    ahh this is exactly what I've been looking for!! I've wanted a tactical vest for a while but couldn't find one I liked for a reasonable price, so happy I found this tutorial! will be sewing my own in a couple days!!
    update: I finished the vest and I love it so much! id say this is an immediate project. the most challenging part for me was the final pocket, it kept being a little slanted. I'm not sure why (I've done a pocket like that before and it was fine. its my fault tho not the tutorial, its not super noticeable.) i recommend waiting to attach the pockets on until you sew them all. i did this and had to adjust the pockets a bit before sewing them onto the vest. i spent about 24 hours working on this project over the last 4 days. but i also had to stitch rip and resew a piece for 2 hours cause i did it the wrong way. besides maybe a quilt this is definitely the most intricate and time-consuming project I've done, but that being said its not difficult. love this tutorial!! definitely recommend trying it out!

    Love the vest…what are your thoughts about interfacing the front panels or does the chino twill have enough structure on its own?

    • @shay_made
      @shay_made  2 года назад +1

      Thank you so much! I did line the vest with the same chino twill which I feel helps the vest to have enough structure on its own though I would interface the pocket flaps if I made another one

    Please I didn't understand how you turned it with lining and how you join the sides

    • @shay_made
      @shay_made  2 года назад +1

      Hey!! It is a bit confusing. I’ll try to explain it here. So to attach the lining to the outer vest I laid the 2 together right sides facing and sewed the two together only around the armholes and the neckline (not along the sides or the bottom edge yet) I clip into the seams with my scissors to help reduce some of the bulk later when I turn this right side out. Now once the lining and outer vest are sewn together along the neckline and armholes and I’ve snipped into those seams now it’s time to sew the sides together. I pinned the lining fronts to the lining back at the sides and the outer vest fronts to the outer vest back at the sides as well maneuvering around the neckline and armholes that have already been sewn. At this point the sides and neckline and armholes of the lining and outer vest are sewn together. Now the last step is to attach the bottom of the lining to the outer vest. This step looks trickier than it is. You’re going to pin the 2 bottom edges together with the lining and outer vest right sides together which seems difficult to do with the armhole and neckline and sides being sewn already. But to do this we just need to roll our vest so it can fit in between the 2 layers and then we sew along the bottom edge but leave a 5” or so gap in the center to pull everything right side out. Pull everything right side out and then top stitch that opening closed at the bottom.
      I really hopes this explanation helps!!

    • @shay_made
      @shay_made  2 года назад

      Oh and my message is super long already 🤦‍♀️ lol but I forgot to mention when you sew the lining to the outer vest, when you sew the together around the armholes and neckline in this step you also sew the lining to the zipper along the zipper sides as well. Okay, that’s all now lol. I hope this helps!!!
