys have come - especially with the health journey. You have dealt with some serious health problems- many people would have given up and you pushed forward. Congratulations on all your success! Keep up the great work!
Those are some good looking pigs. That barn is and always be a game changer for ya Jason. You picked a great property. Just look at that grass after only a year. Your getting that farm working. Excellent job Mr.
Your videos are always interesting, practical and fun. All 3 of you maka a great team. I appreciate the respect and care you show all the animals. Jason makes me laigh. Thank yoi folks.
Always happy to see your newest video pop up!! 💕💕 I love seeing the animals on farm chore rounds. The pigs are my favorite. Homesteaders can learn so much from you. Today's video is filled with essential farm information for rainy days.
Look at the grass compared to last year! You guys need a few steers with all that luscious grass. How about 4-6 sheep? I believe the Rhodes will have some lambs for sale.
Hi. I had 3 issues on my old house when we got here. I'm a single mom n my boys helped me " paint " tarry stinky sealer on the roof leak. The front door would flood everytime is rained hard n we shoveled out a 4ft deep 8ft round hole n filled it with stones n the garage would flood in heavy rain rented a jack hammer n broke up the cement patio along that side cause it sloped toward the garage instead of away..😂 thankfully my cheap fixes worked..good luck
You need a wider ridge cap …I was a roof tiler for years in Western Australia…the rain would be coming in from the sides …and I bet the gap between the tin is wide ..over in this country they curl the edges of the tin up ..to stop water ..just a thought ….love the channel
Hey Jason & Lorraine, love watching your vlogs. There’s an equation to calculate potential rainwater collection. It’s in metric so you’ll have to convert back to imperial measurements. 1 millimetre of rainfall over 1 square meter = 1 litre of water, when you measure your collection area it’s incredible how much water you can potentially collect. Rainwater collection is very important here in Australia. Do some quick calculations I think you’ll be really surprised, Anyhow hope this is of some use to you and keep up the great work.😊
homestead chores still gotta get done in the cold wet rain, your commitment is outstanding ! look at that grass -- yay ! won't be long till it will be time to mow. those lil pigs are growing. don't you just want to keep them all . lol - they gotta go i know. still holding on to the future show when you announce yall are getting beefy boys again !
I love the barn, such a smart choice....so much room for activities!! The noises all those little piggies make was super cute....when do they start trying to eat some food?
BLESSED RESURRECTION SUNDAY CHOW FROM S E MICHIGAN 🀄🀄🀄🛐🛐🛐✝️✝️✝️❤️❤️❤️🌹🥀🌹🌴🀄 The cow's sure would love the grass. Soon you'll have more beefy boys or milking ladies. You have a compassionate love for your ANIMAL'S.
I'm sorta, kinda remembering your farm from last summer and it got a little dry. I'm seeing all of the surface water in this video and thinking it sure would be nice to have an affordable way to capture some of it for later release during the summer months that wasn't too, too aesthetically displeasing; even if it was into the surrounding vegetation without becoming a mosquito breeding ground. Even so, im guessing that your "pasture repair" efforts are doing quite a bit towards precipitation retention in the soil and not just the vegetation or biomass. Some many years ago, we used go get a tractor show or two plus an agricultural show in EARLY morning, weekend TV. They covered water puddling on pasture land in one of the episodes and showed that soil compaction by both machinery and animal weight over time can create a type of hard pan layer upto 18" to 24" below grade. It is generally a mix of compacted dirt structures and filtered compost type materials bonded together to fork uptoman impenetrable mat. It is not the typical salt, mineral, and rock based hard pan.
As always a quality vlog. Those pigs are amazing. The three nest pigs have really thickened up. Glad the tote is working well. Love love the ground level shot of the young chicks outside eating.
Does your metal barn roof sweat? The metal roofing is not insulated. The difference between the outside and inside temperatures will create moisture on the inside area of the metal roofing which leads to dripping.
HI JASON! I was thinking about your roof leaks. Have you ever thought about using Flex Seal on the leaking areas? It may be a be a quick, inexpensive option.

My wife and I really enjoy all the different projects and cleanliness of your families channel. It’s a breath of fresh air!
Gutters, downspout, and corrugated pipe to run the excess 20 ft away should keep the shop nice and dry even if it rains a lot

Something about Happy as a pig in mud, crossed my mind. The animals all look great.
Look at the grass compared to last year! You guys need a few steers with all that luscious grass. How about 4-6 sheep? I believe the Rhodes will have some lambs for sale.

Your piglets are so cute!!!
My carpenter husband just plugged the metal roofs with caulk and that works great for the metal roof leaks!

I would use Rustleuom rusty metal primer on the roof
thanks for tip!
@@SowtheLand My paw used to paint the barn roof with Rustoleum Silver every ten years or so. Worked great!

Get some roof paint and paint the roof. It could fix the small leaks
The piggies are so cute!😍
Cool Seal roof coating would cover the rust and seal small holes. 🙂
As always a quality vlog. Those pigs are amazing. The three nest pigs have really thickened up. Glad the tote is working well. Love love the ground level shot of the young chicks outside eating.
While you have the tractor you might grade that corner. To get the water to move away from the barn.
Thank you for more and more little piggies!
Happy Easter y'all
Its like that weather wise on the way upper north coast of California too!
re: roof sometimes the carpenters belt with pouches works best for carry nails? Sorry I should shut my mouth....
Paint the roof with a metal sealer. That will give you at least 3 more years
those kune kune piglets are too cute! ❤️
I like the little black piglets. So cute! 😁

You have such cute little pigs!
HI JASON! I was thinking about your roof leaks. Have you ever thought about using Flex Seal on the leaking areas? It may be a be a quick, inexpensive option.
Build up outside with stone to keep it from leaking in that corner.
Fun video. Your doing great
Always love your videos! Thanks for the great content!
I don't think those little piggies could get any cuter!
There is always a repair to be made
Love the little porkies.

Did you ever try a spray can of the Flex Seal stuff. Now that your down to spots you might give it a try. It would be interesting to see if it works.
