Thank You. This was really helpful. Keep up the good work. I am setting up a homelab using an old ASUS laptop that I had lying around, and while tinkering around, I inevitably did manage to f### things up; but then fiddling around even more to get things running. Your video resolved a few issues that I was facing and did not know why.
Cool video man! Pi-hole does a whole lot more than I thought it did. I have a ras Pi 5 and planned to use it a a file server for my home network, maybe configure a public facing route as well to download data from the internet. Is that something I can accomplish following the main parts of this tutorial?
I'm not sure I understand what you are asking. It sounds to me like you want to expose your file server to the internet so that you can access it outside of your home. If that's what you want, I would recommend using a VPN (not a paid privacy VPN) to access your home server. I have used zeroteir in the past, it's a great service. I've also read that tailscale is just as good, if not better. Both of these will allow you to access your server outside of your home network, without changing any firewall settings and without exposing your server to the wild Internet(not recommended). But no, Pi-Hole will not help you expose anything outside your home network. If you are interested, I can show you how I would set it up.

I'm glad you found it helpful. An old laptop is a great starting place for a homelab.

I made this video to show you how I would set up a file server on raspberry pi. I think you'll enjoy it. ruclips.net/video/1YFcey5mNCE/видео.html
nice video!
Thanks! I hope you got something from it.
Nice work, unfortunately the music is too loud I couldn't hear your voice and stopped watching the video.
If you can, please upload it without music.
Sorry about that. I've been struggling to find a good balance on the audio. ruclips.net/video/hVV9BnDN300/видео.html Just for you my friend.
