@Umamaheswari G wow. I'm glad you found her music. I love Lana's new album too but I love her older albums MORE. If you liked ChemtrailsOverTheCountryClub then I'll recommend you Norman f*cking Rockwell.
44 year old Taylor Fan here : -) I have so many favorite lyrics, it is so hard to pick one. I think, as far as relating to them, "Every time you call me crazy, I get more crazy....and when you said I seem angry, I get more angry." What woman cannot relate to that! I also love the back and forth in Exile when he says "You never gave a warning sign, I gave so many signs" UGH, that one gets me too! I always love your reactions, thanks for sharing!
Right! How silly is the comment “Taylor’s fans are a bunch of teeny boppers?” I’d venture to say most of her fan base is older because we’ve been with her since the beginning. We are the same age and I became a fan before most people even knew her name. I’m ride or die with the girl haha
In her debut album back in 2006 she included Our Song, something she wrote for her high school freshman talent show. At 14 she had already perfected her lyricism and story telling, inside one heck of an earworm melody with the kind of bridge that few songwriters ever get to compose. She could repeat four syllable words at the age of ten months when most children haven't yet learned to walk. She was born with a talent for the ages. She has no equal in my opinion.
I loved, and also lowkey felt very attacked, by the verse "they told me all my cages were mental, so I got wasted like all my potential. And my words shoot to kill when I'm mad. I have a lot of regrets about that. I was so ahead of the curve, the curve became a sphere, fell behind all my classmates and I ended up here" like bitch were is the camera, how have you been watching my entire life?
And also that there is a teenage love triangle in this album CARDIGAN- BETTY'S POV(just two girls lose the one,it was just the thrill,I knew you'd come back to me,you're at my porch) August - Inez perspective (the girl with whom James cheated on betty)(it was just a summer love,I picked you up in the car,the whispers of are you sure, will you phone me again) Betty- James perspective(I'm back at your porch/it was just a summer thing, she said get in the car)
Duuuuude - I've been seeing EVERYONEEEEEE has a different opinion on which songs are apart of the love triangle. I thought I was confident in my opinion and then I hear the arguments for the others and my opinions waivers. I hate Taylor hahaha
@@TheBlissfulReactions yeah but actually Taylor said for cardigan that it's whimsical and the teenage love that we always obsess about and say it's perfect In August she sings that it was only the summer,he was never mine but the main thing was the picking up in the car line which ties it to Betty and they were teenagers so their could not be hotel rooms(thus debunking illicit affairs theory) The parallels match perfectly for these 3 songs. Loved your reactions as always❤
Inez is not the other girl, she is just a girl who loves gossip and spreading rumours about people. Like James says in the song betty "You heard the rumours from Inez You can't believe a word she says most times, but this time it was true". Also why would the other girl go to Betty and say that he was with her all summer.
@@chetanmodi4533 Isn't illicit affair means affair between a married person and someone outside the marriage. Also the illicit affair is too strong and illicit to be a story about teenagers.
apparently my tears ricochet was about scott borchetta and him breaking her heart about her music and how he ended their partnership basically selling her masters to THAT dude, you know? "when you can't sleep at night, you'll hear my stolen lullabies..."
my tears ricochet to me has a double meaning it could be about the end of a relationship or about what happened to her with her ex record label’s boss , it also sounds from the perspective of a ghost
I don't get it when people judge others bcz of their love to taylor I mean she is the artist of the decade , a genius songwriter , so creative and brave enough to switch genres and doing her best to be part of the game after everything she is gone through , a lovely kind soul she wrote a song for her fans only "long live" years ago and she sang for them in reputation tour when the world agreed that she is a bad person why wouldn't you love her or at least appreciate her work but at the end of the day her fans will alwys appreciate her and that's what really matters .
I mean, I understand it to an extent. If I only knew “radio hits Taylor” I wouldn’t be as big of a fan as I am. Music consumes my days so I’m aware of the goods, but someone like my husband who could do with or without music.. I don’t expect him to get it, ya know?
Love your insights, and it would be interesting to hear your thoughts a few months from now when you have listened and digested the album many times over. Perhaps you could do a follow up video on how you look at this album after a period of time and what tracks resonated with you after repeated listens.
YESSSSS! I just kept thinking - this is SUCH a Pisces album. Ethereal. Romantic in a dark, twisted, Shakespearean type of way. Passive aggressive. Complicated. All the Piscean things 🤣
I agree with you - up to one point: Epiphany. Listen to it again - from a nurse's point of view. I guess that is a key. It's not a baby sleeping - but two people dying. "Something you can't speak about". And listen to the outro which has a distict sound. Only 20 minutes to sleep (on a nightshift).
Oh no, I agree with you. I was saying I know it’s a dark message... about war and medical workers, presumably during the COVID pandemic... but sonically it mirrors that of a lullaby. Like many of the childhood songs we grow up with that are attached to childhood games, but are actually dark in nature (ex. Ring around the rosey.) The message, obviously not a lullaby, but I feel lullaby vibes. Make sense?

I enjoyed your thoughts on folklore, It is her best album. I would predict she will not return to the Pop she was creating before and will continue on this Indie/Folk style unless one day she decides to switch genres and take on Rock
I think she will still play with pop music. I think she genuinely enjoys the genre. But more than anything, she loves writing. As she continues to work with different producers we will get different sounds. Who knows! We always wonder how she can keep reinventing her music, but somehow each album sounds dramatically different from the last!
Loved your analysis, especially Peace, it's my favorite on the album ❤️ To me Illicit Affairs is not about cheating necessarily. The way I interpret it its about a relationship where one person is deeply in love but the other person doesn't want to make the relationship public or known. Imagine being treated like the other woman when there's no wife or girlfriend. It's heartbreaking.
taylor said she wrote a fictional love triangle and the songs seems to be cardigan, betty and august...cardigan is betty's version, betty is james' and august is the other girl! I love watching you realizing it LOL
blake liveley and ryan reynolds have two daughters called inez and james so taylor might have had a female in mind when she said james in betty... but also yeah even if it is indeed gay I don't think its from taylors perspective, its just a story she made up.
If Taylor came out as gay I’d be the first person on the streets applauding her. But the speculation just makes me uncomfortable at this point. But as for how other’s interpret the music, I’m cool with that. We all take different things from it.
I disagree about potential awards. The Grammys might as well give Taylor Album of the Year right now. Btw I'm 72. Been a superfan since I first heard her sing Our Song in 2007. Met her in 2008 and predicted she'd replace and surpass the Beatles in my books. Miss Taylor Swift has no equal.
I'm not saying it doesn't deserve awards or won't get any awards, but I don't believe it's marketed as an "award season album." 1989 was created for awards. That was part of it's purpose. folklore feels like it was simply made as a creative outlet for Taylor to do what she does best... create art in her quiet moments. Tell a story. I truly don't believe she created it with awards in mind.
@@TheBlissfulReactions To be considered for awards the artist must submit it to the relevant awards committee and into one category or another. With the kind of response Taylor's received since the release I really can't see her not submitting it for consideration.
